For Sale Today: 1993 Mercedes Benz 600 SL Convertible w Both Power Soft and Hardtops. This is a very clean car that's been driven very little in the last few years. The owner is a car dealership owner and this was his wife's car, whom passed away last year quite suddenly and he asked me to help him sell it on e-bay, as it has been hard for him to part with her car. If you have any questions I will pass them on to him, but I have had the opportunity to drive the car and it is a "sweet car". I don't know much about these cars, but I was told that it cost over 120,000 dollars in 1993 new. The A/C blows ice cold, and as far as I can see everything works as it should. It has dual leather power driver and passenger seats, completely power convertible soft top and a hardtop as well as a Kenwood C.D Stereo system. I see others talk about a hydraulic suspension control system,(but I'm not sure how that works) as I only drove it about 10 miles, but car drives very nice to me. Don't have any other paperwork for the car, but it has been well maintained, as you can see in the photos. If you have any questions about the car or anything at all, just e-mail me BEFORE you bid, and I will get you an answer. The car is for sale at a dealer friends car lot,in the showroom, with a asking price that matches the buy it now price. We fully intend to let the auction proceed to the last bid, as the car needs to sell to a new home, however we do reserve the right to cancel all bids if the car sells of the lot before the auction concludes. Bid with confidence, but as with any used 20 year old car, it is being SOLD AS-IS AS SEEN IN PHOTOS with "NO WARRANTY EXPRESSED OR GIVEN. We invite all interested parties to come personally or send a professional to inspect the car for them before placing any bids. Once you bid, your bid will not be retracted or cancelled, because, you didn't view the car in person, or you don't have the funds available, or lost your job. IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE MONEY OR CANT GET THE MONEY DON'T BID!!!!! Illinois residents will have to pay Illinois Sales Tax and Registration Fees that will be added to the Actual sale amount. All out of State buyers will be handed the title and will be responsible for fees at the time they register it, wherever. A NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT will be REQUIRED @the end of the bidding process. This is to ensure that the transaction will be completed in a timely fashion. PLEASE AGAIN E-MAIL ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT ANYTHING ON THE CAR BEFORE YOU BID!!!!!!!!!!!I WILL RESPOND TO ALL QUESTIONS AND GIVE THE BEST POSSIBLE ANSWERS THAT I CAN GET. THANKS FOR LOOKING AND GOOD LUCK BIDDING, THIS IS A NO-RESERVE AUCTION, SO BID EARLY AND OFTEN. THE LAST BIDDER WILL OWN THIS CAR. DON'T GET SNIPED AT THE LAST SECOND.

Recharge Wrap-up: Mercedes gets F1 efficiency, EV charging in Vermont, VW e-Golf to use Bosch
Mon, Jul 14 2014Efficiency equals performance, especially in the case of Formula 1 racing. The Mercedes AMC Petronas team points to several key efficiency technologies it uses to get the most out of its cars. And if their utter dominance so far this season is testament to this relationship, perhaps we should pay attention. Mercedes highlights hybrid tech, turbocharging, aerodynamics, lightweight construction, tribology (both in making internal components and lubricants more slippery) and simulation as crucial to getting around the track faster than anyone else. These just happen to be some of the same things that make the cars we drive on public roads more fuel-efficient. Learn more in the press release below. It's a good read. Brammo, maker of sweet electric motorcycles, is teaming up with TEAM Industries to make drivetrains for electric vehicles. TEAM, which specializes in drivetrain technology, will also become an investor in Brammo as part of the partnership. "The electric vehicle market is a growth market," says TEAM CEO and President David Ricke, "and TEAM and Brammo will be providing a wide range of solutions for OEM manufacturers." Read more over at EV World. Vermont celebrated the installation of a new EV charging station as part of a Green Energy Corridor between Boston and Montreal. When finished, drivers will be able to make the whole trip in an EV with access to charging along the way. For $5, customers can charge their vehicle in about 30 minutes at the Red Hen Baking Company in Middlesex. There are currently only about 700 EVs on the road in Vermont. The state has a goal to get 90 percent of its energy from renewable sources by 2050, and getting more EVs on the road is crucial to that mission. Vermont hopes that expanding the charging infrastructure will convince more people to go electric. Read more at Vermont Public Radio's website. For it's new e-Golf, Volkswagen will use Bosch chargers for home installation and ChargePoint stations at its dealerships. Bosch will have various 240-volt options for the home, and will also provide installation. e-Golf customers will also get a free ChargePoint membership, and will have access to the company's network of charging stations worldwide. The 2015 e-Golf goes on sale in the US later this year. Read more in the press release below. European jury picks finalists for 2015 Car of the Year
Tue, Dec 16 2014There are countless Car of the Year awards handed out each year, and naturally, Europe has its own way of doing things. Every year, a panel of jurists representing seven publications in seven different languages and seven different countries get together to name their joint Car of the Year. The panel released a list of 32 candidates back in July, and it has now whittled that list down to seven nominees. The list consists of the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, the Citroen C4 Cactus (shown), the Ford Mondeo, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the Nissan Qashqai, the Renault Twingo and the Volkswagen Passat. Of those seven, only two are available in the US – those being the Mondeo (sold Stateside as the Fusion) and the C-Class. The Passat is an entirely different model in North America, the Qashqai isn't offered here, Citroen and Renault don't even participate in our market and the BMW 2 Series is represented here only by the completely different coupe and convertible. Expect the one and only recipient of the 2015 Car of the Year award to be announced at the Geneva Motor Show this coming March, and while you're waiting, you can place your guesses for the eventual winner in Comments. Trump calls Germans 'very bad,' vows to stop their car sales in US
Fri, May 26 2017TAORMINA, Italy -Talks between President Trump and other leaders of the world's rich nations at the G7 summit on Friday were expected to be "robust" and "challenging" after he had lambasted NATO allies and condemned Germans as "very bad" for their trade policies. Trump's confrontational remarks in Brussels, on the eve of the two-day summit in the Mediterranean resort town of Taormina, cast a pall over a meeting at which America's partners had hoped to coax him into softening his stances on trade and climate change. According to German media reports, Trump condemned Germany as "very bad" for its trade policies in a meeting with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, signaling he might take steps to limit sales of German cars in the United States. "The Germans are bad, very bad," he reportedly told Juncker. "Look at the millions of cars that they're selling in the USA. Horrible. We're gonna stop that." White House economic adviser Gary Cohn on Friday confirmed the reports. "He said they're very bad on trade, but he doesn't have a problem with Germany." Cohn said Trump had pointed out during the meeting that his father had German roots in order to underscore the message that he had nothing against the German people. Trump's spokesman Sean Spicer said Trump had "tremendous respect" for Germany and had only complained about unfair trade practices in the meeting. Juncker called the reports in Spiegel Online and Sueddeutsche Zeitung exaggerated. The reports translated "bad" with the German word "boese," which can also mean "evil," leading to confusion when English-language media translated the German reports back into English. "The record has to be set straight," Juncker said, noting that the translation issue had exaggerated the seriousness of what Trump had said. "It's not true that the president took an aggressive approach when it came to the German trade surplus." "He said, like others have, that (the United States) has a problem with the German surplus. So he was not aggressive at all," Juncker added. In January, Trump threatened to slap a 35 percent tax on German auto imports. "If you want to build cars in the world, then I wish you all the best. You can build cars for the United States, but for every car that comes to the USA, you will pay 35 percent tax," he said. "I would tell BMW that if you are building a factory in Mexico and plan to sell cars to the USA, without a 35 percent tax, then you can forget that." Last year, the U.S.
