The time has come for me to sell my Marauder. I bought it 3 years ago from the 2nd owner with 52,000 miles. He bought it from a dealership that took it in on trade. Its been my DD and I do my best to keep it clean and ding free. The car is not perfect but in above average condition for its age and miles The cars has the following Mods: 4.10 gears Circle D Triple Disc 11” 2600 rpm stall torque converter. \. Built Transmission installed at 64K Supercharger from a 03 Cobra and supporting mods installed at 64K After Market Tune for the Engine management and transmission shift schedule. Engine The engine has never given me any issues. Never burned any oil between changes(3000 mile mobile one for me). No smoke on cold start. I recently replace the timing chain tensioners and guides and the inside of the motor was very clean. Compression numbers are 217 218 222 218 220 210 225 218 When I did the tensioners I installed a new Ford Water Pump, Changed the Oil and coolant and installed new Spark plugs. Unfortunately the motor has developed some noise. Its very hard to describe and can only be heard at idle or very low rpms. It sounds like valve train noise but I can’t be sure. Some say its normal and some say its not but I can hear it. I’ve tried to capture it in some video’s posted below. That being said I still drive the car on a regular bases and wouldn’t hesitate to drive it on a long distance trip. Transmission It’s a 4R75W in a 4R70W case. It has extra clutches, reworked valve body, HD overdrive bands and the Forced Tail Shaft Lube Mod. It currently has about 15k miles on it and I just changed the fluid. This transmission has performed awesome. The shifts are quick and firm at low throttle setting but not to harsh. The more aggressive you get with the throttle the more firm the shifts get. It has a aftermarket 24,000 gvw transmission cooler installed with a 180 degree thermostat. There are two negatives. The tail shaft seal has leaked from the day I installed the transmission. It isn’t bad and hasn’t gotten worse but does leave a drop on the driveway after a couple of nights. The second is the OD to 3rd Downshift. In order to install the extra clutches the “Wave Plate” was removed The only negative to this is when the transmission downshifts from OD to 3Rd you can feel it. Its not bad or scary its just noticeable. On must automatics you can feel the up shifts but as you coast to a stop you can’t feel any of the downshifts. With the “Wave Plate” removed you feel the downshift from OD to 3rd. Torque Converter I installed a 11” Triple Disc Circle D Torque Converter with the new transmission. Based on Chris at Circle D’s recommendation I got a slightly lower then stock stall speed. I loved the way it drives. Rear Differential I installed new Ford Racing 4.10 gears with all new inner bearings and carbon fiber clutches at around 60K. For my type of driving I actually got slightly better gas mileage. 03 Cobra Blower I bought the blower used. Was told it had about 50k on it. I replaced the oil and coupler when I installed it. No issues. I used a Ford GT fuel Pump with BAP. 39# from a Cobra 90m MAF from a Lighting. LFP Dual Pass Lighting Intercooler I used the Stock cobra IAT2 sensor and location. I kept the EGR and it passes Oregon’s emissions testing with no issues. The Car put down 374RWHP and 384 ft-lbs. Air Fuel ratio is 10.2-1 at WOT at 13 degrees of timing. It starts pulling timing at 100 degrees IAT. Most would call that a very conservative. It runs and drives GREAT!!! Driveshaft While the car was down during the Eaton Swap I had the Driveshaft balanced and replaced the U-Joints Interior Is in good shape. There is a crack on the trim around the instrument panel. Org floor mats are a little worn. I’ve treated the leather twice a year. No boost gauge but I replaced the factory gauges with an AEM Air fuel and an Aeroforce gauges. The top of the steering wheel has a strange wrinkle thing going on(see pic). The tires are Nitto Motivo with less the 1000 miles on them. After the tires were installed I had it aligned The Front Brake Pads are new and the rotors were just turned. A/C was recharged last year and blows cold. Body The Paint is in above average condition. No Fading. No Rust. There are some very minor scratches in the rear bumper from my Kids getting stuff out of the trunk. There are three dings/dents that I tried to capture in the pics. All were caused by stray baseballs. There are three good size chips. One on the trunk, one on the right front fender and one on the left rear door. There is what looks like a factory flaw drip mark on the right rear door. There is no evidence that its ever been in a accident. No tape lines and all the paint measures the same thickness throughout the car. The right front wheel has some significant curb rash. The other 3 look good. The windshield has 2 small chips that have been treated to prevent spreading. I will help with shipping in away that I can and live 30 minutes from the Portland Or airport and will be happy to pick anybody up. I can also take video or pictures of anything you need. Cold start after sitting outside all night Cold start after sitting in the garage Moderate acceleration (Best I could do one handed) Boring driving around Video |

2023 Grand National Roadster Show Mega Photo Gallery | Hot rod heaven
Wed, Feb 8 2023POMONA, Calif. — From an outsider's perspective, it would be easy to assume that the Grand National Roadster Show has always been a Southern California institution. After all, it celebrates the diverse postwar car culture of the region — hot rods, lead sleds, lowriders, and more. However, the show had its roots in NorCal in 1950 when Al Slonaker and his hot rod club showed their custom cars at the Oakland Expo. The GNRS moved to Pomona, California, in 2004. By then it had grown exponentially and seen about a dozen more car customization trends come and go. However, the show and its centerpiece award, the America's Most Beautiful Roadster prize, celebrate what is perhaps the first of those trends: the American hot rod in its purest form. Today, in its 73rd year, the GNRS is the oldest indoor car show in America. Annually it welcomes 500-800 cars, gathered into special themes like Tri-Five Chevys or Volkswagen Bugs. At this year's show, which was last weekend, a special hall was dedicated to pickup trucks built between 1948-98, including mini-trucks, groovy camper bed conversions, and resto-mods. However, of all the vehicles presented, only nine are eligible for the America's Most Beautiful Roadster award. Winners get their names engraved on a 9-foot-tall perpetual trophy that was, according to The Ultimate Hot Rod Dictionary, the largest in the world when it debuted in 1950. Slonaker chose the word "roadster" initially because "hot rod" bore slightly negative outlaw connotations in 1950. Only American cars built before 1937 of certain body styles — roadsters, roadster pickups, phaetons, touring cars — are eligible, and they cannot have roll-down side windows. Cars in the running for the cup cannot have been shown anywhere else before their debut at the GNRS. Contestants for this accolade essentially build their cars to the a platonic ideal of a hot rod. This year the honors went to Jack Chisenhall of San Antonio, Texas, for his "Champ Deuce," a 1932 Ford Roadster. It's exactly what you picture when you think of a hot rod, but distilled to its absolute essence. Other standouts included "Green Eyes," a two-tone green 1959 Chevy El Camino with a heavily metal-flaked bed, "Blue Monday," a 1964 Buick Riviera lowrider, and a personal favorite, "Purple Reign," a purple and black 1951 Mercury. Cars may have started out as tools, but there aren't shows like this filled with custom refrigerators.
Does Lincoln Zephyr trademark mean a return to real names?
Wed, May 25 2016Lincoln's long history includes many legendary names, and despite its short life, Zephyr retains a spot in that pantheon. Perhaps its will return once again: Ford Motor Co. applied to trademark Zephyr on May 11. Trademark filings can have ambiguous meanings, and often they're legal plays to get or keep the rights to a name. But in the last year, we've seen signs Lincoln is looking to use real names on its vehicles again. Obviously, it's keeping Navigator for its flagship sport-utility vehicle with a new model due next year. Reprising Continental for the MKS replacement was also well received. That said, Lincoln still uses the MKX and MKC "names" for its crossovers. Zephyr is a dustier moniker. It was used in the 1930s and '40s on a mid-level model spearheaded by Edsel Ford. The stylishly aerodynamic model was set between the Ford V8 De Luxe and more expensive Lincolns. It returned in 2006 as the Lincoln version of the Ford Fusion before that model was renamed MKZ. Mercury also used Zephyr on its version of the Ford Fairmont in the late 1970s and early '80s. Ford last held a trademark on the Zephyr name in 2013. The filing says Ford seeks to use Zephyr for "motor vehicles and parts and accessories therefor." That could mean a new car — or just parts. Putting the Zephyr badge back on the MKZ is the most likely bet. Meanwhile, Ford also moved to get the Thunderbird trademark on May 11 for the same vehicles and parts purpose, and it filed for the Mustang trademark for shampoo and lotions on May 4. A Lincoln spokesman said, "In the normal course of our business, we file trademarks for names," but had no further information. Related Video:
eBay Find of the Day: Mercury Marauder two-door convertible
Wed, 31 Aug 2011Never underestimate what you'll see on eBay Motors. Take this unique creation, for example. Near as we can tell, it's the same 2002 Mercury Marauder that was modified into a two-door convertible by Ford for the 2002 Chicago Auto Show. According to the seller, this car still boasts its Eaton supercharger bolted to a 4.6-liter V8 engine, and at the time of its debut, the engine was rated at a lofty 335 horsepower. We have a hard time believing that the extra ponies would do much to offset the weight of the additional frame stiffeners and top mechanism on the car, however.
The vehicle is currently offered for sale by a dealer in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, though the listing is mum on how the convertible managed to make its way from Ford's Windy City show stand into the seller's inventory. If you like what you see, the machine can be yours for the princely sum of $75,000 or best offer. Head over to eBay Motors to take a gander at the listing.
