2008 Mercury Grand Marquis Ls Sedan 4-door 4.6l on 2040-cars
Maricopa, Arizona, United States
Offered is my wife’s 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis LS which is smoke and pet free. Options on car: WSW Tires, FULL size spare tire on black steel wheel. Premium 6 CD/Satellite (Sat receiver not installed) Radio–with aftermarket iPod Adapter for YOUR iPod connected via SAT button on radio, California Emissions, wheel locks and locking gas/fuel cap. Many standard items on this car including dual 6 way seats with lower back support, power door and trunk lock, fog lights, adjustable brake/gas pedals, rear air spring suspension. Car was never involved in any accident. As with any 80,000 mile vehicle, there are some minor paint touch ups. I will include the touch up paint for your future use. The tires are about 70% worn which is reflected in the price. It didn’t pay to install new tires as the warranty would be voided to a new owner. Other than that, this is a turn key car meaning there are no known problems as everything works as designed. This car has NEVER been exposed to rock salt, snow or ice, therefore there is no rot. Interior and trunk lighting has been upgraded to white LEDs. This can revert back to factory style lighting easily. I did change the front seat armrests for ones with storage compartments. They were the wrong shade of gray, so I dyed them. The leftover dye will be included as it matched the interior color. Please note that the upgraded armrests made this car into a 5 passenger vehicle. If you do not like or want them, I am willing to reinstall the factory units that have no storage. There is an external transmission oil filter installed to make sure the transmission fluid is clean. I used Mobil 1 engine oil from day one. When I changed/flushed the transmission fluid, I used Mobil 1 synthetic transmission fluid. I kept this car under a severe usage maintenance schedule due to some dust in my area. Most likely that was not required but I wanted to be sure. The air filter was changed every 10,000 miles--far earlier than the usual 30,000 miles. I have included my maintenance records to show what and when service was done. If you have question about this car, ask me a question as I am hiding nothing. My wife is the second owner of this car. A business friend owned the car for just a few months as she was transferred to Europe and didn’t take the car. We learned about that after she returned the car to the Dealership. Since we liked the car, we purchased it right away with 3,875 miles on it in May 2008. I recommend to have a professional to inspect this car as I have nothing to hide. I usually do not allow unknown persons to test drive my cars as I do not know that person’s driving skills or intent. The only thing that should show up on any Internet check of this car is a case of vandalism–the tires were ice picked at a local mall in 2009. All of the tires were replaced and are filled with nitrogen. Interior windows were tinted and all door windows have vent covers on them--easy to remove if you don't like them. No personal items that are visible in photos are included. I can store car at my location for a few weeks if paid in full. For out of State or Country purchaser, arrangements can be made for your pick up at the SkyHarbor, Phoenix AZ Airport. You must have a PayPal account to bid on this vehicle. IF YOUR FEEDBACK RATING IS LESS THAN 10, YOU ARE REQUIRED TO CONTACT ME FIRST BEFORE BIDDING. OTHERWISE, I’LL REMOVE/CANCEL YOUR BID. I've been an eBay seller for over ten years with a 100% feedback rating. My 2007 Town Car was sold on eBay in December 2013 and is now in Germany. A 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis with posted maintenance records is hard to find. Please view all of the posted photos. I even took one while washing the car to show how the water beads up due to the waxing of this vehicle. This car was garaged kept and is in very good condition with a Kelly Blue Book value of $9,266 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis 2MEHM75V58X616633 April 17, 2014 Oil & Filter changes 05/14/08 Oil and Filter changed Mobil 1 5W20 6Qts. Car Stories: Owning the SHO station wagon that could've been
Fri, Oct 30 2015A little over a year ago, I bought what could be the most interesting car I will ever own. It was a 1987 Mercury Sable LS station wagon. Don't worry – there's much more to this story. I've always had a soft spot for wagons, and I still remember just how revolutionary the Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable were back in the mid-1980s. As a teenager, I fell especially hard for the 220-horsepower 1989 Ford Taurus SHO – so much so that I'd go on to own a dozen over the next 20 years. And like many other quirky enthusiasts, I always wondered what a SHO station wagon would be like. That changed last year when I bought the aforementioned Sable LS wagon, festooned with the high-revving DOHC 3.0-liter V6 engine and five-speed manual transmission from a 1989 Taurus SHO. In addition, the wagon had SHO front seats, a SHO center console, and the 140-mph instrument cluster with mileage that matched the engine. When I bought it, that number was just under 60,000 – barely broken in for the overachieving Yamaha-sourced mill. The engine and transmission weren't the only upgrades. It wore dual-piston PBR brakes with the choice Eibach/Tokico suspension combo in front. The rear featured SHO disc brakes with MOOG cargo coils and Tokico shocks, resulting in a wagon that handled ridiculously well while still retaining a decent level of comfort and five-door functionality. I could attack the local switchbacks while rowing gears to a 7,000-rpm soundtrack just as easily as loading up on lumber at the hardware store. Over time I added a front tower brace to stiffen things a bit as well as a bigger, 73-mm mass airflow sensor for better breathing, and I sourced some inexpensive 2004 Taurus 16-inch five-spoke wheels, refinished in gunmetal to match the two-tone white/gunmetal finish on the car. That, along with some minor paint and body work, had me winning trophies at every car show in town. And yet, what I loved most about the car wasn't its looks or performance, but rather its history. And here's where things also get a little philosophical, because I absolutely, positively love old used cars. Don't get me wrong – new cars are great. Designers can sculpt a timeless automotive shape, and engineers can construct systems and subsystems to create an exquisite chassis with superb handling and plenty of horsepower. But it's the age and mileage that turn machines into something more than the sum of their parts.
Junkyard Gem: 1991 Mercury Capri
Mon, Sep 19 2016Ford has gotten a lot of use out of the Capri name in the United States. First, there was the Lincoln Capri in the 1950s, followed by the Ford Capri Mk1 (which was sold by Mercury dealers in the USA but never actually badged as a Mercury). Then came the 1979-1986 Mercury Capri, built on the very successful Fox Platform and essentially a clone of the Mustang. Finally, in 1991, the Australian Ford Capri came to the United States. Here is an example of this rare car that I spotted in a Northern California self-service yard not long ago. Mechanically speaking, the 1991-1994 Capri was a Mazda 323 under the skin, complete with a member of the same B-series engine family that went into such cars as the Miata and Ford Escort. So, for a few years in the early 1990s, car shoppers who wanted a sporty Mazda convertible could choose between a Miata and a Capri. The Capri had front-wheel-drive, but could be had with factory turbocharging. These cars were reliable and fun, but had a tough time competing with the Miata in the showroom battles. You'll see the occasional example now and then, but most of the 1991-1994 Capris have met the same fate that awaits this one. Related Video:
Junkyard Gem: 1970 Mercury Cougar
Tue, Oct 10 2017The plot of the Mercury Cougar story took a lot of strange twists and turns during its 35 or so years, from ponycar to immense luxobarge to family sedan to station wagon to Integra competitor. Examples of the first Cougar generation are nearly extinct in American wrecking yards, so I was excited to spot this one in Denver. Lest you shed any tears over this car going to the crusher, know that it was suffering from the ravenous teeth of the Rust Monster long before it got here. The 1967-1970 Cougar was based on the Mustang platform of the same era, and so it was a sleeker and quicker cat than its successors. Still, the longer wheelbase, extra equipment and all the cool-looking bodywork added some heft; the 1970 Mustang hardtop with V8 scaled in at 2,923 pounds, while the 1970 Cougar weighed 3,307 pounds. The current Ford Focus would fit just between those two weights. There was also a mid-cycle refresh in that era, with the '67-'68 and '69-'70 having different exterior styling and interiors. The '69 and '70 had different front end styling as well, with the latter re-adopting the vertical grille slats featured on the earlier model years. The '69 has horizontal slats. The drivetrain and just about everything else of value has been shorn from this car, perhaps before it arrived in this yard. In 1970, a bewildering assortment of V8 engines was available in the Cougar, including a Boss 302, two completely different 351s, and a 335-horse Cobra Jet 428. The base engine was a 351 Windsor making 250 gross horsepower. Since car rooftops mostly don't rust, why would someone cut out this one? Sheet metal needed for patching a leaky shed roof, perhaps? This 2005-2006 Denver Nuggets window sticker indicates that the car was on the street (probably) as recently as 11 years ago. This content is hosted by a third party.
