this is a 1997 mitsubishi GSX AWD Turbo that I bought for my wife who has used it for the past 4-5 years. it is basically all original and has never been hot rodded or molested. even the radio is original, no gauges have been hacked in and nothing has been cut and hacked up, I did however upgrade the wheels to newer eclipse wheels with new tires and the original 97 GSX wheels are also included with this auction. overall the car is in very decent condition, it is not perfect nor is it a brand new car, but as far as 16 year old cars go, it is in very good shape. it has had some misc paintwork through the years and the body and paint is in very decent shape but there are a few minor issues. the right side fender has a small rust spot where it meets the bumper, the 2 fog light bezels are missing and there are some cracks in the paint on the left side lower rocker/body molding. there is also a very small dent on the passengers fender which doesn't show up in pictures but everything else is shown in the pics. there is some minor rust starting to develop on the inner trunk lid seem and the lower door seems. I have treated these areas with a little POR-15 to stop the rust from spreading, it is not rotted or rusted through anywhere, just some minor surface stuff that would be a easy clean up fix, overall the car looks run and drives great.

the car does have 120k and although it runs great and is very strong and solid it does have a slight oil leak near the oil filter and it could use a valve adjustment as the valvetrain does tick a little louder than it did when I first got it, but nothing so bad really, just want to point out whatever negative things I can think of. the only other mechanical issue is that the car has had the transmission replaced a few years ago, and at the time we had a good low mileage JDM tranny installed. the difference between the JDM tranny and the USDM tranny is the JDM tranny does not use a lock up converter where the us model does, so the check engine light does come on giving a code for the lock up solenoid, because the JDM tranny does not have a lock up solenoid. it works great and there are no problems other than the check engine light. I have been told this problem can be solved but have never needed to, the check engine light winds up not being a problem for passing inspection on this car though because these eclipses are known for problems with the ecu not properly setting the readiness monitors anyway, so this car can pass inspection by just resetting the CE light then going for inspection, have passed inspection every year for me no problem. the JDM tranny is also said to be stronger than the US model.

the car looks runs and drives great, original unmolested examples of these GSX's are getting harder and harder to find. this car is not perfect but it is a very solid good looking car that still has a lot of life left in her. good luck on the bidding. I will not arrange shipping for you, but I will help in any way I can to co-operate and coordinate with a shipper of your choice. I will require a $500 deposit within 48 hours of auction end and the car will NOT be released until all funds have cleared, no exceptions.

i-MiEV doesn't survive Mitsubishi's updated EV plan

Mon, Nov 30 2015

Mitsubishi will increase the number of electrified models in its lineup through the end of the decade, but the company's focus on crossovers will mean the axe for the aging i-MiEV. The flurry of new or updated models will begin arriving as soon as next year, and the automaker will offer nearly all of them in plug-in hybrid or electric versions, according to Automotive News. Rather than dedicated EVs like the i-MiEV, Mitsubishi will instead offer gasoline and electrified variants of a future lineup with three sizes of crossovers. The company will follow the current trend of coupe-like CUVs with its own version, including a plug-in hybrid option, between the Outlander Sport and Outlander sometime after the autumn of 2017, Automotive News reports. A new Outlander with a PHEV model will come after 2017, and a next-gen Outlander Sport with an EV trim will arrive around 2019. There won't be a Lancer replacement. "We are strong in SUVs and four-wheel drives. And that is what we would like to focus on as core models in the US market," Mitsubishi CEO Osamu Masuko said to Automotive News. Mitsubishi already offered a preview of its next-gen CUV design language with the eX Concept at the Tokyo Motor Show. The compact crossover evolved the styling of the refreshed Outlander's X-shape grille, and it featured a floating roof that created the appearance of a wraparound greenhouse. Power came from an electric motor at the front and rear axle and a 45-kWh lithium-ion battery. In the nearer term, the wait for the Outlander PHEV will finally end because the long-delayed plug-in crossover will launch in the US around the middle of next year. Earlier rumors suggested a possible arrival around April 2016, but the vehicle was previously reported to come here as early as the fall of 2014.

Mitsubishi rolls out new Triton pickup [w/videos]

Tue, 18 Nov 2014

Of all the automakers producing pickup trucks these days, even among just the Japanese automakers, Mitsubishi might not spring to mind first. But maybe it should. The Diamond-Star company has been in the game now for 36 years, selling over four million pickups around the world. These days that comes down principally to the Triton, of which it sold over a third of a million units last year alone for a total of over 1.2 million produced since its introduction in 2005. Now, after nine years on the market, Mitsubishi has launched a new version.
Clearly drawing its stylistic influence (if not the hybrid powertrain) from the GR-HEV concept Mitsubishi showcased at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, the new Triton aims to combine "the comfortable interior of a passenger car with the functionality and reliability of a pickup." It's more stylish, more comfortable and safer than the model it replaces, and comes in an array of configurations.
Buyers of the new Triton (known in some markets as the L200, among other nameplates it's worn over the years) will be able to choose between Single, Double and Club Cab variants. Powertrain choices will vary by market, but will be based around three engines: a 2.4-liter gasoline unit, a 2.5-liter turbodiesel and a new 2.4-liter turbodiesel with electronic valve timing.

Mitsubishi showing off 473-hp Lancer Evo X Concept Final at Tokyo Auto Salon

Mon, Dec 29 2014

We know from the head of Mitsubishi USA that the special edition Lancer Evo X coming next June will be a five-speed GSR model with more horsepower, a tweaked suspension and some additional fancy "bits and pieces." We didn't expect to be this, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X Final Concept with an ECU tune and new HKS turbo making its 2.0-liter engine good for 473 horsepower. That's 183 more ponies than the stock model. Based on a five-speed GSR, on top of that power boost it gets larger intakes and intercoolers, an upgraded cooling system and exhaust, an adjustable suspension from HKS and 19-inch Rays forged wheels. The finish is a mix of matte and gloss black, and chrome trim. Actually, we still don't expect the special edition we'll get to mimic the Evo X Final Concept; rather, we think this black beauty is a full-fat showcase for the Tokyo Auto Salon, where the Evo X Final Concept will be shown. It's a tantalizing could-have-been, and now that we've seen what Mitsu can do with the Lancer Evo when it cares just a little, we hope our that end-of-series special isn't too disappointing by comparison.
