Mercury 95/49 Kitcar / Hot Rod / Rat Rod on 2040-cars
Hendersonville, Tennessee, United States
This unique vehicle started as a 95' Mercury Cougar. It has an Easyrod 49'Ford conversion. It's a love-it or hate-it thing.
I lost interested in this project. Wife says car has to go. It doesn't need much to get finished. Mainly cosmetically issues and TLC. The hasn't been driven a lot in the last years. But it starts right up. No engine or tranny leaks. For longer trips I would recommend to go completely thru the car. - New lowered springs and new shocks. - Cadillac tail lights - ca. 6 layers of Rustoleum Flat Black, needs clear coat or buffing, or leave as is - 81900 miles - Hillborn style hood scoop, in the moment only decorative. Was planning on routing a cold air intake thru the scoop. Air filters etc. come with it. - Dual Flowmaster exhaust. Nice grumbling sound, but not too aggressive - Frenched license plat - All power functions working - Tires are in good condition - Coker whitewall tires on Chrome wheels with some surface rust - Peep mirors - DVD stereo - No heater (core is leaking) and A/C (compressor o.k., solenoid bad) - New alternator last year - No horn - Battery might need to be replaced - No rust but some cracks in the fiberglass - Head liner crinkled - VinCheck-Report available,no problems reported The car is located in Hendersonville, TN. Currently no registration. I strongly recommend to see the car in person before bidding. I reserve the right to cancel the auction at any time if car gets sold locally. Any question, let me know. |

NHTSA and Ford investigating steering issues in Crown Vic, Grand Marquis and Marauder
Fri, 11 Jul 2014There may be more steering woes for the Ford Crown Victoria. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened a preliminary evaluation into the Crown Vic and Mercury Grand Marquis from the 2004 to 2007 model years and the Mercury Marauder for the 2004 and 2005 model years because the steering shaft can jam. The issue could potentially affect an estimated 500,000 vehicles.
According to the regulator, there is a possibility that the driver's side heat shield for the exhaust manifold can rust, dislodge, and then wedge into the steering shaft. If this occurs, it leads to a situation where the driver can no longer control the car.
NHTSA has received five complaints of this happening, including one alleged case with an injury. In that situation, the car was driving onto the highway, lost control and rolled over. One occupant was hurt in the accident.
Ford recalls 1.9m cars and crossovers for defective airbags
Wed, Jun 1 2016The Basics: Ford is recalling a total of 1,898,728 vehicles to replace defective Takata front passenger-side airbags. This includes the 2007-2010 Ford Edge, 2006-2011 Ford Fusion, 2005-2011 Ford Mustang, 2007-2011 Ford Ranger, 2007-2010 Lincoln MKX and 2006-2011 Lincoln MKZ, Zephyr and Mercury Milan vehicles built in North America. The Problem: The defective airbags have been linked to ruptures that can send metal fragments at the passenger, due to deteriorating propellant. Injuries/Deaths: Ford claims it's not aware of any injuries due to the problem, but rupturing Takata airbags have been linked to a series of serious injuries and deaths. The Fix: Dealers will replace the passenger-side frontal airbag at no charge to the customer. If you own one: Look out for a letter from the manufacturer to arrange service at your local dealer. If you'd like to check if your vehicle is affected, click on the safety recalls link on Ford.com and enter your VIN. Related Video:
Ford recalling 370,000 Crown Vic, Grand Marquis and Town Car models
Fri, 30 Aug 2013The Detroit News is reporting that Ford will recall some 370,000 Crown Victoria (pictured), Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Car vehicles from model years 2005 through 2011, for an issue regarding the lower intermediate steering shaft. 355,000 of the vehicles in question were sold in the US, with the other 15,000 sold in Canada.
The report indicates that corrosion of the lower intermediate steering shaft could cause a "loss of steering," presumably because of a partial or complete failure of the part. The report points out the dealers will inspect and replace the offending steering component for recalled cars, and may also secure a lower steering column bearing and replace the upper intermediate steering shaft as needed. The company is unaware of any reports of the faulty part causing any accidents or injuries.
Ford helpfully lists states in which corrosion is more likely to have taken place, mostly in the Snow Belt, as you might guess. Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia are listed.
