1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse Gst Hatchback 2-door 2.0l on 2040-cars
Arlington, Virginia, United States
I'm selling my Silver manual Eclipse GST (FWD, turbo) that I was using as a daily driver. It has 153,000 miles. I am selling because I will be moving cross country soon.
I have lowered the price to the lowest price I'll take, I am now firm on the price. I own a car trailer so I can deliver the car if the buyer is serious.
***Video shot with my GoPro of the car running:******
Video of the car running, pulls great!
~1995
~Silver
~Manual
~Turbo
~Reliable Daily Driver
~Delivery available!
This car is fun and fast! They are unique and are getting rare finding one in such good condition now. Before I got the car, it sat in a garage for 3 years because the previous owner thought a blown inter-cooler pipe was something more serious! All work has been professionally done by ExtremePSI and it amazes me how much care they took to get reliability AND modifications!
The car is clean of rust, no parts are seized with age, it amazes me how easy it is to work on when there is not even surface rust!
The car is on a safe default DSMlink tune now, but when tuned by professionals, this car ran mid 12 second quarter mile times consistently!
The car still has EVERY emissions part. It will be easy to get inspected and pass emissions.
Modifications:
DSMlink v2
BigEvo3 13G Turbo
Digital boost controller that can change the boost limit based on gear
3" inch A'pexi exhaust with highflow cat
Prothane motor mounts
950cc Fuel Injector Clinic (low Z)
Injen intake
Aftermarket recirculated BOV
Slotted rotors
Bridgestone Potenza tires with a lot of tread
Shortshifter kit
Aftermarket boost guage
Aftermarket radio
Cons:
The night I got the car, I took it off the trailer and damaged the front left quarter panel, the damage is isolated to the quarter panel though. It'd be an easy replacement though.

Mitsubishi turning Montero into crossover, Outlander Sport may get PHEV variant
Mon, 24 Feb 2014Mitsubishi is getting more and more forthcoming about its plans for the US market. Among the tidbits revealed during a chat with Edmunds at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show, MMNA Executive Vice President Don Swearingen said that "We are committed to huge investments in capital as well as huge investments in R&D." The marquee product of that investment could be a new Montero for the 2017 or 2018 model year, suggestions of which were raised with the Concept GC-PHEV at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show and again at the end of last year. Swearingen said the proposed SUV is a little smaller than a Ford Explorer and that dealers have seen a picture of it. A decision on whether to bring it to the US will be made later this year.
Below that, incremental improvements will come to every model over the next couple of years. The Outlander will get a facelift next year before a major restyle in 2016, when the Outlander PHEV is also expected to finally make it here. In 2015 the Outlander Sport will be fitted with larger engine and a new, quieter CVT returning better acceleration and fuel economy. In 2016 it will also be redesigned, and it will be equipped with the company's new telematics system that goes into the Outlander the following year.
At the other end of the line-up, the Mirage will get a big dose of love in two years. Detail changes like better fabric inside and outside-mirror indicators are slated for 2015, and in 2016 the bargain hatchback gets "a sleek, aerodynamic" reskin. The Mirage G4 sedan could join the US range if the Canadians turn out to be fans of it. The Lancer gets only meager attentions, while the i-MiEV gets the cold shoulder and won't change at all. We get the cold shoulder as far as a next-generation Evo - Swearingen didn't say a word about that, apparently.
MotorWeek remembers a better time for Mitsubishi performance
Fri, Feb 26 2016Dodge still knows how to create an capable performance car – look at the Hellcats, for example – but the same isn't true for Mitsubishi. With the Lancer Evo's demise, we don't expect driving enthusiasts to clamor for any of the Japanese automaker's other products. Things used to be different, though. As MotorWeek found in its new Retro Review, the 1991 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 and its sibling, the Dodge Stealth R/T Turbo, were impressive sports coupes in their day. Dodge and Mitsubishi packed a bevy of cutting-edge tech into the coupes. In these trims, both sported all-wheel drive, four-wheel steering, an adjustable suspension, active exhaust, and automatic climate control. The 3000GT VR4 upped the ante even more with active aero parts at the front and rear. Their 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 was good for 300 horsepower and 307 pound-feet, which were good numbers at the time. This pair put all their gizmos to good use, too. MotorWeek compares the all-wheel-drive system's grip levels to a Porsche 911 Carrera 4. When was the last time you heard any favorable similarity between a Mitsubishi and a Porsche? The Stealth R/T Turbo and 3000GT VR4 came from a special time for Japanese sports coupes, when every brand had a halo model. Whether you were looking at Nissan 300ZX, Mazda RX-7, Toyota Supra, or even the Acura NSX, there was a lot to like on the market. MotorWeek's latest Retro Review offers a great reminder of that period.
DoJ fines Japanese parts firms $740M in massive automotive price-fixing scandal
Fri, 27 Sep 2013Nine Japanese suppliers have pleaded guilty in US court over charges of price fixing in the automotive parts industry, resulting in the Department of Justice doling out a total of $740 million of fines, according to a report from Bloomberg. The scandal, which has resulted in General Motors, Ford, Toyota and Chrysler spending up to $5 billion on inflated parts and driving up prices on 25 million vehicles has sent the DoJ hustling into investigations. "The conduct this investigation uncovered involved more than a dozen separate conspiracies aimed at the U.S. economy," Attorney General Eric Holder (pictured above) said during yesterday's press conference.
As the investigation stands, the DoJ has issued $1.6 billion in fines against 20 companies and 21 individual executives, with 17 of the execs headed to prison. Deputy Assistant Attorney General Scott Hammond said, "The breadth of the conspiracies brought to light today are as egregious as they are pervasive. They involve more than a dozen separate conspiracies operating independently but all sharing in common that they targeted US automotive manufacturers."
Big-name suppliers indicted in the investigation include Mitsubishi Electric, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Hitachi Automotive and Mitsuba Corporation. A list of fines and other corporations named in the investigation is available at Bloomberg.
