For sale is a very low mileage (58,648 miles) Mercedes 560SL Roadster. This has to be one of the best 560SL's available. The exterior paint, trim and mechanicals are in very excellent condition with no issues to identify. The interior leather, carpets and fittings show very minimal signs of wear with no tears or signs of weakness or discoloration. All mechanical systems function smoothly and as intended. Tires are like new Michelin Pilot 205/65/15 (min 9/32" tread remaining, all tires). Car includes matching body color hard top and garage storage stand. The convertible top is new (correct fabric) and fits tightly and correctly. Factory carpeted floor mats as well as period correct cocoa floor mats are included. Exterior color is metallic gray with a rich saddle tan leather interior and black convertible top. The hard top is not pictured but is body color and in perfect shape.
Engine is the reliable 5.6 liter and is smooth with no issues as is the transmission, brakes, ac, charging system and all other mechanicals. Erebus Motorsport Mercedes E-Class V8 Supercar completes the field [w/videos]
Sat, 23 Feb 2013Ford, Holden and Nissan introduced their V8 Supercar challengers a while back. Erebus Motorport, whose racing program got the green light not even 120 days ago, has finally shown off the Mercedes-Benz E-Class racer that will complete this year's field of entries. The first AMG race car ever to be built outside of Germany, it's an Australian-built tube-frame chassis specced to the series' Car of Tomorrow rules, fitted with body panels that channel the E63 AMG.
Supported by AMG Customer Motorsport, the 5.0-liter engine is provided by HWA in Germany, the racing arm of AMG. Regulations dictate that it have roughly 650 horsepower, a redline between 7,000 and 7,500 rpm and a torque curve that matches the parity baseline set for all cars.
Lee Holdsworth, Tim Slade and Maro Engel will drive the three team cars, each with different sponsors. Their first showing will be at the Clipsal 500 on March 3 in Adelaide, here in the US we'll get to see them in May at the Circuit of the Americas. Mercedes-Benz GLA Concept gets mobbed in China
Sat, 20 Apr 2013If the reception it received at the Shanghai Motor Show is any judge of marketplace acceptance, Mercedes-Benz has a hit on its hands in the form of the GLA Concept. And we can understand why - we're quickly becoming fans of Mercedes' recent styling language, as defined by new models like the CLA and this GLA Concept.
The big news on the exterior front are the headlamp clusters, which have frickin' laser beams attached to their foreheads embedded inside that are capable of projecting videos and images on a screen. Plus, a pair of video cameras are mounted on the roof that can be used to capture driving excitement or removed and taken with you. How cool is that? We just hope they have a substantial locking mechanism to prevent would-be thievery...
If the exterior is mostly ready for production, with a few of the more outlandish elements moved to the trash bin - like, for instance, laser-beam headlamps and removable action cams - the interior is a true custom job that screams concept loud and clear. There are all kinds of jewel-like finishes inside, along with transparent surfaces showing what looks like metal latticework underneath and some awfully thick looking leather with massive exterior stitching done by hand similar to what you'd find on a baseball glove.
