Up for sale is a 1995 Mercury Grand Marquis LS with only 64,180 original miles. This is a garage kept, 1 owner vehicle that is in excellent condition. I say excellent because the vehicle does not need any mechanical reconditioning and the body and interior are immaculate. The body is straight with no previous repairs or even dents. There are two paint chips I found on the front passenger wheel well (see pic), but other than that this car is very clean. The interior has no rips or burn holes. The air conditioning works well and so does everything else in the vehicle with a few minor exceptions. One item I noticed that doesn't work is the push button off on the radio. The radio stays on but the volume can be turned all the way down if no sound is desired. Also, the hood struts do not keep the hood closed but these can be replaced inexpensively. Finally, the front passenger window doesn't go down. I'm not sure if it's a switch, motor, or something else.

The tires are all matching Michelin tires with plenty of tread wear left. I have pictures but didn't include them here because I can only put 24 pics.

All in all this is an elegant automobile with it's classy lines and cloth top roof (which is in tip top condition). And it's basically like buying a new car for a whole lot less since this car is ready to be driven for a whole lot of miles. Most of you know that these are the same as the Ford Crown Victorias and were the first choice by police and taxis when they were being produced. This is because they are full frame vehicles which means they are very sturdy and will last for hundreds of thousands of miles with proper maintenance (trust me..I ask every NYC cab driver how many miles they have on their cars and I'm shocked to constantly hear numbers above 300,000 miles). Also, they have plenty of room, power, and are cheap to maintain due to parts being widely available and from domestic producers (cheaper).

Ford recalls Five Hundred, Mercury Montego sedans over fuel tank woes

Ford has announced through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it is recalling nearly 3,000 examples of its Five Hundred and Mercury Montego (pictured) sedans from the 2007 model year.
The action, which affects 2,945 vehicles, is due to potentially defective welds between the filler neck and the fuel tank, a condition that could result in a fuel leak or the smell of gasoline reaching the occupants. In the worst-case scenario, a leak could cause a fire. Cars with the affected fuel tank problem could see an illuminated dashboard warning light as a result of the evaporative emissions leak being detected.
Ford will inspect and replace the fuel tank at no cost to owners (those who have already had the procedure done at-cost can apply for reimbursement), and the Dearborn automaker will begin notifying Five Hundred and Montego owners beginning August 15. Has the Mercury Marauder gotten better with age?

In the early 2000s Mercury desperately wanted to develop some edge for its brand – seemingly stuck between a quasi-premium, quasi-performance space in the Ford Universe. The Marauder is perhaps the most famous of the vehicles that resulted from those efforts, and is rapidly approaching Modern Classic status, today. Effectively a murdered out Grand Marquis with some updated trim pieces Â– what are company parts bins for, if not raiding? Â– the Marauder looked convincingly like a bad guy car. The 4.6-liter V8 under its hood that had been breathed on by engineers for a little more power, kicking out 302 horsepower and 318 pound-feet of torque from the factory. Not exactly Ferrari-baiting numbers, but it'd give your local cop's car a run for its money. Being a wild child of the last decade, of course our friends at MotorWeek had it on the program. What better way to test your mean-mugging muscle sedan than with John Davis' tanned and steady hands?

When Ford came up with a not-so-sporty version of the Pinto and slapped Mustang badges on it in 1974, that was a low point for the Mustang name. When Chrysler applied the venerable Town & Country name on perfectly functional but unglamorous minivans, it saddened many of us. But perhaps the biggest demotion for a once-proud model came when, in 1988, General Motors imported a misery-enhancing Daewoo from Korea and called it the Pontiac LeMans. The original Pontiac LeMans was a great-looking midsize car with fairly advanced (for the time) suspension design and engine options including potent V8s and a screaming overhead-cam straight-six. The Daewoo-based Pontiac LeMans was a cramped, shoddy hooptie that served only to ruin the LeMans name forever, while stealing sales from the Suzuki-based Chevrolet Sprint. Sure, using the once-respected Monterey name on the Mercurized Ford Freestar was bad, but Mercury didn't have long to live at that point.
