1989 Mercedes 560sl - Silver Blue W/ Gray - Stunningly Restored Driver !! on 2040-cars
Paramus, New Jersey, United States
1989 Mercedes 560SL ---- In stunning condition.
I purchased this car from the second owner last year with 121,000 miles on it. She was 65 years old and owned the car for 10 years. In those years, she only put roughly 7000 miles on the car. The original owner owned the car for 14 years, and put 114,000 miles on the car. It has been garage kept, in a heated, and humidity controlled garage all its life. For the past 11 years, it has been kept on a storage lift and used only during the summer months in good weather. There is NO RUST anywhere !!! The car was restored several years ago, and so the paint is stunningly shiny, and still looks WET!!! The interior was updated, but not restored. It shows very little age, and is in very good condition. Seats are solid, and smooth... no cracks, no fading. Carpets are fluffy, and clean. Wood on dash, and around radio is nearly perfect, and still shines.... wood around base console has some cracks in the lacquer, and can be easily replaced. A/C was updated to 134a and is ICE COLD. Brand new German soft top is less than a year old. I put the car into a major service as soon as I got with extensive maintenance done for several thousand dollars --- new brakes, new hoses, new fluids, etc. This is my dream car, and I hate to sell, but I just bought another toy for my collection and have run out of room --- wife wants her parking space in the garage back, so I need to sell this ASAP. Needs nothing... but could use a tune up. Only two known issues which are not urgent, but I want to be upfront with what I know: 1) Engine revs on start up until warm, 2) Power steering pump leaks one tiny drop every month. Both of these issues can be taken care of very easily and are common on EVERY 560SL. I'm not a dealer who is looking for maximum profit --- I want to find this beauty a good home for a fair price... Happy to ship overseas, and will gladly accommodate any arrangements/delivery/inspection as needed by winning bidder. |

2013 Mercedes-Benz GLK250 Bluetec gets 33 mpg, priced from $38,950*
Tue, 30 Apr 2013It's been more than a year since we first saw the 2013 Mercedes-Benz GLK250 Bluetec unveiled at the 2012 New York Auto Show, but it looks like the compact diesel crossover is finally starting to roll into dealerships. Those wanting to buy a diesel GLK will only have to pony up an extra $1,500 over a base, gas-powered GLK350, as the GLK250's starting price is listed at $38,590 (*not including $905 destination charge).
The turbocharged 2.1-liter four-cylinder diesel produces 200 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, and Mercedes-Benz has also provided some fuel economy numbers for this model, with claimed EPA estimates of 24 miles per gallon city and 33 mpg highway. There is no listing for the GLK250 on the EPA's website yet, but the figures represent significant increase over the GLK350's lackluster 19 mpg city and 25 mpg highway figures, which are for the rear-wheel drive model. The GLK250 comes standard with the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system - a $2,000 option on GLK350 - meaning that if you want an all-wheel-drive version of the 2013 GLK, it's actually cheaper to opt for the diesel model. Head over to the Mercedes-Benz site for the full 2013 GLK-Class configurator.
Mercedes CLA45 AMG Racing is ready for a spot on the grid
Tue, 10 Sep 2013Mercedes-Benz trotted out its CLA45 AMG-based racer at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. We first showed you the sedan in the deluge of news and reveals that precedes most good auto shows, and were blown away by the car, formally known as the CLA45 AMG Racing Series.
We were strolling by the Mercedes stand, and figured we'd pop in and take a look at the new racer and its carbon-fiber body panels, gutted interior, and race-sourced aero parts. It's a looker, both as a road car and a track weapon. It's not clear what series the CLA45 AMG will qualify for, although it does seem like a shoe-in for the World Touring Car Championship. Let us know what you think of the CLA racer down in the comments. In the meantime, we've got a full gallery of live images up top, along with the stock images that were posted last week on the Mercedes-Benz Facebook page.
Race Recap: 2013 Japanese Grand Prix flips several scripts [spoilers]
Mon, 14 Oct 2013Japan's Suzuka circuit is a great track that all the drivers love, but it doesn't usually provide the most thrilling, head-to-head racing. Where it does excel, however, is with surprises and "What just happened there?!" moments, and this year it was no different.
It started with Mark Webber in his Infiniti Red Bull Racing out-qualifying his teammate Sebastian Vettel for the first time this year. They were followed closely by Lewis Hamilton in the first Mercedes-AMG Petronas, the still-solid Romain Grosjean again outdoing teammate Kimi Räikkönen, Felipe Massa racing for another seat in Formula One and putting his Ferrari in fifth, then Nico Rosberg in the second Mercedes, Nico Hülkenberg in the first Sauber, Fernando Alonso in the second Ferrari, and Räikkönen continuing to do himself no favors by qualifying tenth.
For the second year in a row, the lights going out was the cue to start the first corner action...
