2006 Mini Cooper S Convertible 2-door 1.6l on 2040-cars
Cookeville, Tennessee, United States
For sale is an immaculate, low mileage, pepper white 2006 Mini Cooper S Convertible with black leather interior and black integrated sliding sunroof, manual six speed (Getrag), with nearly all factory options and a Dinan performance package. The DINAN package features a Free Flow Exhaust which dramatically improves exhaust flow for increased power and a very sporty exhaust note. The increased flow, as well as a substantial weight reduction result from a design that employs a single 100 % stainless steel muffler. The polished stainless exhaust tips give the car a more aggresive look as well. The car also features the DINAN Front Strut Tower Brace which enhances chassis rigidity for improved handling capabilities, as well as a look that screams high performance. A new steering pump with fan (OEM) as well as a new harmonic balancer (OEM) have been installed. For those familiar with the MINI Cooper car those parts fail pretty much every 50.000 miles. In addition 4 new 205/45R17 Pirelli PZero RFT RunFlat tires (17" wheels), 4 new brake rotors with new brake pads, new spark plugs, a new serpentine belt, a new oil filter and a new battery have been installed. The engine oil has been changed and the hydraulic steering pump lines refilled with T1 hydraulic oil (OEM). The coulant fluid has also been replaced and the coulant system bled. Manufacturer's installed equipment & option list. Harman Kardon Premium sound system with single CD and iPod interface, display element with cockpit chrono pack, multifunction steering wheel, wind deflector, 6-speed Getrag manual transmission, cruise control, on board computer, park distance control, automatic climate control, driving lights with blacked out grill, front fog lamps with cover, alarm system with keyless entry. The car comes with two sets of keys and complete manual package (owners manual, iPod interface...etc) in it's original MINI pouch. The imperfections: The rear soft top weather strip is cracked but doesn't seem to leak. All wheels have curb rash, only noticeable when viewed up close. There is a single piece of interior trim part missing. I have driven this car for several hundreds of miles and it is a hoot to drive. There are no shakes or ratles. The brakes are strong and even paced. The car will be professionally detailed and delivered with a full tank Upon buying I expect a down payment of $500 to be paid through Paypal. The balance is due at the time of delivery or upon shipping.A $ 50.00 doc fee is included in the price

Automotive April Fools' joke roundup [w/videos]
Mon, 01 Apr 2013Happy April, everyone. And we all know what this first day of the month means: April Fools' Day. Today is a national holiday for pranksters with the Internet acting as a serious enabler, and it's always fun to see what kind of vivid imaginations exist out there in the automotive world. The abundance of fake news gets a little old as the day rolls on, but we did manage to get in a few chuckles thanks to a handful of major automakers and automotive news outlets that got into the pranking spirit this year
Some of our favorites this year includes Subaru showing what happens when you combine a bunch of rumors, a Corvette some may have already thought was a joke or Honda providing some in-car innovation circa the late 1980s. Honestly, we're still waiting for official confirmation from Mitsubishi that the recently introduced 2014 Mirage is an elaborate April Fools' joke using a failed design intended for the 1995 Geo Metro. We dug up as much "official" OEM foolishness we could find, as well as some of our other favorites, and posted them all below.
Judge to approve settlement of Mini CVT lawsuits
Sun, 25 Aug 2013BMW has agreed to settle a number of class-action lawsuits out of court. The suits stem from drivetrain issues on the 2001 to 2006 R50 Mini Cooper - in particular, its continuously variable transmission. The transmission was known to fail, often without warning on otherwise healthy and well-maintained vehicles. This wasn't the only major issue to afflict the original BMW-era Mini models.
According to legal site Topclassactions.com, the suits alleged that BMW knowingly hid the defects in the CVT from customers while informing dealers of the issue. The first suit was filed in 2011, while four additional suits have followed. Now, BMW has reportedly settled, offering to reimburse 1,200 owners that needed repairs within eight years or 150,000 miles of their purchase. Repair prices for the transmission range from $6,000 to $9,000.
Under the agreement, BMW will also offer up to $4,100 to members of the suit that had fixes performed at a third-party shop, while owners who sold their cars at a loss due to the issues are slated to receive up to $2,000. Finally, owners who are part of the suit will be warrantied for a further eight years and 150,000 miles.
Mini recalling 92k vehicles over airbag flaw
Sun, Apr 19 2015An issue with the airbags on Mini hatchbacks and convertibles has prompted BMW of North America and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to issue a recall for an estimated 91,800 vehicles. The problem, according to the notice below, stems from the occupant detection mat for the front passenger seat, which may fail to detect a passenger present and therefor fail to deploy the airbag in the event of a crash. The specific models affected by the recall are the Mini Cooper and Cooper S hardtops from the 2005 and 2006 model years and manufactured between January 5, 2005, and November 28, 2006, as well as the Mini Cooper Convertible and Cooper S Convertible from the 2005 to 2008 model years, manufactured between January 5, 2005, and July 31, 2008. To address the issue, Mini dealers will be replacing the front passenger seat occupant detection mat, with recalls set to commence on May 1. Related Video: RECALL Subject : Front Passenger Seat Occupant Detection Mat Report Receipt Date: APR 06, 2015 NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V205000 Component(s): AIR BAGS Potential Number of Units Affected: 91,800 Manufacturer: BMW of North America, LLC SUMMARY: BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain model year 2005-2006 MINI Cooper and Cooper S vehicles manufactured January 5, 2005, to November 28, 2006, and 2005-2008 MINI Cooper Convertible and Cooper S Convertible vehicles manufactured January 5, 2005, to July 31, 2008. Due to manufacturing, installation, and exposure issues, the front passenger seat occupant detection mat may not function properly and, as a result, the front passenger air bag may not deploy in a crash. CONSEQUENCE: An improperly functioning mat may cause the passenger frontal air bag to be inactive when the seat is occupied, and in the event of a crash, the air bag will not deploy, increasing the passenger's risk of injury. REMEDY: MINI will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front passenger seat occupant detection mat, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin May 1, 2015. Owners may contact MINI customer service at 1-866-825-1525. NOTES: Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
