CONTACT JEFF AT 570 977 0741.  Up for sale and your consideration is a 1962 Mercury Monterey Convertible with working power top that is a nice classic car that was recently discovered resting in a garage and brought back to life. It is mostly original and is in turn key and drive condition, and can be enjoyed immediately upon purchase. It is also priced realistically so that a real car person can afford it.  If you're looking for a restored car or a car that spent it's whole life in California this isn't it. It is your typical northeast car having had some rust issues here and there that have been addressed. The pictures provide an honest representation of the car. It is equipped with a 352 V8 & 3-speed automatic transmission. The engine was previously remanufactured. The rebuilders tag still resides on the right front of the engine block. According to the tag the engine was bored 40 thousands and rebuilt with standard size bearings. It is equipped with power steering and power brakes that both work great. The engine has received some chrome dress up, but stock air filter and stock valve covers are included with the car. The motor has been completely serviced including a fresh oil and filter change. Fresh spark plugs, new spark plug wires, new air filter, carburetor tuned and adjusted. Motor fires right up with just a touch of the key and runs well. Interior of the car is original with the exception of new carpets and arm rests.  Some of the bad areas on the front seat are seam separations that can be repaired. Headlights, tail lights, parking light, back up lights, dashboard lights, and turn signals are all in working order. Wipers, heater and horn also work. The AM radio does not work. Power top works fine and is usable as is but not new. Tonneau cover is nice but the convertible top well area needs some trim attention. Please keep in mind that this is an unrestored, original 52 year old car sold in AS-IS condition. This is not a show car and it is priced as such. The priced is based on the condition of the car and the rarity. It's an opportunity for a real car person to own a rare vehicle. Only 5489, 1962 Mercury Monterey Custom Convertibles were made. If any prospective buyer has any question as to the integrity of this car I welcome and encourage the opportunity to show the car in person by appointment.  I have in hand a clean Pennsylvania title for this car.  The mileage on the title is stated as exempt as many older vehicles were.  The speedometer shows 44,799 miles.  There is no sixth digit on the speedo. The title absolutely must, and will be processed properly into the buyers name by a licensed Pennsylvania notary official. If there is any questions on any of this info please don't hesitate to call and ask. I have over 50 photos of the car should a prospective buyer request additional photos. Again call and ask for them. I have accurately and honestly described this car to the best of my knowledge, based on a complete physical inspection and servicing of the vehicle.

Please check my 100% positive feedback and buy with confidence.  I am an honest ebayer looking to complete an honest sale here.  The preferred and encouraged method of payment would be funds in hand and a local pickup of the car. A $300.00 ebay required non-refundable deposit will have to be paid by the winning bidder using either the buy it now option or winning bidder at the end of the auction. Shipping will be the financial responsibility of the buyer. I will be happy to recommend previously used shippers.  I will also be happy to reasonably assist in the appointment setup, pickup and loading of the car. This car is sold in AS-IS condition with no actual or implied warranty.  Again the title will be processed properly and a bill of sale will also be provided to the buyer. Again to answer any questions that any prospective buyer may have on the car, I encourage and welcome the opportunity to show the car in person by appointment. My contact # is at the top and bottom of this ad to make it easy to reach me.  Lastly contact JEFF AT 570 977 0741. Thanks and good luck !

eBay Find of the Day: Mercury Marauder two-door convertible

Wed, 31 Aug 2011

Never underestimate what you'll see on eBay Motors. Take this unique creation, for example. Near as we can tell, it's the same 2002 Mercury Marauder that was modified into a two-door convertible by Ford for the 2002 Chicago Auto Show. According to the seller, this car still boasts its Eaton supercharger bolted to a 4.6-liter V8 engine, and at the time of its debut, the engine was rated at a lofty 335 horsepower. We have a hard time believing that the extra ponies would do much to offset the weight of the additional frame stiffeners and top mechanism on the car, however.
The vehicle is currently offered for sale by a dealer in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, though the listing is mum on how the convertible managed to make its way from Ford's Windy City show stand into the seller's inventory. If you like what you see, the machine can be yours for the princely sum of $75,000 or best offer. Head over to eBay Motors to take a gander at the listing.

Feds open investigation into Chevy Express, Ford Freestar rust issues

Wed, 28 Dec 2011

'Tis the season... for road salt. And with that, comes rust. And what does rust bring? Well, for Ford and General Motors, a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation. According to The Detroit News, NHTSA is looking into potential recalls issues with Chevrolet Express vans and Ford Freestar minivans.
The feds have received five complaints that rust has caused leaking fuel filler pipes on 2003 Express vans. Separately, seven complaints have been filed over excessive rust in the rear wheel wells of 2004 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans. The Freestar and Monterey went out of production in 2007. Neither issue has resulted in any crashes or injuries, according to the report.

Mustang, Camaro, Challenger gallop onto USPS pony car postage stamp set

Tue, Jul 19 2022

Some of America's most iconic cars are about to be immortalized on postage stamps. A new set by the U.S. Postal Service will celebrate the the golden era of pony cars, featuring five classic examples of Detroit iron. Each one is beautifully illustrated in oil-on-canvas style, with subjects in motion and sunlight glinting off the chrome, and would add a nice touch to any first-class letter. The pony car segment was all about (relatively) small, sporty alternatives to the full-size land yachts of the 1960s. They typically came equipped with 6-cylinder engines or small-block V8s. The category was named after the Ford Mustang, hence  the name. Some, though, argue that the Plymouth Barracuda, which was launched a couple of weeks before the Mustang, is the first. Luckily, the Falcon-based Mustang's distinct styling generated a sales sensation, or we might be calling them fish cars. Appropriately, one of the featured cars is a Mustang. But it's not just any Mustang. The 1969 Boss 302, seen here resplendent in Bright Yellow, was created for the hotly-contested SCCA Trans-Am racing series. One of its main rivals would have been the 1969 Chevy Camaro Z/28, also created specifically for the series, and is included in the set in Fathom Green. Representing Auburn Hills in the set is a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T in Plum Crazy, while Southfield's American Motors gets a nod with an AMC Javelin in Big Bad Orange. The Mustang's platform cousin, a 1967 Mercury Cougar XR-7, is portrayed in a gorgeous Burgundy Poly that almost looks incomplete without Neko Case on the hood. It's not the first time the USPS has honored America's rich car culture on its stamps. In 2013, it issues a series of muscle car stamps with the help of Richard Petty. That set featured a 1966 Pontiac GTO, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1970 Chevelle SS, 1970 Plymouth Hemi ’Cuda and, of course, a 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona. Another set in 2016 featured classic pickup trucks. Going further back, a 2008 release had chroed and finned automobiles of the 1950s and a 2005 release featured sporty American cars of the same era. The pony car stamps will debut on August 25 at the Great American Stamp Show in Sacramento, California in partnership with the American Philatelic Society. The public is free to attend the dedication ceremony, but you must RSVP first. After that, they will be available at local post offices and on line at the USPS store.
