You know how everyone says "You won't find a nicer Marquis for this year!" ? well, this one comes very close!

It's not perfect, but it's an original survivor! This car came to me in the spring of this year, and I am the second owner of this 16 year old classic!

It was owned and driven by a little old lady until I purchased it in April when it had only 29,*** miles!

It sounds like a typical story, but it's so true...I have the Carfax to prove it!

Because it was a "little old lady car", most of it's life was spent sitting in a garage, resulting in little to no fading of the carpet or headlight covers...

...and even the paint shines almost as if new!

Here's what I did immediately after bringing her home...It was inspected, oil n filter, and the serpentine belt was changed.

No reason for the belt to be changed other than the fact that it was the original belt and I didn't want to go on a long drive and be stranded.

Then shortly after that, I brought it in for a computer scan because a light came on in the dash...it showed the ERG sensor was bad. Since the car sat for long periods of time in between driving, and also since it was driven by an older person, it probably didn't get to go long distances, and the injectors were getting clogged. The injectors were cleaned and a new sensor put in, and while it was there, I had them replace the high beams with Sylvania Ultra Bright headlights...and they are a whiter light than the normal lights that were in there.

Now that I got all the "bugs" out, I am going to let it go to someone who can pamper it and enjoy it for many years to come...besides, my Mustang is on the way soon!!! :)

Seriously, it is!!!

OK, here we go...The interior is near mint, no rips or tears, good carpet, (all floormats too!), as expected from a car with such low milage.

It has power windows and mirrors, drivers seat is power, passenger manual.

Cruise, tilt, intermittent wipers, A/C is as cold as they come, windows roll up and down without hesitation, all seatbelts are intact and working...I'm telling you, the car is like new!

(The cassette deck doesn't play...I haven't figured out why, but it didn't matter since I don't have cassettes anyway!)

The AM-FM works fine and so does the digital clock. As for the Park Lane trim package...dealers back in those days, sold mostly LS models first and the GS models usually had to be given more of an incentive to entice the buyer...so they put special packages on them. This one got the limo treatment with side coach lights, a canvass top, known as the carriage roof, and leather interior...something the normal GS model didn't have...it wasn't an option as far as I understand.

As for the car mechanically, it is sound and can be driven anywhere at any time. It gets good gas milage too, averaging between 17 city and 25 on the highway, depending on your driving habits and road conditions. The battery is new, and the brakes, tires and exhaust are good.

It also comes with the original window sticker!

It has the classic huge trunk, clean, space saver spare and original jack.

As for the body, there are normal parking lot dings and there is a spot under the front bumper with yellow paint scratched in that obviously says the lady hit a high curb or sidewalk with it.

There is one minor flaw in the right rear wheel well, some surface rust starting where dirt gets stuck in...a manufacturing design flaw...but the remedy to that is keep the car clean and it won't continue to rust! :)

I have been honest about everything about the car, but if I left any question unanswered, please feel free to ask...but please do it before the auction ends.

I have the car listed on C***slist and it's also out in front with a for sale sign on it, so if I am offerred the price I am looking for, I will reserve my right to end the auction early.

I can't force you to buy this car, but if it's a '97 Marquis you're looking for, don't hesitate to buy this one!

PLEASE NOTE...if you need it shipped, you have to work that out yourself, I am not a dealer, therefore I do not have connections.

God bless

Mustang, Camaro, Challenger gallop onto USPS pony car postage stamp set

Tue, Jul 19 2022

Some of America's most iconic cars are about to be immortalized on postage stamps. A new set by the U.S. Postal Service will celebrate the the golden era of pony cars, featuring five classic examples of Detroit iron. Each one is beautifully illustrated in oil-on-canvas style, with subjects in motion and sunlight glinting off the chrome, and would add a nice touch to any first-class letter. The pony car segment was all about (relatively) small, sporty alternatives to the full-size land yachts of the 1960s. They typically came equipped with 6-cylinder engines or small-block V8s. The category was named after the Ford Mustang, henceĀ  the name. Some, though, argue that the Plymouth Barracuda, which was launched a couple of weeks before the Mustang, is the first. Luckily, the Falcon-based Mustang's distinct styling generated a sales sensation, or we might be calling them fish cars. Appropriately, one of the featured cars is a Mustang. But it's not just any Mustang. The 1969 Boss 302, seen here resplendent in Bright Yellow, was created for the hotly-contested SCCA Trans-Am racing series. One of its main rivals would have been the 1969 Chevy Camaro Z/28, also created specifically for the series, and is included in the set in Fathom Green. Representing Auburn Hills in the set is a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T in Plum Crazy, while Southfield's American Motors gets a nod with an AMC Javelin in Big Bad Orange. The Mustang's platform cousin, a 1967 Mercury Cougar XR-7, is portrayed in a gorgeous Burgundy Poly that almost looks incomplete without Neko Case on the hood. It's not the first time the USPS has honored America's rich car culture on its stamps. In 2013, it issues a series of muscle car stamps with the help of Richard Petty. That set featured a 1966 Pontiac GTO, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1970 Chevelle SS, 1970 Plymouth Hemi ’Cuda and, of course, a 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona. Another set in 2016 featured classic pickup trucks. Going further back, a 2008 release had chroed and finned automobiles of the 1950sĀ and a 2005 release featured sporty American cars of the same era. The pony car stamps will debut on August 25 at the Great American Stamp Show in Sacramento, California in partnership with theĀ American Philatelic Society. The public is free to attend the dedication ceremony, but you must RSVP first. After that, they will be available at local post offices and on line at the USPS store.

New Forza 6 car pack will let you race the Pontiac Aztek

Fri, Jan 29 2016

Just in time for this weekend's Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, the new Alpinestars Car Pack for Forza Motorsport 6 on the Xbox One lets you slip into the driver's seat of last year's winner. If you want to take something much weirder for a spin, the collection also includes a 2005 Pontiac Aztek. The download is available now for $6.99. The Ford #02 Chip Ganassi Racing Riley Mk XXVI Daytona was in a four-car battle early in last year's race, but it eventually was victorious. Forza Motorsport 6 also challenges drivers who download the car to a new Rivals event around Daytona, and the fastest people could win Alpinestars prizes. If you're nostalgic for a classic Daytona racecar, this pack includes Mercury #15 Whistler Radar Cougar XR-7. The V8-powered beast won the IMSA GTO class in the 24-hour event in 1990. It should be fun around the game's longer road courses like Road Atlanta. This collection also has an eclectic mix of vehicles that aren't racecars. The controversial Aztek and the equally-controversial 1996 Subaru SVX take their places beside a lineup that offers drivers three eras of performance cars – a 1967 Sunbeam Tiger, 1974 Toyota Corolla SR5, and 1992 Alfa Romeo Milano Quadrifoglio Verde. The video below shows all of them in action. Race to the Finish Line with the Alpinestars Car Pack for Forza Motorsport 6 By Xbox Wire Staff posted on January 27, 2016 at 8:00 am With the racing season set to kick into full gear during this weekend's Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona race, Forza fans now have a chance to get their own taste of endurance racing glory with the Alpinestars Car Pack for Forza Motorsport 6, available on Thursday, Jan. 28. Leading off the pack of seven cars is last year's 24 Hours of Daytona winner, the 2015 Ford #02 Chip Ganassi Racing Riley Mk XXVI Daytona Prototype. The prototype will be fielded in this weekend's race, which begins at 2 p.m. EST on Saturday, Jan. 30 and can be viewed live on Fox Sports 1 in the U.S. The Alpinestars Car Pack features six additional cars, each with a unique pedigree all its own. From the 1990 Mercury #15 Whistler Radar Cougar XR-7 Ā– also a competitor in Daytona 24 Hour events of years past Ā– to the inimitable 2005 Pontiac Aztek (famous more for its fictional owner than its performance), this pack has something for every kind of car fan. Forza Motorsport 6 is the only game where players can drive last year's Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona winner on the recently remodeled Daytona International Speedway.

NHTSA investigating 500k Ford and Mercury cars for lighting failures

Mon, Apr 6 2015

The Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis might be long gone as new models in showrooms, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration might check them out yet again for a potential problem. At the urging of North Carolina Consumers Council, the agency may open another investigation into the front lighting control module on vehicles from the 2003-2005 model years, and NHTSA estimates the issue could affect 517,945 vehicles. If the module stops working, it can cause a complete failure of all forward lighting, including the headlights. NHTSA previously investigated the issue in 2008 and 2009 but found no need for a recall, according to Bloomberg. Ford also extended the warranty on the part to 15 years or 250,000 miles. To prompt this new request, the North Carolina Consumers Council received a letter from a woman experiencing the module's failure. Upon further investigation, the council found 604 complaints of this problem on NHTSA's website, including seven crashes. Furthermore, the group has alleged that dealers told customers that the parts to perform the replacement weren't available, despite the extended warranty. According to the government agency, "A defect petition has been opened to evaluate the issue and make a grant or deny decision." Ford spokesperson Kelli Felker tells Autoblog via email, "We will cooperate with NHTSA, as we always do." You can read the council's complete letter to the Feds in PDF format, here. INVESTIGATION Subject : Loss of headlamp/exterior lighting Date Investigation Opened: APR 01, 2015 Date Investigation Closed: Open NHTSA Action Number: DP15002 Component(s): EXTERIOR LIGHTING All Products Associated with this Investigation Vehicle Make Model Model Year(s) FORD CROWN VICTORIA 2003-2005 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS 2003-2005 Details Manufacturer: Ford Motor Company SUMMARY: The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received a petition from the North Carolina Consumers Council, Inc. requesting a defect investigation of an alleged defect condition resulting in headlight and/or exterior lighting failure on 2003-2005 Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis vehicles. The petition letter is attached for review. The petitioner alleges a defect in the lighting control module that powers the headlights which can result in the loss of vehicle headlights and/or all exterior lighting while driving. ODI has previously investigated this issue under PE08-066 which was closed without a defect finding.
