NO RESERVE!

This is a spectacular looking and excellent running and driving classic 1990 Mercedes Benz 300SL Coupe Roadster with both tops and low miles!

In a gorgeous Desert Taupe (bronze) over light tan leather.

With both tops including the removable hard top and the power canvas convertible soft top in chocolate brown.

All power and everything works including the power soft top, power seats, power windows, power tilt and telescoping steering wheel, power mirrors, etc.

Air conditioning works great and blows ice cold when charged but there is a freon leak somewhere - currently blowing ice cold and will be blowing ice cold when transferred to a new owner.
However, freon will eventually leak out and the A/C will eventually blow warm air.

All instruments, gauges, switches, and the original radio are all working great.
No rips or tears in the upholstery and no cracks in the dash.

Sitting on almost $800 of a newer matched set of Pirelli P-6000's with 80% to 85% tread remaining.

LOW MILES SUBSTANTIATED by a very clean Auto-Check report! The report shows a minor accident from 1997 which I understand was a minor parking lot fender-bender that only damaged the passenger door - now completely invisible!

Comes with the original Owner Manual and other booklets, original tool kit in the trunk, original First Aid kit in the trunk, and two (2) master keys both with working remotes.

Original spare tire has never been out of the trunk; with original jack.

Body and undercarriage are in great condition.

Has the famous bullet-proof Mercedes in-line 6-cylinder - economical on gas, easier to maintain than the V-8, and you can cruise all day long at 100+ mph!
Shifts perfectly.
Runs and drives smooth, strong, and quiet, and handles like the true sports car it was intended to be. I would not hesitate to drive this car cross-country.
Aside from being a superb automobile, this car has already experienced all of the depreciation its ever going to, and this Series SL is actually now starting to appreciate!
There's alot of car here for not alot of money!

ON THE DOWN SIDE: Has a few tiny stone chips and scratches in the paint but nothing I could focus my cheesie camera on. The canvas soft top has a couple of scrapes in the canvas at the corners where it folds into the "down" compartment. The A/C freon has a leak somewhere although the A/C is currently blowing ice cold and will be blowing cold when transferred to a new owner - I only bought this car to drive with the top down so I haven't bothered to fix it, but the new buyer may want to get this fixed. There's a small sliding cover over the Lighter / Ashtray compartment that slid down into the console and I've never tried to get it out. There's a small plastic snap-in cap near the passenger sun visor that's broken (see close-up image).

Mercedes teases a new Maybach concept convertible

Wed, Aug 9 2017

Once again, Mercedes is taking a Vision concept to the Pebble Beach Concours this year. To start generating excitement, the company has released a teaser trailer for the car, and effectively no other information. But we think we've pieced together what the car is. Let's look at the video first. It shows a voluptuous blue body. It's all curves and clean lines inside and out. It also has an impressively prodigious prow with a proud three-pointed star at the front. The interior is all white with very little detail, and in addition to chrome, there are many copper trim pieces. There appear to be only two seats, too. Toward the end, we see a strip of copper trim on the outside as well, and just before the shot changes, we can see a bit of white interior that indicates this is a convertible. So we know this is an elegant, luxurious roadster. Is there anything else we can discern? Well, it seems Mercedes may have accidentally revealed the name of the car, or at least what it's based on. The video's file name includes the words "Maybach six." That happens to be the name of last year's Mercedes-Maybach coupe concept. On top of that, there's a striking resemblance between the long, flowing hoods of both cars. So it seems like a pretty safe bet that Mercedes will show the convertible version of that car, which was 18 feet long, and produced 738 horsepower from a quartet of electric motors. We'll find out if we're right when the car is revealed at Pebble Beach. These are the cars with the best and worst depreciation after 5 years

Thu, Nov 19 2020

The average new vehicle sold in America loses nearly half of its initial value after five years of ownership. No surprise there; we all expect that shiny new car to start depreciating as soon as we drive it off the lot. But some vehicles lose value a lot faster than others. According to data provided by iSeeCars.com, trucks and truck-based sport utility vehicles generally hold their value better than other vehicle types, with the Jeep Wrangler — in both four-door Unlimited and standard two-door styles — and Toyota Tacoma sitting at the head of the pack. The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited's average five-year depreciation of 30.9% equals a loss in value of $12,168. That makes Jeep's four-door off-roader the best overall pick for buyers looking to minimize depreciation. The Toyota Tacoma's 32.4% loss in initial value means it loses just $10,496. The smaller dollar amount — the least amount of money lost after five years — indicates that Tacoma buyers pay less than Wrangler Unlimited buyers, on average, when they initially buy the vehicle. The standard two-door Jeep Wrangler is third on the list, depreciating 32.8% after five years and losing $10,824. Click here for a full list of the top 10 vehicles with the least depreciation over five years. On the other side of the depreciation coin, luxury sedans tend to plummet in value at a much faster rate than other vehicle types. The BMW 7 Series leads the losers with a 72.6% drop in value after five years, which equals an alarming $73,686. BMW's slightly smaller 5 Series is next, depreciating 70.1%, or $47,038, over the same period. Number three on the biggest losers list is the Nissan Leaf, the only electric vehicle to appear in the bottom 10. The electric hatchback matches the 5 Series with a 70.1% drop in value, but since it's a much cheaper vehicle, that percentage equals a much smaller $23,470 loss. Online Find of the Day: Lexus-engined Mercedes pickup is a vintage hybrid

Tue, 16 Sep 2014

You have to love someone who gets incredibly committed to a very weird idea. What you see for sale here is a right-hand drive 1971 Mercedes-Benz 220D in South Africa, but this old Mercedes is now converted into a pickup, complete with bed cover, and there's big secret under the hood, too.
The pickup conversion appears well done based on seller Sedgefield Classic Cars' photos. Even the tonneau cover fits well. You could almost believe that this Mercedes lived its life as a Chevrolet El Camino-like pickup from the very beginning.
However, the rear-quarters conversion might not be the weirdest thing about this Mercedes. The original diesel is gone from the engine bay in favor of a Lexus V8. It seems really odd to pop the hood and find a Japanese mill in this German car, but the photos make it look like a fairly well performed swap. So, bravo to the crazy thinking. According to the seller speaking to Autoblog by email, "as far as we can establish, this was done a few years ago, with all Lexus components."
