CLASSIC 1956 MORRIS MINOR
EXCELLENT CONDITION
RARE SPLIT SCREEN MORRIS MINOR IN EXCELLENT, ORIGINAL CONDITION.
THIS WAS ONE OF THE LAST MODELS WITH THE SPLIT SCREEN. IT HAS THE SEMAPHORE TURN INDICATORS. THIS MINOR WAS ORIGINALLY MANUFACTURED ON JANUARY 26, 1956, AND PURCHASED IN IRELAND BY A MIDWIFE FROM W.H. ALEXANDER, LIMITED, IN BELFAST ON MARCH 26 1956. IT THEN HAD THREE ADDITIONAL OWNERS UNTIL 1975 WHEN A COLLECTOR PURCHASED THE CAR AND STORED IT IN COUNTY ANTRIM, IRELAND. IN 1985 ANOTHER CAR COLLECTOR FROM ENGLAND BOUGHT THE MORRIS TO ADD TO HIS COLLECTION OF MORRIS CARS. I PURCHASED THE MINOR IN APRIL 2007 FROM THE FAMILY ESTATE SALE.
THE CONDITION OF THE MORRIS IS EXCELLENT. ALL ORIGINAL, NO BODY DAMAGE, AND NO RUST AREAS. THE UNDERSIDE IS RUST-FREE AND VERY CLEAN. EVERYTHING ON THE MORRIS WORKS PERFECTLY. THERE ARE NO ISSUES. THE INTERIOR STILL HAS THAT OLD CAR LEATHER SMELL. IT APPEARS THAT THE CAR HAS SPENT MORE TIME IN STORAGE THAN ON THE ROAD.
ALL THE CHROME ITEMS WERE REPLACED INCLUDING NEW BONNET MOTIF, NEW BUMPERS, GRILL SURROUNDS, NEW DOOR OUTER DOOR HANDLES (VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND) BONNET AND BOOT HINGES AND NEW ORIGINAL PINSTRIPING. TWO NEW REAR TIRES WERE FITTED AND A NEW ORIGINAL HEADLINER.
I HAVE THE ORIGINAL BUFF LOG BOOK OF THE PREVIOUS OWNERS PLUS THE BRITISH MOTOR HERITAGE CERTIFICATE THAT CONFIRMS THE CAR'S AUTHENTICITY. PRIOR TO BEING IMPORTED INTO THE U.S., THE MORRIS UNDERWENT THE STRINGENT MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT TEST THAT IS REQUIRED FOR ALL BRITISH VEHCILES THAT ARE MORE THAN THREE YEARS OF AGE. IT PASSED WITHOUT ANY ADVISORIES AND I HAVE THE CERTIFICATE. THE MILEAGE SHOWS 36,553 WHICH IS BELIEVED TO BE CORRECT.
THE MORRIS HAS BEEN VERY WELL CARED FOR THROUGHOUT IT'S LIFE AND IT SHOWS. MOST OF THESE MODELS ARE LONG GONE AND MOST THAT ARE AVAILABLE REQUIRE FULL RESTORATION. IT IS THE PERFECT COLLECTOR/SHOW CAR. IT RUNS AND DRIVES AS IT WOULD HAVE DONE IN 1956.

Help Mini decide on its next limited-edition Cooper
Mon, 17 Feb 2014Mini likes to make a big hullabaloo about the number of ways its cars can be configured, which currently stands at 10 million. While that figure is impressive, the BMW-owned brand is always looking for new and unique design variations, a trend that has seen a number of special-edition Minis pop up over the years boasting unique color and trim items.
For the new, third-generation F56 Mini, the British brand is at it again. Only this time, the cars are designed and chosen by Mini's fans in a new contest. Called "The New Originals," Mini teamed its 10 Final Test Test Drive winners with an illustrator to design their perfect Mini, one of which will become the next special-edition model.
The ten cars are currently being voted on by the brand's fans on the Mini USA website, with the winner set to be announced at the 2014 New York Auto Show in April. A total of 56 examples of the winning entry will then be put on sale, making this one of the most limited of Mini's many limited editions. Voting closes on February 19, so hop over to the page and vote for your favorite.
2014 Mini Cooper rockets into view
Mon, 01 Jul 2013Here it is, all but undisguised. We've been clocking the 2014 Mini Cooper for months now, but engineers' well-placed camouflage has meant that our views have been very limited. Today, though, the disguises have been cast aside and the new Mini has been revealed in both standard and Cooper S form during a photo shoot, and there are some real surprises afoot.
For one, we had no idea that the Cooper would adopt the LED daytime running lamp corona headlamps from the much-loved 2011 Rocketman concept, but there they are, looking both unique and a little frightened. The front grille has been resculpted and and is now more rounded, integrating the bumper strike face in matte black. In fact, the entire nose looks a bit more rounded to our eyes, with all variants carrying a small but noticeable power bulge (shown here on the S model above the intake slot in the hood). The profile looks largely unchanged save for a slightly faster windshield, but the rear picks up a set of oversized taillamps that we'll likely have to see in person to get comfortable with. Our spy shooters tell us that the 2014 Cooper, codenamed F56, appears to be slightly larger in the metal than its predecessor, as expected, with much of that length coming in the form of a longer front overhang (perhaps to assist with pedestrian safety regulations).
Expected to ride atop the same UKL architecture shared with the upcoming BMW 1 Series GT and MPV, the entire line of Coopers may move to an all three-cylinder lineup, including BMW's 1.5-liter I3 that features a twin-scroll turbo, direct injection and variable valve timing, a combination good for anywhere between 120 to 200 horsepower. Eventually, higher-performance models could generate up to 300 horsepower out of this tiny engine. Our well-connected lensmen suggest that at least one four-cylinder engine might carry over to the launch of this new generation, but it may only be available for the first model year.
Mini apologizes with chocolate rose after spamming customer's inbox
Thu, 31 Jan 2013If you're a manufacturer, there are only so many ways you can say "sorry" after your automated e-mail system goes berzerk and spams everyone on your mailing list with hundreds of the same message. Mini recently found itself in that very spot, and rather than respond with a sheepish mea culpa, the company's PR team took a different tack by sending owners a very unique gift box. How unique? Inside, one owner found a set of chocolate roses, a roll of duct tape and a genuine can of Spam.
In an accompanying note, the company said it hoped the sweets would help patch things up between the company and the victims of the e-mail barrage, but in the event that wasn't enough to do the trick, the duct tape was there to help out. And the can of Spam? That tagged along just for stress release. Apparently the canned meat is squeezable. We wouldn't know. You can check out full photos of the gift box here.
