Selling a VERY RARE 1963 Mercury Monterey BREEZESWAY "S 55" Sport 2 door Coupe, I purchases the car from a storage business. Has a new battery that was used to start the car.... The 390 engine sounds very good and healthy, no wierd noises. GOOD I drove the 63 a very short distance it goes, stops and reverses.. no problem. I have a GOOD ARIZONA TITLE and has current AZ Plates that go with it. I believe the Mercury may have started it's life in California with the CA plates that were on it. According the the infomation found, there were a total of 3,850 Mercury Monterey S55 Coupes built in 63. How many are on the road and driving NOW ??? this runs and drive and stops and has a Pretty LOW Production number UNDER 640 !! This is a RARE Running project Mercury S55 with a GOOD Arizona title. As mention above the 63 does has minor rust, in most all panels.......It's doesn't look to bad, but does have minor rust ..that would need to be address. I looked at the floors from underneath and they look good solid no issues there. Ther interior looks pretty good, for being over 50 years old. the dash has been cut up etc.... the 63 doesn't have AC but that can be added . the front windshield is cracked, but all other glass is in good shape. This a running, driving, stopping Project Mercury S55, there pretty RARE and you hardly ever see any on the road or at car shows., there are VERY COOL MERCURY's. It could a SUPER STREET CRUISER. I'm selling the 63 as-is where-is condition. Please ask questions, will glady answer them. Will gladly help you secure transportation from me to you. For Buyers OUT-of- STATE and OUT -of- COUNTRY.

Report: Last Mercury for retail business built on Sunday
Mon, 04 Oct 2010Ford is already well into winding down its Mercury line, and the autoamker has announced that the very last of the soon-to-be dead brand's products built for retail sales was manufactured on Sunday, October 3. The final Mercury Mariner rolled off of the assembly line at the company's Kansas City facility, putting an end to a brand with over 70 years of history behind it.
Even after the Mariner heads off into the automotive sunset, Ford says that it will continue to manufacture a handful of Mercury models for fleet and government service for a while longer, though mum's the word on how long we can expect that practice to continue.
Interestingly enough, according to USA Today, most incentives on Mercury vehicles have all but dried up, even as the brand's August production increased by 120 percent compared to July's figures. Instead of cash on the hood, some areas are offering no-cost maintenance or similar programs. Even so, Mercury has continued to out-sell Lincoln right to the end - besting Ford's luxury arm's sales by nine percent in August.
Ford announces bevy of recalls, 2 of which are recalls on recalls
Tue, 04 Nov 2014
Ford has announced five separate recalls, affecting 202,000 vehicles built between 2005 and 2014.
It's not been a great couple of weeks for Ford. On October 30, the company announced a 205,000-unit recall, and yesterday, it was revealed that the Ford brand's year-over-year sales were down over 5,000 units while the company itself was down 3,000 units over through October. Now, the company has announced five separate recalls affecting 202,000 vehicles built between 2005 and 2014.
Question of the Day: Most degraded car name?
Fri, May 27 2016When Ford came up with a not-so-sporty version of the Pinto and slapped Mustang badges on it in 1974, that was a low point for the Mustang name. When Chrysler applied the venerable Town & Country name on perfectly functional but unglamorous minivans, it saddened many of us. But perhaps the biggest demotion for a once-proud model came when, in 1988, General Motors imported a misery-enhancing Daewoo from Korea and called it the Pontiac LeMans. The original Pontiac LeMans was a great-looking midsize car with fairly advanced (for the time) suspension design and engine options including potent V8s and a screaming overhead-cam straight-six. The Daewoo-based Pontiac LeMans was a cramped, shoddy hooptie that served only to ruin the LeMans name forever, while stealing sales from the Suzuki-based Chevrolet Sprint. Sure, using the once-respected Monterey name on the Mercurized Ford Freestar was bad, but Mercury didn't have long to live at that point. I say the downward spiral of the LeMans name was the most agonizing in automotive history. What do you think? Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party.
