Cosmetically the body looks fantastic for a 2003 though there are blemishes on both bumpers: on the underside of the front bumper and the right side of the rear bumper (I've included photos.)     The right exhaust resonator has an extra note indicating a possible loosening baffle.
This Sport AMG edition SL-500 has just about every option except brake assist cruise.  It has GPS, push button start, keyless entry, keyless start, hard top convertible, pano roof, memory and power seats and mirrors including the center rear view mirror, heated seats, lateral stability control and much much more.
Rear tires recently replaced and front tires a year old with plenty of life.
Dealer serviced with all recent records to go with vehicle.  The SL comes with 3 keys:  a FOB key and 2 keyless-go keys.

My wife and I have had a blast owning The Bullet.  SL500s are quite possibly the finest automobiles ever made!  Look at the lines! This car is poetry when standing still and poetry in motion.
When the SL500's engine roars to life you can feel it in your heart, it has more power than even the largest military Hummer, yet when pushed merely makes a slight whooshing sound and achieves 60mph in 6 seconds, it does, I can attest to it.  Shifting through its gears the SL500's automatic transmission offers continuous, unbroken smooth acceleration more like a silent turbine jet engine. The SL500's ground speed exceeds the speed at which aircraft lift off, and ten SL500s have more power than a locomotive with a lot less weight and noise.  SL500s cost five times what a normal car does not by excess, but by the absence of all the little noises, inconveniences and compromises of lesser cars, it was true when new and it is true 10 years on.

The car must be picked up before February 9th.

Mercedes S-Class Magic Body Control ad is clucking awesome

Tue, 24 Sep 2013

This is a new ad from Mercedes-Benz. At no point does it show an automobile. Instead, it stars animals, but not the sort you might normally see in car commercial. This ad is all about chickens. It is bizarre, to say the least, with Diana Ross and the Supremes belting it out in the background, but it all kind of comes together when you realize just what Mercedes is hawking (yeah, pun intended).
It's for the manufacturer's Magic Body Control, found on the new S-Class. The system basically analyzes the road and prepares the suspension accordingly, leading to a ride that is, in the words of our own Chris Paukert "nothing short of spooky." You can read about it in our full review of the 2014 S550. Take a look below for the 53-second spot.

Next Mercedes-Benz GLK to get AMG variant? Not likely...

Fri, 15 Mar 2013

If you think Mercedes-Benz will slap an AMG badge on anything with wheels, think again. Word has it the German manufacturer will not offer buyers a performance version of the GLK, with Tobias Moers, director of AMG vehicle development, saying that he doesn't see a market for the car. That's not to say the picture won't change in the near future, however. According to CarAdvice.com, AMG is keeping a close eye on the arrival of the Porsche Macan.
"Maybe there will be a change in the market when the Porsche [Macan] comes up," Moers said, "but right now, no."
The real hitch in the giddy-up seems to be cost. Moers says developing the machine into something worthy of an AMG would represent "a huge investment." We can't exactly argue with that. Fortunately, AMG buyers have plenty of Mercedes-Benz models to choose from.

Zetsche's CEO tenure extended through 2016 at Daimler

Sun, 24 Feb 2013

There appear to be two takes on Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche having his contract extended for three more years, to 2016. A report in The Detroit News quotes the chairman of Daimler's supervisory board, Manfred Bischoff, talking up the stability at the top, "With today's extensions of the contracts of Dieter Zetsche and Thomas Weber, we are maintaining the important continuity at the top executive level." Bischoff also stated that that Zetsche has a plan to "further enhance Daimler's overall performance."
Over at Reuters, though, the three-year extension was seen as a lack of complete confidence in Zetsche's plans, since his contract was supposedly meant to be extended by five years. A spokesman said the board decided to extend executive contracts by only three years if the person was 60 or would turn 60 during the contract, but that was news to observers. Zetsche wants to make Mercedes-Benz the top selling luxury manufacturer globally by 2020, but has fallen to third place behind Audi and BMW. It hasn't held the top spot 2005, and investors judged it valued at half that of BMW at the end of 2012 once Daimler's truck business was subtracted.
Analysts cites the fact that Daimler stock hasn't bested its rivals but twice in twelve years, and that the company revised its profit target downward last year by nearly one billion euros, warning of stagnant earnings this year and will miss its original margin target for 2013.
