This is a fun car! It isn't perfect aesthetically, but its VERY sound mechanically. I bought this car with the intention of running it in SCCA solo events, so its been on the track a couple times. Unfortunately I haven't had the time to have much fun with it and I'd like something more comfortable. This car has been my daily driver since I bought it and it's totally reliable, but frankly its a bit stiff for the crappy roads where I live and its not great for road trips.
I purchased the car from a Mini mechanic in Boston almost two years ago. Here's a few of the add-ons and maintenance that I can list off the top of my head:
Prior to my purchase:
- Transmission and engine rebuild (apparently a valet worker fried the motor)
- Performance pulleys on supercharger
- MSD ignition
- Carbon Fiber hood
- Short throw shifter
- Miltek exhaust (not loud, but high quality)
Since I've owned the car (within the last 7k miles)
- Performance clutch and flywheel (can't recall the brand, but my mechanic will have records)
- Fresh brake rotors and pads all around
- New tires (two sets of wheels)
- Cold air intake
I like to stay on top of maintenance and repairs, so like I said this car runs really well. Its very quick and a blast to drive.
Please let me know if you have any questions on the car at all. I can have some of the more recent service history printed off by my mechanic as well. The car currently needs nothing! I'm just ready for a change of pace.

Watch Jay Leno bounce around with Dakar winner Roma in his Mini All4Racing
Mon, 03 Mar 2014With Jay Leno off the Tonight Show, he has all the time in the world to focus on his passion for cars and can even travel a little. Leno teamed up with two-time Dakar Rally winner Nani Roma to jump and slide a Mini Countryman All4 racing truck around the dunes in Death Valley, CA.
The Mini-branded trucks are highly modified for off-road duty. They have won the Dakar Rally consecutively in 2012, 2013 and 2014 and even took a 1-2-3 finish in the most recent running. The specialized Minis are propelled over the dunes by a BMW-sourced, diesel engine with a six-speed sequential gearbox and heavy-duty all-wheel drive system with a locking center differential.
It is amusing to see the big smile on Leno's face, and Roma appears a little worried while Jay is driving. If this is what to expect from the post-Tonight Show Jay Leno's Garage videos, then things are only getting better from an already fantastic series. BMW sold 2.49 million BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce vehicles in 2018
Tue, Jan 8 2019FRANKFURT — German carmaker BMW on Tuesday said it achieved record sales of 2.49 million BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce vehicles last year. "BMW Group achieved record sales in 2018. 2.49 million vehicles mean the BMW Group is the world's leading premium automotive company for the 15th year running," Chief Executive Harald Krueger said. In 2017, BMW Group sold 2.46 million vehicles. Daimler has not yet released annual sales figures for Mercedes-Benz passenger cars, so it remains unclear whether BMW brand overtook Mercedes-Benz in terms of sales in 2018. Sales of BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce cars were higher than Mercedes-Benz in 2017.
2014 Mini John Cooper Works Countryman All4
Fri, 11 Apr 2014The standard Mini Countryman is a bit of an odd duck against the backdrop of 'normal' small crossovers like the Mazda CX-5 and the Ford Escape, but I sort of get it. Apply the same winning Mini formula to a CUV, and you get a smaller-than-average entry in the segment, one that is far more entertaining to drive than the norm, more stylish inside and out and pretty expensive when cross-shopped. That list of qualities doesn't appeal to all crossover shoppers, sure, but it intrigues a big enough list that the Countryman has reason for being.
Now, add the expensive John Cooper Works package to the Countryman's already niche goodies list, and Mini starts to lose me. So, I'm getting the softer suspended, taller, generally less dynamically joyful version of the brand's core values, but now you're charging me at least $35,000 ($13k more expensive than the basic, front-drive Cooper Countryman and $7k more than the MSRP of the Cooper S All4 version)? What's that? You're going to make it look like a garish, tippy-toed tuner car in the process? Take my money.
Or, actually, let me keep it. I can swing with a lot of the weirdness that Mini has to offer, but this car pushed me past my limit.
