This is NOT your run of the mill used Mini Cooper! I ordered this car for myself in 2008 and ran down the option list missing only the navigation system as I felt it was a silly option. Everything else, was added! Most of the cars out there were produced for the lot and lack many of the options to keep the pricing down. Not this one...it was for ME! This car is a fair weather car only as I have other cars to drive...this is my "fun" car and it has fulfilled my every dream! Its fun to drive and it gets great gas mileage too! I relocated the car to my second home in Arizona in 2012(it was the best long drive I ever had) and now I have the desire to have a convertible to drive when I am there so I have to part with my beloved Mini. Option list is: MSRP $21,200.plus $650 delivery Lounge Leather Seating $2000 Convenience Package $1500 Cold Weather Package $500 Premium Package $ 1500 Anthracite Headliner $250 17" rims $750 Steptronic Trans $1250 Stability Control $500 Chrome line interior $250 Rear Fog Lamps $100 Xenon headlight $500 Satalite radio $1000 subscription is paid FOREVER! White Turn Signals $100 JCW side skirts $ 1500 plus labor Mini car cover, mini checkered side scuttles, professional window tint, Lamin-X over headlights, Carbon Fiber trim, Viper stripes, and on and on............ Look at the pictures and see for yourself. I even have donut spare tire in case you want to take it on a long trip like I did ( S models do not come with spare. they have run-flat tires) The most recent full service has been done by Scottsdale Mini this January and all service updates have been performed. I have all records for the car since it was delivered. It is absolutely like a new car! Not a scratch, nick, ding EVER!..... NOTHING but a brand new car! All rims are perfect as well. Having spent most of its life under a cover, in a climate controlled garage, and on a battery tender, the car looks as if it was delivered yesterday!. While I am very proud of my car, I am also realistic that it has depreciated over the years and will make the second owner a great car at a great price! No sales tax as I am a private party. My reserve reflects the current market value. The reason for selling is I have the "hots" for a convertible or I would keep this forever....wife says "one toy at a time" so it has to go....plus the garage is getting cramped! If you have any questions, please ask before you bid. Any shipping costs are not included in this auction. Please budget this when bidding as it will be additional unless you plan to pick the car up.

Mini John Cooper Works Concept heading wide-eyed into production

Mon, 13 Jan 2014

We now know that Mini will offer a stupendous number of total models over the next few years, so it's fair to assume that most of the brand's concept cars have series production written all over them. So, a 'concept' like this new John Cooper Works Mini is more or less a mortal lock to hit showrooms in very similar trim.
That's probably a good thing for future JCW owners, as this Mini looks decidedly better than the standard car that debuted in Los Angeles late last year. Something about the bigger grille, lowered front fascia and pumped up wheel arches make the car more visually compelling than the weird-nosed 2014 Mini Hardtop. (At least to this author.)
By hey, don't take our word for it - with the official press release down below, and our box-fresh gallery of live images up above, you can make up your minds for yourselves. Tell us what you think in the Comments.

Mini Countryman plug-in hybrid out for a snowy stroll

Mon, Feb 2 2015

When Mini launched the Countryman in 2010, it emerged as the brand's first all-wheel-drive model. Now there's a new Countryman on the way, and it's also set to mark a Mini first by incorporating not just a mild hybrid system, but a plug-in hybrid powertrain. And that's just what we're looking at here. How do we know this prototype is packing a hybrid powertrain, you ask? A fair question, and we'll tell you: because the manufacturer chose to mark "Hybrid Test Vehicle" on the door. And because parent company BMW is already known to be working on a PHEV system for the 2 Series Active Tourer on which the new Mini crossover will be based, it's fairly safe to say it won't be developing a separate system for the Countryman. Expect the hybrid mega-Mini to combine a 1.5-liter inline-three driving 136 horsepower to the front wheels, and an electric motor good for another 102 hp on the rear wheels for through-the-road all-wheel drive and a combined output of nearly 240 hp. That's more than even the John Cooper Works performance model has offered. Scope out the spy shots in the gallery above, where you'll also find an interior shot of a conventional next-gen Countryman.

Why the 2020 Mini John Cooper Works GP doesn't have a manual

Thu, Nov 21 2019

LOS ANGELES — The 2020 Mini John Cooper Works GP is an interesting machine. While it shares a lot in common with its predecessors, such as the big rear wing, no rear seat, four-spoke wheels and other aggressive design cues, it has a number of distinct differences. In particular, it has a massive amount of power relative to old models, and it doesn't have a manual transmission. This all left us with some questions that we brought to some Mini representatives. We'll start with the big one: "Where's our manual?" The representatives said a lot about how manual take rates are declining, and the smooth, quick-shifting automatic transmission fits a track-oriented car. But they also eventually admitted that they don't have a manual transmission available that would be strong enough to handle the turbo 2.0-liter engine's 301 horsepower and prodigious 332 pound-feet of torque. On the other hand, the engine, which is also used in the John Cooper Works Countryman, Clubman, and small BMWs, already has an automatic developed. And obviously, the company didn't feel it was worth it to develop a stronger gearbox for a run of just 3,000 cars. At the very least, having experienced Mini automatics in the past, they are good, and to make the experience a little more engaging, Mini has custom 3D-printed aluminum alloy shift paddles for the GP that do feel good. Another thing we were curious about was the disappearance of the Nurburgring lap time from the dashboard. Spy shots showed a time of 7:56.69 on a 3D-printed dash panel. The 3D-printed dashboard remains, but it will now have each model's production number instead. The display car uses 2020 as an example. The Mini representatives said that past customers cared more about which number of car they had, rather than a lap time. This is also in keeping with past GP models that all displayed their production numbers somewhere in the interior. The new GP's most striking features, though, are its carbon fiber fender flares. They serve a couple of purposes, such as accommodating the car's wider track and tires. According to one of the representatives, they also help direct airflow and reduce drag, but she didn't say by how much. Then there's the appearance, which is unusual at the least, looking almost like vertical wings, and it's inspired by the outrageous concept. Although they're made of carbon fiber, it's more of a molded style than the woven variety seen on many cars.
