1982 MERCEDES 380SL CONVERTIBLE Relisted This Was the car to have in the 70's and 80's and they are still cool to look at and fun to drive I bought this car at the spring Carlisle auction about five years ago as my first Mercedes and first convertible. I drove it from April to October up until last year when I started working every weekend. The car sat all last year so its time to let it go to someone who can enjoy it. The engine runs well and the car drives very nice. I am sure it could use a good going over after sitting for over a year, but I did start the engine regularly and it always fired right up. The red paint is deep and glossy. You can find several dings in the horizontal surfaces if you know where to look. I got a price of $400 from the paintless repair guy to take them out but never got around to getting it done. There are two nicks in the windshield way over on the passenger side corner, completely out of view. Since owning the car the radiator and exhaust have been replaced as well as regular oil changes and service. The millage is low at just over 100K for this year car and the odometer is still working. The interior is almost perfect with only a tiny crack in the dash. The common broken seat frame has been repaired. The tires are like new and the wheels are in great shape. The soft top is excellent and I have the matching hard top I will install prior to shipping. The car is stored in Medford Long Island NY and is available to view and drive. Please only bid on the car if you intend to complete the transaction, I have lost my storage space and must move this and several other vehicles. I require a $500 deposit within 48 hours of auction close. |

The Mansory Speranza proves that money can buy taste and good sense...
Tue, 05 Mar 2013...Just kidding.
No one in their right mind has ever accused German tuners Mansory of being subtle. So, when our Geneva team wandered across the Mansory Speranza - A Mercedes-Benz Gelandewagen that has been denuded of its roof and spackled inside with quilted leather and red carbon fiber - they didn't ask a lot of existential questions. Why does the Speranza exist? Because Germans are weird sometimes, that's why.
Forget for a moment that you'll have to pay Mansory hundreds of thousands of euros (we're guessing, no pricing information has been revealed) for the privilege of converting your G-Class into something that looks like a Suzuki Samurai, and prepare to be impressed by the details. The tuning house has increased the output of the Mercedes V8 to a healthy 700 horsepower and 668 pound-feet of torque. The wheels are 24-inches, and wear almost unbelievable 305-section ultra-high performance Vresdestein tires. Carbon fiber can be found nearly everywhere one looks, including making up the housing for the spare tire. Oh, and there are leather pillows for the backseats... no word on whether they're standard or optional, but we're looking in to it.
2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class caught totally undisguised
Mon, 18 Mar 2013Based on the lightly camouflaged spy shots of the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class we've seen lately, it hasn't taken a vivid imagination to picture what the next iteration of this big luxury sedan will look like. Even so, we now we have our first unobstructed views of the redesigned S-Class, codenamed W222, as it has just been caught out flaunting for some promo shots.
The first thing we notice about the new S-Class design is the disappearance of the last generation's flared wheel arches. Yet the new design adds even more character with bodyside creases similar to the CLS-Class and some elements reminiscent of 2007's F700 Concept, including the massive grille and vertical LED taillights. Other key details include a large panoramic roof and the narrow exhaust outlets, but the large LED-trimmed headlights and the aggressive front fascia are probably the biggest departure from the current design. With these spy shots, we also catch a blurry shot of the interior, but we've seen a practically uncovered look at the new S-Class' cabin back in January.
Overall, the next S-Class sports an expressive and premium new look, but as far as all-new designs go, it's quite conservative - a move no doubt fitting for these lean financial times.
