Here is your chance to own a very cool classic Mercury Comet sedan. Yes I would say this car is very rare to be in this condition and still on the streets today. This is a 2 owner car that is 100% rust free straight original car thats all metal no bondo. It was owned by a older woman who has it for more than 40 years. Its beautiful white paint is all New and Glossy and most of all the body is rust free and very straight. The interior is impeccable as well. It was completely done exactly to original specs. The seats, carpet ,headliner are all new. The undercarriage of this car is also very solid and it has a new exhaust system on it, The trunk is very solid as well . I removed the trunk mat and am waiting for the new one to come in and I will install it and clean up the trunk to look like new. The engine is the Original V6 with only 31667 miles. It looks new and is bone dry . No leaks start right up and goes down the road very well. It came with 85 hp so the car is a cruiser and it has a 3 speed manuel clutch that shifts perfect. We just installed new brakes, new tires, bumpers were re chromed and look like new as well as the rest of the chrome on the car.. Inside the car you will find Air condition which is rare to the car and it works perfect. Even the original radio still works . This is definitely a Cruiser. The color combo is beautiful with white exterior and an interior that is breathtaking. This car will appreciate in value since there cant be that many left on the road. I take pride in finding great classic cars and presenting them in Excellent condition. This car is Show or go and will be loved by its new owner. Please call me if you have any question and please read my feedback as you will see I take pride in making everyone happy and being very honest in what I am selling. Enjoy the auction and Good luck. Fitting Retirement: Grand Marquis last Mercury off the line
Wed, 05 Jan 2011The signs have come down and retail production ended back in October of 2010. Now, the very last Mercury model has rolled off the assembly line. This last Mercury somewhat fittingly takes the form of a Grand Marquis reporting for fleet duty. It was built at the St. Thomas plant in Ontario, Canada, which is the same facility that continues to produce the Ford Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car for fleet and livery duty.
St. Thomas' days are numbered, however, as the factory is slated to close on August 31. When it goes, the Panther platform is likely to follow. So long, and thanks for all the fish memories.

Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes
Thu, 10 May 2012When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.
NHTSA investigating Ford's solution to May 2014 power steering recall
Tue, Apr 7 2015The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating a complaint that Ford's response to a May 2014 recall of the 2008 to 2011 Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner doesn't quite go far enough to solve a troubling power-steering problem. Roughly a year ago, Ford recalled nearly a million vehicles after it was found that a problem with the torque sensor's communication with the power steering control module could cut steering assistance for drivers. While manual steering would still be available, the problem was enough to ask drivers to report in to have the PSCM inspected, and if necessary, replaced (along with the torque sensor, or in dramatic cases, the entire steering column). That would only happen, though, if trouble codes were being thrown. If there weren't any problems, dealers were told to simply update the PSCM's software so that any issues between it and the torque sensor would simply throw a visual and audio warning – power steering would still be maintained. The petitioner claimed that following the recall work, he still experienced a problem with the torque sensor. According to NHTSA, a claim was made that Ford didn't go far enough in its solution to the problem, and that "the software update itself may in fact cause further issues with the affected vehicle's power steering, causing it to fail, and ultimately requiring replacement of the torque sensor or entire steering column." The petition was filed in early February and is now officially being looked into by NHTSA.
