1995 Mercury Cougar Xr-7 Sedan 2-door 3.8l- Runs Great! on 2040-cars
Oviedo, Florida, United States
For sale is a 1995 Mercury Cougar automobile, beige/ champagne color,
nice paint, 6 cylinder engine, 2 doors, everything is solid
mechanically, and a VERY smooth and comfortable ride, with working ICE
COLD AIR conditioning! The odometer shows 90,000 miles on it, but
noticed it just stopped working a few months back (could maybe be a
loose cable or fuse?), so add a few thousand miles to it, I can verify
the approximate mileage with the title and recent registration papers
(the speedometer and gauges DO work). This car has many nice features like power windows,
power door locks, power seats, cruise control, tilt wheel, rear window
defroster, a/c, and very nice bucket seats (no smoking). Seats are in
excellent condition, only 1 spot on the driver's seat 3" long tear/ wear
mark that is a common wear area from rubbing as you go in and out of
the vehicle... and non smoking owner so interior is in excellent shape
and very clean. The car has had regular maintenance, i.e. oil changes
and lube jobs, tune up/ spark plugs, and many new parts/ service within
the last year including: brand new front wheel bearings, rotors and
brakes!, a few new brake lines, new tensioner/ pulley on front of
engine, and a few steering/ stabilizer bars (so the steering is nice and
tight.... and straight!). So basically the entire front end and brakes
are like brand new, about $1,500-$2,000 alone to do all that in a shop.
Stereo is working fine as well.
The car does have some rust on the underside, and at the bottoms of the doors, the passenger side being the most significant. You can repair it with bondo/ fiberglass and it would be fine, but it never bothered me that much and if you can live with (or fix) a little rust, you get a great vehicle for the price. The only other issue is that it needs a power steering line repaired, which recently broke. Hence, the price has been discounted for these things. This vehicle and should provide years of dependable service and make a very nice car. Similar vehicles selling for $3,500+ on CL and Ebay. This is a great car for a great price, very nice ride and comfortable. I'm in Oviedo (East Orlando) area 32766, buyers are welcome to come inspect before auction ends, just send a message with any questions. Cash upon pickup please. |

Ford Announces Free Brake-Pad Offer If Customers Stop By Dealers
Mon, Aug 4 2014These days, when you buy a new car, it's not unreasonable to expect a certain period of free maintenance to come along as well. Sometimes this is through the life of the warranty, in other cases a little less. But Ford Motor Company is going beyond those deals for at least one part of its cars. As of now, if you buy a set of Motorcraft brake pads for a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury model, you get free replacements for as long as you own the vehicle. The offer is good at Ford or Lincoln dealers and Quick Lane Tire & Auto Centers. "We will replace the pads for as long as you own the vehicle," said Elizabeth Weigandt to Autoblog. She did clarify that the Motorcraft pads are generally for models from the '90s or newer. Also, to take advantage of this program, a person must return to the same dealer each time to get the free parts. Of course, Ford isn't just handing out brake pads to anyone who walks by; there are certain stipulations. First, the components have to be worn down to less than three millimeters to be eligible, and the buyer still has to pay for the labor to install them. If the model is used as a fleet vehicle for commercial purposes like as a taxi or limousine, this offer also doesn't apply; the same thing for racecars. On the plus side, if you recently bought a set of pads from one of the participating locations, you're still in luck. The deal covers parts purchased as of July 1. "This program reflects our commitment to providing customers with an excellent ownership experience regardless of the age of their vehicle," said Frederiek Toney, President of Ford Customer Service, in the company's announcement of the offer. 2023 Grand National Roadster Show Mega Photo Gallery | Hot rod heaven
Wed, Feb 8 2023POMONA, Calif. — From an outsider's perspective, it would be easy to assume that the Grand National Roadster Show has always been a Southern California institution. After all, it celebrates the diverse postwar car culture of the region — hot rods, lead sleds, lowriders, and more. However, the show had its roots in NorCal in 1950 when Al Slonaker and his hot rod club showed their custom cars at the Oakland Expo. The GNRS moved to Pomona, California, in 2004. By then it had grown exponentially and seen about a dozen more car customization trends come and go. However, the show and its centerpiece award, the America's Most Beautiful Roadster prize, celebrate what is perhaps the first of those trends: the American hot rod in its purest form. Today, in its 73rd year, the GNRS is the oldest indoor car show in America. Annually it welcomes 500-800 cars, gathered into special themes like Tri-Five Chevys or Volkswagen Bugs. At this year's show, which was last weekend, a special hall was dedicated to pickup trucks built between 1948-98, including mini-trucks, groovy camper bed conversions, and resto-mods. However, of all the vehicles presented, only nine are eligible for the America's Most Beautiful Roadster award. Winners get their names engraved on a 9-foot-tall perpetual trophy that was, according to The Ultimate Hot Rod Dictionary, the largest in the world when it debuted in 1950. Slonaker chose the word "roadster" initially because "hot rod" bore slightly negative outlaw connotations in 1950. Only American cars built before 1937 of certain body styles — roadsters, roadster pickups, phaetons, touring cars — are eligible, and they cannot have roll-down side windows. Cars in the running for the cup cannot have been shown anywhere else before their debut at the GNRS. Contestants for this accolade essentially build their cars to the a platonic ideal of a hot rod. This year the honors went to Jack Chisenhall of San Antonio, Texas, for his "Champ Deuce," a 1932 Ford Roadster. It's exactly what you picture when you think of a hot rod, but distilled to its absolute essence. Other standouts included "Green Eyes," a two-tone green 1959 Chevy El Camino with a heavily metal-flaked bed, "Blue Monday," a 1964 Buick Riviera lowrider, and a personal favorite, "Purple Reign," a purple and black 1951 Mercury. Cars may have started out as tools, but there aren't shows like this filled with custom refrigerators.
Ford recalling 126,000 Fusions and Milans over wheel separation concern
Fri, 09 Dec 2011Ford has announced a recall of certain Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan vehicles after an investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. A total of 128,616 2010 and 2011 models equipped with steel wheels may have been manufactured with wheel studs that could crack and split over time. If that happens, the vehicle may experience a wheel separation.
According to The Detroit News, the company is aware of a total of 30 wheel separation incidents, one of which occurred on the front of the vehicle. Even so, no injuries have been reported as a result of the defect.
The problem apparently stems from the fact that the mounting pads on the vehicles' steel wheels may have been faulty from the factory. In addition, the wheel mounting face on rear disc brakes may not have been installed properly. Ford will inspect the rear disc face and replace them as necessary. In addition, the company will replace all of the vehicle's wheel studs free of charge. Head to the NHTSA website for more information, and click past the jump to view the full recall notice.
