Up for auction is a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero that was recently donated to a national charitable foundation and is being sold with NO RESERVE. The vehicle is equipped with a 6cyl engine and automatic transmission. The odometer shows 152,232 miles. It’s fairly well equipped with most of the options. The seats are gray and appear to be in decent condition, although a good detail will make a huge difference. The exterior of the car is silver and is showing signs of wear and is faded. It has a few door dings and scratches. The tires appear to HAVE ROUGHLY 35% road life left. Please refer to the photos included in this auction for more description details. Tue, Dec 30 2014The Toyota Prius and Prius V have earned IIHS 2015 Top Safety Pick+ ratings. The Prius V was singled out for its improved performance in the small overlap crash test. Lexus CT models built after September 2014 were also given the distinguished safety rating. In all, eight vehicles from Toyota and Lexus earned Top Safety Pick+ awards, while four more from Toyota and Scion were named Top Safety Picks. Read more in the press release below. The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV can now provide power to the home in Japan. The vehicle-to-home capability requires the CHAdeMO quick charging socket and either Mitsubishi's own Smart V2H system, or the EVPower Station or Tsubaki eLINK system. The Outlander PHEV gained vehicle-to-home approval alongside all-electric vehicles because its electric motor doesn't run when used in for this purpose. The system allows owners to power their homes during outages and emergencies, and the Outlander PHEV can also directly power appliances with its 1500W AC100V power feeder. Read more at Green Car Congress. The Electric Vehicle Institute has published an updated "Plug-In Around the EV World" poster. The poster depicts the various connector types used by EVs. It shows the standard AC connectors for the US and Europe, DC and combination connectors for fast charging and, of course, Tesla's own charging connector for the Model S. In fact, the automaker won more awards than any other automaker, including the most of the Institute's highest honor. In all, eight Toyota and Lexus vehicles earned a Top Safety Pick+ rating. IIHS in particular recognized the Prius V for its significantly improved performance all-around in the small overlap crash test – naming it a Top Safety Pick+. Mitsubishi drops two more teasers of new Outlander
Mon, Mar 23 2015Mitsubishi just keeps teasing the debut of the refreshed 2016 Outlander at the 2015 New York Auto Show on April 2. The Japanese brand already hinted at the updated CUV's look on the company's invitation to the event in the Big Apple. Now, it released an even clearer view of the front and the first official look at the crossover's rear. Debuting Mitsubishi's new design language, a shot of an Outlander waiting at port already revealed its new nose completely undisguised. The brand's latest teaser provides yet another glimpse at it and further confirms the X-shaped front end that's outlined in chrome. As with the rest of the updated styling, the rear also adapts the look of last year's Concept-S. The taillights are still separated into three bars, but here they stop at the tailgate in the center, rather than running all the way across like on the show car. Beyond just the refreshed styling, the 2016 Outlander has over 100 improvements, according to Mitsubishi, including NHV refinements, better handling and improved throttle response. Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV US launch delayed over battery shortage
Mon, 30 Dec 2013Mitsubishi resumed full-scale battery production in August after a five-month shutdown due to a safety investigation. Supplier Lithium Energy Japan has been delivering 4,000 battery packs each month since September, but that's apparently still not enough to fill the overseas inventory pipeline for the Outlander PHEV and i subcompact EV while launching the Outlander PHEV here in the US. So instead of the previous tentative launch date of Fall 2014, the plug-in hybrid's Stateside on-sale date has been pushed back until 2015.
That's according to Automotive News, which also notes that Mitsubishi has sold 11,300 plug-in Outlanders this year, though that number reflects the production stoppage over the battery issues. As of April, battery supplier LEJ will be able to supply 5,000 packs per month just for the Outlander, but company president Osamu Masuko has gone on record saying that production will have to rise above that in order to make the US launch.
Every Mitsubishi dealer (and hopefully a fair number of consumers) will be looking forward to a crossover that, for the moment, doesn't really have natural rivals. The Outlander PHEV can drive 32 miles on electricity alone, has a top speed of 75 miles per hour in EV mode and offers all-wheel drive with a towing capacity of over 3,000 pounds. The model should get an impressive MPGe rating from the EPA when it finally arrives and it figures to be a bellwether for the plug-in Outlander Sport and Pajero utility vehicles that are expected to arrive after it. Hopefully 2015 will be its year.
