We purchased this a few weeks back from a dealer we deal with in Hilton Head S.C.  ...When we got the car it drove out well as it was and could tell it had been maintained as it should.. The A/C was nice and cold and it went through all the gears nice and smooth..

As you can tell from some of our photos we keep SL s and SLC s in stock, I enjoy the cars because they are rugged yet dependable and still look as cool as they did in the 70's and 80's..When we got the car we knew that there was a clerical error at some point and the carfax reads mileage inconsistently,This usually happens when the odometer stops working (this one works fine)..Not sure what happened and its not a big issue to us as its a 29 year old car..

The car went to service for an inspection and really all it seemed to need was an oil change so that's all we have done to it..The car cranks  as it should and tracks down the road well, The steering box and rack feel tight and doesn't wander..These are expensive if they need replacing..

Both of the power windows work smooth and don't get stuck or need any help going up and down..The cruise control works well, the A/C as stated earlier is fine, the clock works.. Sorry about the radio it's an aftermarket cd player, I am a factory type guy but it is a clean installation..
Mechanically the car sounds great and does't have any odd noises coming from anywhere throughout the car..

The tires are in excellent shape and have plenty of tread on them..Usually I will have the wheels separated from tires and have them properly resprayed but these are like new..I believe the car to be a several year old respray of the entire car because the paint is in excellent condition, The paint seems to be a base/clear job and there are virtually no imperfections..A very high quality job was done on the car..All of the moulding and rubber gaskets and such were replaced or removed before painting..There is no over spray on the outside of the car whatsoever..The rocker panels are clean and don't seem to have any rust in the common places..There is a small section under the left front body trim that shows about a tic- tac sized spot of rust right above the trim piece..Not worth repairing if you were to ask me..The undercarriage is nice and tidy and seems to not have been abused.. There is a slight bit of seepage coming from the oil pan area but the car as been on pavement for two weeks and there is nothing dripping on the ground..Also the the under hood mat is brand new..Probably installed by the previous owner..

The soft top seems to have barely been used..We put it up after hosing it down to soften and stretch it out and about ten minutes later it was simple to put up and down..Never force any soft top that you think has been down any length of time..They could stretch and tear, So hose them down and wait for it to relax and become soft again..Just a tip from old guys back in the day..Course I'm only 38..The hardtop is in great shape and needs nothing..Very easy on and off, Nothing is warped...

Even though the car seems to have been resprayed nothing leads me to believe it has ever been in an accident, The body lines on every corner are correct as they should be..All of the stainless is in nice shape and the chrome on the bumpers is nice also..There is a very very small ding in the middle of the bumper on the rear on the top...The trunk is nice and tidy and comes complete with factory spare with tire as well as all tools along with caution display placard for an emergency...The dash has the smallest crack near the bezel that you can imagine..I tried to take a close up of it..This is not a dash cover..The wood is shiny and completely intact..The chrome around the wood is all there and not frayed or warped..The seats are in excellent shape with very little wear on the bolsters..They have not been redone..They are the original leather..

Overall this is a nice above driver quality car with virtually no issues to speak of..It can driven daily if you were to ask me..They are reliable cars anyways..Yes this a double cam chain car for those who weren't sure about the 84's..I appreciate the opportunity to do business with those of you who have read this...Chris

We have priced the car to what we believe is fair for the buyer and the seller, Because it is less than others doesn't reflect the condition of the vehicle..We are realistic as to what a car like this is really worth in today's world..

Car is not for sale locally while it is on E-Bay, Or outside of E-bay (please don't ask)..

Mercedes-Maybach GLS prototype caught testing with its big new grille

Tue, Oct 8 2019

The new Mercedes-Benz GLS is a massive tech fortress on wheels, so the Maybach GLS is bound to be a massive tech castle. Last we heard from the gigantic Benz SUV was that it was going to be built at Mercedes’ Alabama plant. With a starting price expected to be around $200,000, itÂ’ll probably be the most expensive vehicle produced in the U.S. These spy shots give us an idea of what weÂ’re going to be looking at when the production SUV is finally revealed. Our first hint that this prototype is a Maybach is the grille. It looks suspiciously similar to the grille on the Vision Mercedes-Maybach Concept with all the vertical slats running down the big maw. Minimal camouflage is disguising the exterior for the most part, but we imagine Mercedes is hiding any of the gaudier parts of the car itÂ’d like to save for a big reveal. The exhaust outlets sure do look a bit different than the regular GLS, but the outside is generally the same as what we see today. As for the interior, thatÂ’s where most of the magic is expected to happen. A significantly overhauled look is inevitable, with the focus on even more luxurious materials than the most expensive norm-core GLS. A rear seat that's fit for a king or two is likely, along with Maybach-exclusive tech to boot. For now, we canÂ’t see in the heavily camouflaged and taped-off windows, leaving us to wonder about the luxury within. This Mercedes-Maybach is expected to compete with other massively expensive SUVs like the Bentley Bentayga or a fully decked-out Range Rover.  Everything thatÂ’s optional on the GLS should come as standard here, including the trick E-Active Body Control suspension. Look for a reveal coming in the not-so-distant future, as this prototype doesnÂ’t look terribly far from production to us. Mercedes-Maybach spied inside and out sporting the huge S-Class screen

Wed, Apr 22 2020

A new Mercedes-Benz S-Class is well on its way, and that means a new Mercedes-Maybach is following right behind it. We were introduced to the new Mercedes-Maybach strategy over five years ago. At the end of 2019, Mercedes added to the small collection with the GLS 600, bringing an SUV into the Maybach fold. These spy shots mark our first good look inside and outside the next-gen Mercedes-Maybach sedan. We’ll point out the massive screen first. Photos of this huge slab of screen have largely shown it turned off. Now, we get a solid look at the display all lit up and running MercedesÂ’ next iteration of MBUX. The icons and UX look a whole lot like MercedesÂ’ current infotainment system design, just blown up to a much larger size. Mercedes is surely going to hit us with some new out-there features we didnÂ’t know we wanted and may not even use, but thatÂ’s the way it goes with excessive luxury. The gauge cluster is pretty standard for new Mercedes with a flat digital screen. An “EQ” emblem displayed in the cluster also indicates that Mercedes plans to implement its EQ Boost mild-hybrid tech with the turbocharged engine(s) offered in this new generation. The current car comes in S560 (V8) and S600 (V12) variations. We don't know what MercedesÂ’ powertrain plans are for the time being, but the GLS 600 uses 48-volt technology with its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 and makes 550 horsepower and 538 pound-feet of torque. Ideally, the smooth and silky V12 sticks around in the top-shelf S-Class as well. As for the design, itÂ’s exactly what one might expect from a Mercedes-Maybach. The wheelbase is stretched compared to the regular S-Class weÂ’ve spied before, and it has the signature slatted grille. Pop-out door handles appear to be carried over from the new S-Class, too. We expect the new S-Class isnÂ’t far from a reveal. ThereÂ’s a chance it still breaks cover this year, even as most automakers face delays from the coronavirus. Once itÂ’s out, the Mercedes-Maybach is likely to follow soon after. Related video:

Gordon Murray, F1-driven production and .. the Pontiac Fiero

Tue, Oct 31 2017

Gordon Murray's design and engineering chops are unquestionable. But does his carmaking approach owe something to the short-lived Pontiac Fiero, a scrappy little car program that emerged from GM against serious resistance? Murray had a Formula One career that ran from 1969 to 1991, with stints at Brabham ('69 to '86) and McLaren ('87-'91), that resulted in several shelves' worth of trophies for the cars he was instrumental in designing. He moved on to McLaren Cars, the consumer side of things, where, during his tenure from 1991 to 2004, he helped design the McLaren F1 and the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, two cars that took learnings from his two decades in Formula One. What do all of these cars have in common? Three things: They are light. They were built in limited numbers. And they were (and are) exceedingly expensive—when the McLaren F1 debuted in 1994, it stickered at $815,000. Murray went on to establish Gordon Murray Design in 2007. GMD has created some interesting concept vehicles, such as the diminutive T.25 city car (94.5 inches long, 51.1 inches wide and 55.1 inches high), and the OX, a lightweight truck for the developing world that packs like an IKEA shelf and is working toward realization through a worthy crowdfunding campaign established by the Global Vehicle Trust. Now he has created a vehicle manufacturing company, Gordon Murray Automotive, that will use manufacturing methods that he developed under the moniker "iStream." Unlike a unibody, there are the "iFrame," a cage-like construction made with metallic components, and the "iPanels," which are composite. The panels aren't simply a decorative skin; they actually provide structure to the vehicle. Presumably this has something of the F1 monocoque about it. Going back to the three elements, (1) this arrangement results in a vehicle that can be comparatively light; (2) Murray has indicated that his manufacturing company will be doing limited-run production; and (3) to launch Gordon Murray Automotive they are going to be building a flagship model, about which Murray said, "With our first new car, we will demonstrate a return to the design and engineering principles that have made the McLaren F1 such an icon." Which seems to imply that it will be on the pricey side. According to the company's verbiage, "iStream forges an entirely new production method that defies conventionality with its Formula One-derived construction and materials technologies." It also sounds a whole lot like ...
