2003 Mercury Grand Marquis Ls Sedan 4-door 4.6l on 2040-cars
Lima, Ohio, United States
Car is in great overall shape, it does have a crack on the front bumper and rear bumper, and the rf headlight/ fender is scratched. The rr quarter panel is also scratched. The interior is in great shape, this car is rare for its bucket seats and console shifter like the Maurader's have. This is not one though. Tires have 7/32nds of tread, they are Goodyear Assurance tripletred tires. This car also comes with 2 snow tires that have 6/32nds of tread. This car runs fantastic, strong engine, and has been well maintained. The oil is changed every 3,000 miles with Valvoline Maxlife, and has always seen a Motorcraft oil filter. The plugs were changed at 120,000 with Motorcraft, and it has a newer belt/tensioner/alternator and battery. The steering shaft was recently replaced due to bad u-joints. this car is not perfect, but I would rate it a 7 out of 10. Mainly because of cosmetic defects with the exterior. I am the second owner, the previous owner was an elderly couple who drove it back and forth to Florida every season. I purchased this car from a Lincoln/Mercury dealer a few years back as a certified Pre-owned. This car came equipped with the rear air springs which have been removed and replaced with regular coil springs. The air suspension is disabled, but the light on the dash remains. This vehicle is for pickup only. Buyer is responsible for shipping. $500 non-refundable deposit required within 48 hours of winning. Cash or money order to pay the balance in person upon pick-up. The reserve is well below KBB value. Thank you for looking!

Junkyard Gem: 1973 Mercury Montego MX Brougham Sawzall Convertible Edition
Fri, Apr 21 2017You know how it goes— the weather is warm, you want to do some top-down driving, and you lack a proper convertible... but you do have a hooptie Detroit car on one side of the garage and a big ol' Sawzall on the other. Put the two together and you have a Sawzall Convertible, which generally lasts for about one summer before it gets scrapped. Here's a fine example of such a car, photographed in a San Francisco Bay Area self-service junkyard. Most Sawzall Convertibles (yes, it should be called a roadster, but nobody does that) have raw, ragged metal edges, or maybe duct tape over the stumps of the amputated pillars, but someone went to the trouble to weld nice smooth metal covers over the hackage on this one. The windshield is gone. Instead, the windshield frame is ringed by tongue depressors held in place by gooey roofing tar. No, we don't know why. The Montego MX Brougham was a hot-selling personal luxury coupe in its day, selling for $3,041 in 1973. That's just under $17,000 in 2017 dollars. It must have been fun, cruising this thing on Bay Area streets with no roof and a rattle-can spray-bomb job. This one has the optional 400-cubic-inch V8 engine, rated at 171 horsepower. What would this car's original buyer have thought of its fate? This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. NHTSA investigating 725k Ford, Mercury vehicles for stalling issue
Mon, 25 Feb 2013Owners of Ford Escape, Mercury Mariner, Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan models, listen up. According to a report on Automotive News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened an investigation into these four vehicles totaling an estimated 725,000 units. The investigation appears to center around a malfunctioning throttle body on non-hybrid models of the 2005-2012 Escape and 2011-2012 Fusion. With Mercury dying off after the 2011 model year, this probe will also apply to the 2005 through 2011 Mariner and the 2011 Milan. There has been some discussion around the Escape stalling issue for some time now, but this investigation appears to be larger in scope than before.
Though not a recall yet, NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 123 complaints of stalling or surging vehicles, while Ford itself has logged 1,472 complaints. The investigation report, which is posted below, seems to indicate that a faulty circuit board for the throttle body could cause the vehicle to go into limp mode, which, according to NHTSA, could cause complaints of both stalling and surging.
NHTSA investigating Ford's solution to May 2014 power steering recall
Tue, Apr 7 2015The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating a complaint that Ford's response to a May 2014 recall of the 2008 to 2011 Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner doesn't quite go far enough to solve a troubling power-steering problem. Roughly a year ago, Ford recalled nearly a million vehicles after it was found that a problem with the torque sensor's communication with the power steering control module could cut steering assistance for drivers. While manual steering would still be available, the problem was enough to ask drivers to report in to have the PSCM inspected, and if necessary, replaced (along with the torque sensor, or in dramatic cases, the entire steering column). That would only happen, though, if trouble codes were being thrown. If there weren't any problems, dealers were told to simply update the PSCM's software so that any issues between it and the torque sensor would simply throw a visual and audio warning – power steering would still be maintained. The petitioner claimed that following the recall work, he still experienced a problem with the torque sensor. According to NHTSA, a claim was made that Ford didn't go far enough in its solution to the problem, and that "the software update itself may in fact cause further issues with the affected vehicle's power steering, causing it to fail, and ultimately requiring replacement of the torque sensor or entire steering column." The petition was filed in early February and is now officially being looked into by NHTSA.
