Up for sale is a 1949 Mercury 4 door sedan. This car will be at the Syracuse nationals, and a prospective buyer can pick it up there or see it there if so desired. This Merc is powered by its original flat head, that runs great. it has a 3 speed non overdrive transmission. The paint is lacquer black with patina, it has been converted to 12 volt, every single electrical circuit in the vehicle has been replaced, the dash and garnish moldings repainted and the door handles removed. the car has electric poppers. We have put over 6,500 miles on this car since 2012.This car runs down the road excellent with plenty of torque from the flattie. The car has black vinyl pleated interior, needs headliner installed. New parts since summer 2013
- Wiring Harness from EZ wiring in scranton fully labeled - Brakes and hardware at all four corners -gas tank and fuel lines and fuel pumps (1 mechanical 1 electric) - 12 volt blower motor, heat works great -all glass, front and rear glass rubber - Posie super slider rear springs and all 4 shocks, KYB in rear - full true dual exhaust carefully routed for ground clearance, straight pipes 1 3/4 -full hidden audio system, speakers in stock location, factory radio still present -Dash fully repainted and restored gauges converted to twelve volt. -headlight switch from cal custom, gm style with dimmer. -turn signal switch rebuilt -comes with a new headliner. The work on this car since we have got it has is top notch and there are many more new parts than listed on this car, This Merc is ready to be driven, and needs little besides paint to be a showcar. Jill Wagner retired as Mercury spokeswoman
Wed, 17 Nov 2010Jill Wagner has officially given up her crown as the queen of Mercury. With the Ford middle child on its way to the scrap heap, Wagner no longer has any automotive hardware to promote. Given her varied talents, we wouldn't be surprised to see her pick up where she left off with another automaker.
And here you thought you'd never be upset about Mercury's passing.

NHTSA closes rollaway investigation into 1.56M Ford SUVs
Mon, 11 Mar 2013It's taken four years of study, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has finally closed the books on its investigation into rollaway accusations surrounding 1.56-million Ford SUV models.
The probe, which centered on the 2002-2005 Ford Explorer, 2002-2005 Mercury Mountaineer and 2003-2005 Lincoln Aviator, ends without the federal agency calling for a recall. According to The Detroit News, the investigation was closed due to a "low number of complaints" - NHTSA documented 180 such complaints that resulted in 14 crashes and six minor injuries, but the number of incidents have been slowing. The suspected defect rate for the trucks' automatic transmissions was found to be 4.4 per 100,000 units, and the brake-shift interlock mechanism failure rate was judged to be even lower at 3.4 per 100k.
NHTSA probing 2000-2003 Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable models over throttle issue
Mon, 29 Oct 2012A potential issue with the speed control cable collar has got the 2003-20003 Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable under the spotlight of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. If the collar breaks it can cause the throttle to be stuck open.
The issue is limited to vehicles with the 3.0-liter V6 Duratec. There are just 50 complaints so far out of 310,000 cars, but the NHTSA has begun an investigation into whether a recall should be issued.
