2006 Mini Cooper S - John Cooper Works - Jcw on 2040-cars
Oakland, California, United States
Our growing family requires more room for car-seats. And so offered for sale is our little mini.
Its an '06 John cooper works model which to us was the prime model to have. Here are some reasons you'll love this one more than others: Last year of the truly smaller body style, with the real hood scoop. Last year of the supercharged engine, Factory John Cooper Works package provides upgraded brakes, most powerful engine offered, and factory upgraded suspension, exhaust, six speed manual gearbox. Color is a stylish and refined black leather on astro-black paint, with panoramic double sunroof. In our opinion it is the most tasteful combination of body style, interior, drivetrain, and options. Car has just now been professionally detailed inside and out by "clean green" detailer, using non-toxic cleaners. Owned by non-smokers. Interior and exterior are in very good shape, with only minor comsetic blemishes. Mechanically the car is very sound, tires are only a few months old, new battery as of this year, CA smog cert in hand. Coming up on a 90,000 mile service. This car is refined, fast, and fun. A quick engine and a stiff suspension linked to a 6 speed manual makes for great driving excitement, but the car is also economical to own, easily driven, comfortable, and behaves well as a daily driver/grocery getter. We love it and I'm sure you will too, this combination of options reflects the best that mini has to offer. When new it retailed for $32,000. This car is offered for sale elsewhere and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. |

Mini John Cooper Works Concept heading wide-eyed into production
Mon, 13 Jan 2014We now know that Mini will offer a stupendous number of total models over the next few years, so it's fair to assume that most of the brand's concept cars have series production written all over them. So, a 'concept' like this new John Cooper Works Mini is more or less a mortal lock to hit showrooms in very similar trim.
That's probably a good thing for future JCW owners, as this Mini looks decidedly better than the standard car that debuted in Los Angeles late last year. Something about the bigger grille, lowered front fascia and pumped up wheel arches make the car more visually compelling than the weird-nosed 2014 Mini Hardtop. (At least to this author.)
By hey, don't take our word for it - with the official press release down below, and our box-fresh gallery of live images up above, you can make up your minds for yourselves. Tell us what you think in the Comments.
Mini JCW Convertible spied looking cold
Fri, Mar 13 2015The Mini Convertible John Cooper Works has stripped off almost all of the camo it was wearing when we last saw it a few months back. There's not much left to the imagination anymore, and all that remains are some swirls to hide a little of the hood and rear. As expected, the entire front end, rear bumper, central exhausts and subtly flared wheel arches come directly from the JCW take on the two-door Hardtop. Except for the Convertible's repositioned antenna and lowering top, the two models are essentially the same on the outside. With the standard, third-gen Mini droptop not actually unveiled yet, all of the camouflage at the back is likely there to hide the way the roof folds down. Under the hood, expect the latest JCW 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder producing 228 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque with a choice of six-speed manual or automatic gearboxes. Of course, the Convertible also adds the thrill of tipping the throttle with the top down. Mini hasn't hinted at a reveal date for the latest Convertible yet. However, these shots suggest development is at a fairly advanced state, so an official debut is likely not too far off. Related Video:
Poor headlights cause 40 cars to miss IIHS Top Safety Pick rating
Mon, Aug 6 2018Over the past few months, we've noticed a number of cars and SUVs that have come incredibly close to earning one of the IIHS's highest accolades, the Top Safety Pick rating. They have great crash test scores and solid automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning systems. What trips them up is headlights. That got us wondering, how many vehicles are there that are coming up short because they don't have headlights that meet the organization's criteria for an "Acceptable" or "Good" rating. This is a revision made after 2017, a year in which headlights weren't factored in for this specific award. This is also why why some vehicles, such as the Ford F-150, might have had the award last year, but have lost it for this year. We reached out to someone at IIHS to find out. He responded with the following car models. Depending on how you count, a whopping 40 models crash well enough to receive the rating, but don't get it because their headlights are either "Poor" or "Marginal." We say depending on how you count because the IIHS actual counts truck body styles differently, and the Infiniti Q70 is a special case. Apparently the version of the Q70 that has good headlights doesn't have adequate forward collision prevention technology. And the one that has good forward collision tech doesn't have good enough headlights. We've provided the entire list of vehicles below in alphabetical order. Interestingly, it seems the Volkswagen Group is having the most difficulty providing good headlights with its otherwise safe cars. It had the most models on the list at 9 split between Audi and Volkswagen. GM is next in line with 7 models. It is worth noting again that though these vehicles have subpar headlights and don't quite earn Top Safety Pick awards, that doesn't mean they're unsafe. They all score well enough in crash testing and forward collision prevention that they would get the coveted award if the lights were better.
