You are bidding on a custom 1954 Mercury Monterey Sun Valley. The Sun Valley recieved its name from the unique plexiglass roof it came from the factory with. The car has a few other features to enhance its looks as well, like the turnpike cruiser fender skirts and the ultra cool continental kit. This beautiful car has a ton of hours put into it during the build. The builder took a rare classic car that is awesome in its own right, and added all modern amenitites. The car was customized using a Lincoln Mark VII.Everything from a Lincoln Mark VII was fitted to the Mercury Sun Valley, including the complete drivetrain which includes the fuel injected 5.0 HO engine, overdrive transmission, the rear along with the air ride suspension. The other upgrades converted from the Lincoln are ,air conditioning ,power steering and brakes, complete dash, console, controls, interior and electronics.Which consists of the digital dash and gauges, leather interior with electric seats, antenna, windows, door locks, pull down trunk lid, cruise control, right down to the electric security buttons on the door to program a security code for entry. This is a fully loaded car as all Lincolns came but was professionally fitted to the ultra rare Mercury Monterey Sun Valley. This was my late fathers car which he loved dearly, and now the family has decided to sell it to let someone else enjoy. The car is a driver ,everything works but it could use some freshening in some areas. Please if you have any questions or concerns ask before bidding and I will try to answer them.I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere as it drives great and the glass pack exhaust sounds awesome as well.So bid often and do not miss out on the chance to own this one of a kind car !!!!! Serious bidders can call 484-824-5517 with any questions.   P.S. The only things I know wrong with the car is a code came up on the radio and I didn't look thru the manual to try and reset it,has a crack in one of the wing windows, and as well the A/C usually needs charged every year when brought out of storage.

Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes

Thu, 10 May 2012

When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.

Has the Mercury Marauder gotten better with age?

Fri, Oct 23 2015

In the early 2000s Mercury desperately wanted to develop some edge for its brand – seemingly stuck between a quasi-premium, quasi-performance space in the Ford Universe. The Marauder is perhaps the most famous of the vehicles that resulted from those efforts, and is rapidly approaching Modern Classic status, today. Effectively a murdered out Grand Marquis with some updated trim pieces – what are company parts bins for, if not raiding? – the Marauder looked convincingly like a bad guy car. The 4.6-liter V8 under its hood that had been breathed on by engineers for a little more power, kicking out 302 horsepower and 318 pound-feet of torque from the factory. Not exactly Ferrari-baiting numbers, but it'd give your local cop's car a run for its money. Being a wild child of the last decade, of course our friends at MotorWeek had it on the program. What better way to test your mean-mugging muscle sedan than with John Davis' tanned and steady hands?

Ford recalls 600,000 older-model sedans for braking issue

Fri, Dec 20 2019

Ford is recalling 600,166 older-model Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles over an issue that could affect braking and increase the risk of a crash. The safety recall covers certain Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan and Lincoln MKZ sedans from the 2006 through 2010 model years that were built at Ford’s Hermosillo Assembly Plant in Mexico between Feb. 22, 2006, and July 15, 2009. Ford says a valve that is normally closed inside the hydraulic control unit may get stuck in the open position or be slow to close, which could make it harder to engage the brakes and increase risk of a crash. Ford says itÂ’s aware of 15 reports of accidents and two injuries possibly related to the issue. Dealers will inspect the hydraulic control unit for signs of the problem and replace it, if necessary. The dealers will pressure-flush the system with brake fluid and replace the reservoir cap with a new one. Ford is also issuing a small recall of 33 of its 2020 F-150 trucks in the U.S. and 51 in Canada over potentially damaged spare tires. It says the bead area on the tires may have been damaged when it was mounted onto the wheel assembly, leaving it vulnerable to corrosion, separation of the bead wire and ultimately a rapid loss of air pressure and detachment from the wheel. Dealers will replace the spare tire. Affected vehicles were built at the Dearborn Truck Plant from Nov. 10-21 of this year.
