THIS IS A NO RESERVE LISTING.
This is my 1986 Classic Motor Carriages (CMC) Gazelle, a replica of the 1929 Mercedes SSK roadster. This car has only 3810 original miles since new.
Gazelle Mercedes replicas were built by Classic Motor Carriages in Miami, Florida. They used several chassis/drivetrain options, and this one, the Mustang chassis with the Mustang 2.8L V6, automatic transmission and air conditioning, was the best quality, most powerful and most highly optioned of their vehicles. You could order a Gazelle with a Volkswagen Beetle motor, a Ford or Chevy 4-cylinder, or this one, the 2.8L V6. This is the best of all the Gazelle cars, with the most power, best sounding engine, best performance and easy parts availability.
This car is equipped with air conditioning, but it doesn't currently work. I'm sure it could be made to work if someone wanted, but as a convertible fun car, who really needs it? This car also has a heater, which not all of them did.
This car has a folding convertible top in good condition.
The exterior and paint and body of this Gazelle Mercedes are good. The car is straight and clean with no major defects. The undercarriage is superbly clean and solid. After all, this car has always been garaged and never winter-driven, nor even driven in the rain.
The interior is in good shape. The seats are very presentable, with some tape over a few split seams and some minor interior wear typical of the age of the car, but it looks good overall. The previous owner covered up the small rear seat with an enclosure that could be removed if you wanted access to the rear seats again.
The hood has been painted with an expensive Ford "flop" color that looks green from one angle, purple from another. It looks really neat on the car.
This car starts, runs and drives well. The Ford 2.8L V6 is powerful and sounds great. The carburetor is brand new. The automatic transmission shifts well and the brakes, steering and handling are good.
This is a replica kit car of a 1929 vehicle, so please don't expect 2014 Mercedes build quality or stability. You won't be taking the highway at 140 mph or taking this car on long cross-country road trips. It is totally reliable and dependable, it just doesn't have the creature comforts of a modern new car and it has certain rattles, etc. This would make a great fun car, weekend car or a car to take to local cruise-ins. This car gets TONS of attention. You can't drive a quarter mile without someone waving or asking questions about it. Everybody loves this car!
Many folks replace the Gazelle logos and hood ornaments with Mercedes logos, which has not been done to this car. You could certainly buy those logos and put them on the car easily- it would certainly keep people guessing!
This car has a clean and clear OH title ready to transfer. It is titled as a 1986 "Homemade Gaz 2D" serial number B9242.
This car is kept in my garage in Willoughby, OH.

'The best Lewis' Hamilton faces resurgent Ferrari in F1
Wed, Apr 5 2017SHANGHAI (Reuters) - Lewis Hamilton has raised his game but whether the Mercedes driver can deny Ferrari a second successive win of the season in China this weekend remains to be seen. On paper, the triple world champion is still the man to beat -- the most successful driver by far in Shanghai with four wins to date. "Lewis is the best Lewis that I've seen in the last four years, both on and off the track," said Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff after the Briton started on pole and finished second to Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel in the Australian season-opener. "He has become a pillar of this team and he proved that in Melbourne." But Vettel is leading the championship, the first time a non-Mercedes driver has done that since he took his fourth title with Red Bull in 2013, and once-dominant Mercedes have a fight on their hands. Mercedes, who have taken both the drivers and constructors' titles for the last three years, have won four of the last five races in China. As Melbourne showed, however, past form may count for little in a season of sweeping rule change. "If you think you are going to cruise to victory in the future, based on a track record of success, you'll be proven wrong very quickly," said Wolff. "Australia was a weekend full of lessons, now we go to China ready and excited for another battle." Ferrari have not started a season with consecutive wins since 2004 at the peak of the Michael Schumacher era, the Italian team taking 15 victories from 18 races that season. Vettel's win in Australia ended a victory drought for Ferrari stretching back to September 2015, and drew rare praise from company chairman Sergio Marchionne, but they must now prove they can be genuine contenders. "You really have to go step by step," said Vettel. "It's good to know that we have a great car but it's just the beginning: new regulations, new generations of cars so there will be a lot of progress." The cars this year are longer and wider, sporting fatter tires and more swept-back bodywork as part of a rules shake-up aimed at making them faster, more spectacular to watch and harder to drive. But overtaking has also become more difficult, with Australia raising concern about the lack of real moves. The long straights and wide sweeps of the Shanghai circuit saw 128 passes last year, more than at any other track, and should provide a more definitive verdict.
Mercedes-Benz engines with 48-volt systems coming in 2017
Tue, Jun 14 2016As part of a big green push announced yesterday, Mercedes-Benz is jumping into the world of 48-volt power. The company will launch a new family of efficient gasoline engines next year and will begin rolling out 48-volt systems with it, likely in its more expensive cars first. Mercedes will use the 48-volt systems to power mild-hybrid functions like energy recuperation (commonly called brake regeneration), engine stop-start, electric boost, and even moving a car from a stop on electric power alone. These features will be enabled through either an integrated starter-generator (Mercedes abbreviates it ISG) or a belt-driven generator (RSG). (RSG is from the German word for belt-driven generator, Riemenstartergeneratoren. That's your language lesson for the day.) Mercedes didn't offer many other details on the new family of engines. There are 48-volt systems already in production; Audi's three-compressor SQ7 engine uses an electric supercharger run by a 48-volt system, and there's a new SQ5 diesel on the horizon that will use a similar setup with the medium-voltage system. Electric superchargers require a lot of juice, which can be fed by either a supercapacitor or batteries in a 48-volt system. Why 48-volt Matters: Current hybrid and battery-electric vehicles make use of very high voltages in their batteries, motors, and the wiring that connects them, usually around 200 to 600 volts. The high voltage gives them enough power to move a big vehicle, but it also creates safety issues. The way to mitigate those safety issues is with added equipment, and that increases both cost and weight. You can see where this is going. By switching to a 48-volt system, the high-voltage issues go away and the electrical architecture benefits from four times the voltage of a normal vehicle system and uses the same current, providing four times the power. The electrical architecture will cost more than a 12-volt system but less than the complex and more dangerous systems in current electrified vehicles. The added cost makes sense now because automakers are running out of ways to wisely spend money for efficiency gains. Cars can retain a cheaper 12-volt battery for lower-power accessories and run the high-draw systems on the 48-volt circuit. The industry is moving toward 48-volt power, with the SAE working on a standard for the systems and Delphi claiming a 10-percent increase in fuel economy for cars that make the switch.
Audi considers a rugged SUV — maybe on the Scout platform
Fri, Jan 27 2023Audi engineers are formulating plans to possibly build a “super saloon” luxury off-roader SUV in 2027, It would compete in a segment that now includes the Land Rover Defender and Mercedes-Benz G-Class, according to a report in BritainÂ’s Autocar. According to Audi designer Marc Lichte, quoted in the story, the platform for the new model could be borrowed from the Volkswagen GroupÂ’s recently announced sister brand, Scout Motors, which is currently developing electric-powered concepts and prototypes. While Audi has developed a PPE (Premium Platform Electric) architecture for its base EV lineup, that would be replaced in the planned model with ScoutÂ’s ladder chassis to provide the steep departure angles and ground clearance needed to negotiate tough terrain, as well as with the latest generation of AudiÂ’s Quattro four-wheel-drive technology, Autocar reports. Audi is well into development of its Activesphere project, an enticing design blend of coupe and hatchback. The Activesphere uses PPE, co-developed by Audi and Porsche, and will appear in a production Audi product by the end of this year. Audi says. Beyond that, “I think there is space" for a rugged SUV in AudiÂ’s passenger car lineup, Lichte said. “There is potential because there are only two premium players” in this particular segment" (Mercedes-Benz and Land Rover) “and I think there is a space for a third one.” The upscale Defender was by far Land RoverÂ’s best-selling car last year, with 66,805 sold, and the G-Class set a new sales record the previous year with 41,174 moved worldwide. Audi obviously would like to capitalize on this popularity of the rugged 4x4 segment. The proposed competitor, said Lichte, “will not look like a G-Class and it will not look like a Defender, I can promise you. It will be something else."
