1992 Mitsubishi 3000gt Vr-4 Twin Turbo Pearl White 98k on 2040-cars
Pasadena, Maryland, United States
1992 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 Twin Turbo All Wheel Drive 98,485 Original miles, 5 speed transmission, 4 heel Steering, Electronic Controlled Suspension Pearl White exterior with black leather interior I am selling my VR-4 due to relocating for work and will not have the space to keep the car anymore. It is a beautiful vehicle that turns heads every where I would take it. I have owned the car for 7 years and have only put about 12k miles on it since I have owned it. It is a rare car in rare condition. It runs and drives great with the electronic suspension and 4 wheel steering. It has a lot of power and really sticks to the ground. I have done a lot of work to the car to maintain it, but it does not have a lot of aftermarket parts and has not been raced or abused. It has a rare color combination of pearl white with black leather interior. It is in great shape for a 22 year old car. This is a non-smoker vehicle and I purchased the car from the second owner. I have babied the car since I have owned it because their are not many left in this condition or any condition for that matter. It has normal wear and tear for a 22 year old car and I will try to highlight every known defect of the vehicle that I can think of. The paint is in great shape but it does have a few scrapes and dings from over the years that I will try to detail below. This car has always been taken care of and I have spent a lot of time and money on this car. It has all the features that the VR-4 had in 1992, including power seats, steering wheel controls, etc.The car is being sold as is where is, no test rides, I have taken the insurance and tags off of the vehicle with anticipation of selling and moving. I live in a private area that I can show you the car runs great and drives fine. However, I will not permit anyone to take the car onto the main roads because it does not have insurance on it and I will not risk the vehicle. If you have any questions feel free to ask and the car is for sale locally as well. Modifications: Mandrel bent exhaust system ( cat-back ) K&N intake with filter adapter HKS boost guage HKS EVC-2 controller Performance vacuum hosing Maintenance: Heads rebuilt ( new valves, machined, guides, seals ) New battery Negatives: Has a few dings in the car ( drivers door has two outward dings and a very small crease that can be hard to see unless you look at it just right ) Hood has a few dings and scratches Active aero has been disabled because previous owner removed front active aero, rear wing does work with active aero simulator Tires need to be replaced ( had volk wheels on the car and when I wanted to send them off to get powder coated, I bought a set of stock tires and rims from a salvage yard and one of the tires is rough, the other 3 are ok but have dry rot, unfortunately my volk wheels were stolen from the facility so I am stuck with these and have not had a chance to put tires on them because I don't drive the car ) Needs rear windshield wiper blade.
Driver side window does not work, motor and cables are fine, plastic clip on actuator broke and needs to be pop riveted back on but I did not fix this because it happened during the winter time, window is locked in the up position. Does not have original owners manual Only have one key for the car Drivers seat has some wear on the edges from getting in and out of the car but the interior looks amazing. I have tried to list everything negative about the car that I can think of or know of. Any questions feel free to ask. Payment: $2500 to be paid via paypal within 24 hours of end of auction. Remainder to be paid in cash upon pick up. Car is to be picked up within 3 days of end of auction. Buyer is responsible for shipment of vehicle. No warranties, car is sold as-is where is.

The Mitsubishi GT-PHEV Concept offers an unsightly look into the automaker's future
Wed, Sep 14 2016It was only a few months ago that Mitsubishi teased the Grand Tourer Concept with an image of the SUV's side profile. Now that it's just a few weeks before the Paris Motor Show, Mitsubishi released some renderings of the GT-PHEV Concept that will influence the rest of the automaker's lineup for the future. Mitsubishi is touting the concept as a "high-end next-generation SUV." Styling may indeed be subjective, but the GT-PHEV Concept has a face that only a mother could love. There's a bit of Lexus-like hate-it-or-like-it in the fascia, and the rest of it looks similar to that of the eX Concept that was revealed last year. Both concepts have grille openings that resemble the letter X, three hexagonal fog lights on the sides, and tiny slivers for headlights. The side profile of the GT-PHEV Concept reminds us of a Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, which isn't such a bad thing. The back of the concept features a rakish design with thin wrap-around taillights that also look good. If you can get past the SUV's looks, you'll find comfort the GT-PHEV's powertrain to be an interesting look into the future. The concept features Mitsubishi's next-gen plug-in hybrid system, which is comprised of three electric motors (one in the front and two at the back), a regular internal combustion engine, and a high-capacity battery. The systems work together as a full-time four-wheel-drive system. On electric-only power, the GT-PHEV Concept can travel an estimated 75 miles, while the car's total range is roughly 746 miles. Mitsubishi claims the GT-PHEV Concept is a ground tourer capable of chewing away the miles with ease. And while the automaker didn't include any images of the vehicle's interior, Mitsubishi claims the concept has a cockpit-like interior that wraps around the front passengers. The interior leather color can also be found on the roof of the vehicle for a "classy" look. Mitsubishi continues to focus on SUVs and crossovers, but we doubt the automaker will put a vehicle that looks like the GT-PHEV Concept on the road. We think this concept is more for show, but it will probably be used as inspiration for the design of the next Mitsubishi Outlander. Here's hoping that face gets toned down some.
Question of the Day: Most heinous act of badge engineering?
Wed, Dec 30 2015Badge engineering, in which one company slaps its emblems on another company's product and sells it, has a long history in the automotive industry. When Sears wanted to sell cars, a deal was made with Kaiser-Frazer and the Sears Allstate was born. Iranians wanted new cars in the 1960s, and the Rootes Group was happy to offer Hillman Hunters for sale as Iran Khodro Paykans. Sometimes, though, certain badge-engineered vehicles made sense only in the 26th hour of negotiations between companies. The Suzuki Equator, say, which was a puzzling rebadge job of the Nissan Frontier. How did that happen? My personal favorite what-the-heck-were-they-thinking example of badge engineering is the 1971-1973 Plymouth Cricket. Chrysler Europe, through its ownership of the Rootes Group, was able to ship over Hillman Avanger subcompacts for sale in the US market. This would have made sense... if Chrysler hadn't already been selling rebadged Mitsubishi Colt Galants (as Dodge Colts) and Simca 1100s as (Simca 1204s) in its American showrooms. Few bought the Cricket, despite its cheery ad campaign. So, what's the badge-engineered car you find most confounding? Junkyard Gem: 1995 Mitsubishi Diamante Station Wagon
Tue, Apr 4 2017Chrysler sold Dodge- and Plymouth-badged Mitsubishis in the United States starting in the early 1970s, but it wasn't until the 1983 model year that Mitsubishi sold cars under their own name on this side of the Pacific. The Diamante made its American debut for the 1992 model year, but it proved unable to steal many sales from the likes of Lexus and Infiniti and not many were sold. Sure, it was big and comfortable, but SUV and minivan sales soon squeezed most wagons out of the American marketplace. Here's a rare '95 station wagon, spotted in a California yard recently. 240,664 miles on the clock, which is much higher than the not-very-trashed interior might suggest. The owner or owners of this car got their money's worth out of it. The 6G72 3.0-liter V6 went into Chrysler minivans, Mitsubishi 3000GTs, and many members of the extended Chrysler K-Car family; production of this versatile engine continued well into our current century. This one was rated at 175 horsepower. Technically, this isn't a Japanese car, since the Diamante wagons were built in Australia. Rumor has it that some 5-speed Diamante wagons were sold in the United States, but I have never seen one. 1995 was the last year for the Diamante wagon in the United States, and the Camry and Accord wagons soon got the axe as well.
