For sale – 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS with less than 82,500 miles! This car is equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission, 4 cylinder engine, motorized glass retractable sunroof, and Infinity sound system. I am the second owner, and have all major maintenance records on the car since it was new. It has always been very well maintained. I am asking $4,300 OBO. The tires have about 2,000-3,000 miles or so until they will need replacement, but if you make a full-price offer I will include new tires and even cover the cost of their installation – all you will have to do is schedule an appointment with the shop to have them installed at your convenience. I have included just about everything I can think of relating to this car below. If you are interested, don't hesitate to get in touch.
MECHANICAL This car has been impeccably maintained its entire life. It runs great, starts every time, and leaks absolutely no fluids. It does not burn oil. The clutch engages and disengages properly. The transmission shifts smoothly without grinding between gears. In short, this car should not require anything aside from tires for quite a while. The car has never left me stranded in the 20,000 miles I have driven it, and is about as reliable as you can get. That kind of peace of mind can be hard to find in this price range. All available maintenance records will be provided to the new owner, but here are some of the highlights: --I just installed new front brake pads and rotors within the last 100 miles. --Oil was changed about 2,400 miles ago. The car will be due for its next oil change in 2,600 miles. To my knowledge, oil has always been changed at least every 5,000 miles, often more frequently than that. --Manual transmission fluid was replaced about 12,000 miles ago. --Spark plugs, plug-on-coils, and wires were replaced about 12,000 miles ago with long-life spark plugs. --Battery was replaced about 12,000 miles ago in summer 2013. --O2 sensor was replaced about 12,000 miles ago. --Timing belt was replaced about 26,000 miles ago and therefore should not require servicing again for at least 34,000+ miles. --AC blows cold. --As mentioned above, the tires will need replacement within the next couple thousand miles and I will cover this cost with a full-price offer. COSMETIC AND INTERIOR The car is 11 years old, so naturally it has acquired some “character.” The car has never been in a major accident or sustained unibody/frame damage to my knowledge. The worst that has occurred is that sadly I hit a dog going about 25mph last summer and that caused some subtle dimpling and deformity of the bumper on the left-front side. The car also has a dent about 1.5” x 3” on the left-front quarter panel that had magically appeared when I returned to the car in a parking lot. The radio loads and plays CDs but sometimes has difficulty ejecting CDs all the way. The driver’s side has what appears to be a small cigarette burn in the seat. By the way, the car in no way smells like it had been a smoker’s car, which is why I always wondered about that mark on the seat (it was there when I bought it). The dash plastic is cracked in a couple of places. Other than that there are just a few minor run-of-the-mill door ding type things here and there; nothing obvious or out of the ordinary. The paint is in pretty good shape, with the exception of the front bumper which is not too bad but on close inspection the clear coat seems to be flaking a bit. There are no cracks or chips in the glass. The interior is clean and free of foul odors. I think that about covers everything. Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions or want to come take a look at the car. |

How a powerful Nissan insider brought down Carlos Ghosn
Sat, Aug 29 2020Hari Nada  We may never truly know all the corporate skullduggery that went on at Nissan to get former boss Carlos Ghosn arrested and incarcerated in Japan, a country he ultimately fled in a box in what may be the greatest escape caper in corporate history. Nor may we ever truly know which accusations against Ghosn are or are not true. But Bloomberg News thinks it has a pretty good fix on the mastermind of the putsch, a Nissan senior vice president named Hari Nada. Nada, Bloomberg says, is "an insider known for his aggressive tactics and fondness for Marlboros, French cuff shirts and strong cologne." In a 4,600-word investigative piece, Bloomberg dials in on Nada, 56, as having directed other senior executives in a plot to bring down Ghosn, starting a year before his arrest in Tokyo. "The aftermath has been messy," Bloomberg puts it mildly, with Nissan losing billions of dollars, its management in disarray, and the alliance with Renault and Mitsubishi strained to the limits. The fortunes of the three automakers were sent reeling, with the coronavirus pandemic piling on. For his part, Ghosn is living in Lebanon as an international fugitive. Nada's role was basically as chief of staff to Ghosn, a position from which he could see that the chairman intended to strengthen the alliance, bringing the players together in one holding company. Nissan executives have long resisted closer ties and chafed at the company's junior-partner relationship with Renault, though ironically Ghosn's plan would have brought Nissan more of the parity it has always craved. Ghosn also wanted to expand, possibly by a merger with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. Among Bloomberg's new discoveries: Nada arranged to have Ghosn's corporate email hacked, unbeknownst to key IT personnel or Nissan's CEO. This began months before Nada began working with prosecutors in a secret deal that afforded him immunity. Jose Munoz, a former Nissan exec and ally of Ghosn's, feared arrest — and refused to Tokyo when summoned — after being tipped off by the U.S. and Spanish ambassadors to Japan. Munoz is now chief operating officer at Hyundai. Top Nissan corporate counsel Ravinder Passi says he was retaliated against after raising complaints against Nada to Nissan's board. He says Nissan initiated a police raid of his home, which Bloomberg has on video. Nada purged other executives deemed rivals or disloyal and apparently became quite unpopular.
2016 Mitsubishi Outlander priced from $23,845
Wed, Jun 3 2015Mitsubishi is on a slight upswing in the US recently after its first, though small, profit in the country in seven years. The company is now reportedly looking to boost its product lineup, and one of the first big changes in a while comes with the launch of the refreshed, 2016 Outlander. Even with significant upgrades for the three-row crossover, the price is actually $200 lower than last year to start at $23,845 (including $850 destination on all models). The most obvious tweak for the 2016 refresh is the Outlander's attractive, all-new front fascia. The crossover now wears a grille that mixes gloss black and chrome slats, and the whole design is outlined in curving chrome that leads down to accentuate the foglights. At the rear, the upgrades aren't quite as drastic, but the addition of LED taillights lends a more modern look. However, the changes are more than skin deep, and Mitsubishi also claims over 100 engineering and design modifications for the vehicle. The engines carry over from last year, and most models get a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 166 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. It's hooked up to a revised CVT that Mitsubishi claims offers better acceleration and torque delivery. Buyers can choose between either front- or all-wheel drive. The other option is the top-spec GT trim that comes with a 3.0-liter V6 making 224 hp and 215 lb-ft, a six-speed automatic, and all-wheel drive. MITSUBISHI MOTORS ANNOUNCES REDUCED PRICING FOR NEW 2016 OUTLANDER June 02, 2015 — CYPRESS, Calif. Starting MSRP of only $22,995; a $200 reduction in price from the previous model year The 2016 Outlander features Mitsubishi's new dynamic design language and over 100 engineering and design improvements Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) today announced pricing for the U.S. version of the new 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander seven-passenger crossover. With a starting MSRP of only $22,995, the 2016 Outlander has a $200 lower starting MSRP than the previous model year, which is notable when considering the amount of design and engineering improvements incorporated into the vehicle. "The 2016 Outlander has a dynamic new design and a long list of engineering upgrades—it literally looks, drives and feels like an entirely new vehicle," said MMNA Executive Vice President, Don Swearingen.
Elon Musk: Teslas will already know where we’re going
Tue, Oct 31 2017In the future, cars will drive us. And probably not surprisingly, they'll often know where to go without us even needing to tell them. That's the theme of a short back-and-forth conversation on Twitter recently between Tesla founder and CEO Elon Musk and a user who tagged him in a comment suggesting that "it would be cool" to be able to tell a car where to go. Responding to user James Harvey, Musk replied, "It won't even need to ask you most of the time." Later, after Harvey asked how the car would know where he wants to go, another user suggested that the car would know what time you go to work. "Yeah, don't exactly need to be Sherlock Holmes," Musk tweeted. It won't even need to ask you most of the time — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) October 21, 2017 Yeah, don't exactly need to be Sherlock Holmes. — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) October 21, 2017 That the ability to know where we're going will be part of our future driving experience shouldn't be surprising. After all, the smartphones we carry around already possess the ability to predict what we want — think Google's cleverness in tailoring search results or providing traffic information just before your commute, Facebook's highly customized News Feed content or even auto-fill technology, which can predict the words you're typing. And plenty of automakers have been touting their own work in developing in-car artificial intelligence systems. Like Audi's Elaine concept, which will be able to learn, think and even empathize with drivers. Or Mitsubishi's e-Evolution concept, which can not only assist your driving, but also assess your skills and teach you how to improve them. Tesla's vehicles, of course, are being outfitted with all the latest autonomous driver-assist technology, with the automaker eager to one day reach full Level 5 self-driving capability. According to Inc., Teslas will be able to listen and respond to directional commands, and they'll even have access to your calendar to comb for information about where you need to go. Tesla has also said it's developing an update to its Autopilot hardware and remains on track to achieve full Level 5 autonomous driving by the end of this year, which strikes a lot of people as wildly unrealistic. At any rate, the promise of cars knowing what time we're sneaking out to get donuts or picking up the kids is interesting, coming from the man who has warned that AI presents "a fundamental risk to the existence of human civilization."Related Video:
