Want a fun car and 30+ mpg with a 100,000 mile warranty!?

2009 Mini Cooper: John Cooper Works
57,xxx miles
6 speed manual
leather seats
factory navigation

The John Cooper Works edition brings all the features of the Cooper S but adds upgraded engine output (210hp versus the Cooper S at 180hp), beefier transmission and clutch, stiffer suspension and of course the big Brembo brakes.  The car comes with the Convenience Package (multi-function steering wheel, universal garage door opener, comfort access system (keyless entry, keyless start), auto dimming rearview mirror, center armrest, rain sensor and auto headlight, hands-free bluetooth and USB/iPod).  Tasteful carbon fiber bits inside and out, nothing tacky or overbearing.  The car is immaculate, meticulously maintained and drives amazing.  There is a single blemish on the driver's side rear panel, nothing major.  Mechanically, the car needs nothing, everything works and I have had no issues with this car.  I purchased the car from Carmax in June 2012, so not too long ago did it get their 100+ point inspection.

Aftermarket parts include:
[*]Helix stepped core intercooler
[*]NM Engineering air charge pipe
[*]NM Engineering discharge pipe
[*]NM Engineering torque arm insert
[*]Cravenspeed shorty antenna
[*]Outmotoring Gen2 side scuttles

Additional parts available:
[*]XXR 521 17" wheels
[*]Hankook Ventus V12 w/ less than 1000 miles, 90%+ treadlife
[*]H&R trak+ spacers 20mm offset

Most importantly, this car will come with a fully transferable extended warranty that will cover the car to 100,000 miles. I have all records for service and aftermarket parts.

Asking: $22,500.  Serious inquiries only.  I think this is a solid and fair price for this car which includes the warranty.  This sale only includes the factory alloy JCW wheels.  I will sell separately the black XXR 521 17" wheels, Hankook V12's and the H&R spacers for $800 as shown in some pictures below.

Any questions, feel free to contact me.  Thanks for looking.
~Mike

How Mini shacked up with John Cooper

Fri, 31 Jan 2014

The late Sir Alexander Arnold Constantine Issigonis, Alec Issignonis to his Internet friends, designed a car that was sold as the Morris Mini-Minor, the Austin Seven and later the Austin Mini. Go to the Mini USA website and check out the models, though, and every one of them is called a Cooper of some sort, e.g., Mini Cooper Paceman or Mini Cooper S Roadster. So who is Cooper?
It's probably obvious that it's the same Cooper we get in "John Cooper Works," those JCW Minis that always make up the top of the line. But many probably don't know that that John Cooper, founder of John Cooper Cars, is the same man who accidentally got the motorsports world to switch to rear-engined race cars and the same Formula One constructor who won two titles in 1959 and 1960 and who fielded drivers like Bruce McLaren and Stirling Moss.
On its way to driving the Mini John Cooper Works GP II, XCAR goes back to the beginning to find out when Alec met John, and how the first Mini Cooper came out in 1961, two years after the first Mini. You can watch the story and the car review in the video below.

Mini lineup could expand to include up to 10 models, still no hope for Rocketman

Tue, 12 Feb 2013

During an event in Ponce, Puerto Rico last week where Mini introduced members of the media to the 2013 Paceman and John Cooper Works GP, product planners discussed that the brand's lineup could expand to eventually include up to 10 bodystyles. Currently, the Mini range consists of seven models: the Hardtop, Clubman, Convertible, Countryman, Coupe, Roadster and Paceman.
Speaking to members of the media, David Duncan, Mini USA sales manager, said that these new models could fall into a range of niches - "any segment that makes sense for a small car." No specific vehicle classes were discussed, but Duncan stated that the possibilities are endless, "as long as we're the smallest player in any segment."
Well, nearly endless. We've been hoping that Mini would re-think its decision to nix plans to create a vehicle smaller than the Hardtop - a notion previewed by the excellent Rocketman concept (shown above) from the 2011 Geneva Motor Show - but the automaker once again stated that this is absolutely off the table. In order to create a vehicle of the Rocketman's size, a completely new platform would have to be engineered (that's expensive), and while Mini has looked into acquiring existing architecture from another brand, parent company BMW has reportedly put the kibosh on such an act. If a Rocketman is ever to be born, BMW/Mini will do it on its own, and right now, that simply isn't in the cards.

2014 Mini John Cooper Works Paceman All4

The One Mini Should Have Taken Rallying
It needs to be said: Mini using the Countryman as their World Rally Championship racer's bodystyle of choice has done them no favors on the marketing front. And that's what it's all about in motorsports these days: marketing and image. We have just driven the 2014 Mini John Cooper Works Paceman All4 through Frankfurt's surrounding rural areas, and even in thick snow where few souls dared to tread, it has singularly rekindled some faith in the John Cooper Works sub-brand - a glorious name whose credibility has been threatened by portly and somewhat pointless products like the JCW Countryman.
The JCW Paceman is a little quicker than its Countryman relative, a little lighter, hunkered down lower, and better looking. We can't say we're crazy anymore about the stock Chili Red details and black exterior they keep showing us at these launches, but that's just paint. Then there's that projected pricing of $36k-plus that puts us on the verge of yelling "¡No mas!" But the All4 system on our 215-horsepower Paceman worked extremely well when paired with a set of exceptional Pirelli Sottozero Winter 210 Serie II tires (sized 205/55 R17 91H all around). The combination of all-wheel drive and good rubber encouraged us to gradually up the average speed and enthusiasm the further we drove along.
