1982 Mercedes - Benz Sl 380 Convertible ( Been Sitting 10+yrs ) Not Junk on 2040-cars
Williamstown, New Jersey, United States
O.K. this Car has Been Parked about 10+ yrs. & yr. before being parked Had the Following work done : NEW ENGINE & TRANSMISSION ( Long Block ) Out of Crate : NOT REBUILT COMPLETE REMANUFACTURER O.E.M German Dealer ( Aprox. paid price - $8500.00 ) RADIATOR , 02 Sensor , Y - Pipe Assembly , Belts , Hoses , Fan Clutch Assembly , & So Fourth Done at same time . 6 months Later : Steering Pump , Tires ( Need Changing Again from age ) , Do Shockingly Hold Air & Still Roll though , Steering Box , New Soft Top ( ? Condition - Not been up in 6+yrs prob. wrinkled Mess / But Not Sure ) , Tie Rods Complete w / Steering Arm & Center Links. , ALL Brakes Front & Rear , & Miss. Other that I'm prob. leaving out. Later Installed All 4 ( Rebuildable ) BLISTEEN SHOCKS , & Other Parts Replaced in same period. ( Can't Remember & either can Original Owner / My Father ) But was parked next yr. because car was not needed & Always Needed Interior even then, Now Needed Worse - Seats , Console , & Carpet Worn in Areas. Car was 2 be finished but just never got around 2 it , was Covered 4 about 7+ yrs. but tattered so removed & Small areas of Rust became larger. Needs Right Rear Quarter work , Both Front Fenders Left Worse & Couple other spots. Paint still looks good , previous dealer put Good Paint over questionable areas & through time rust came through , funny thing is still looks o.k. 4 problem areas. Now car Will run Needs just Fresh fuel, oil , & brought back 2 life. I was going to do body & interior this summer but do to upcoming work schedule just no time. However because mechanics have been done. ( 4- 80% + ) Was started & run up until about 3 yrs ago just 2 keep everything moving so no question about running probs. Will Not Have them. Recently I found that Hardtop seals bad so water getting in ( Not Uncommon ) but floor pans look to be o.k. I don't want any more damage & if sits 2 much longer Will Happen. Also Note BRAND NEW Rocker Pannels Sitting in Car / Rockers on it at present have rust ware the jack points are Rest Look Fine / Underneath of car not bad , worse part of rusting is : Right rear quarter in which I would just order whole panel & have installed , Everything else not bad. This Engine by the way ALWAYS Ran Smooth even last time started 3yrs. ago. Not Lost a drop of ANY FLUID / STILL CLEAN - So car NOT A Prob. Getting Going NEEDS Cosmetic work at this point. CAR Really is a Good Project cause when you have High Millage Cars Like this 1 & Everyone States that Really Nice & they prob. are, but ARE U BUYING PAINT. Because Eventually they will Need PARTS & ARE NOT CHEAP. So with this 1 u are getting the Mechanics already NOT a Pretty-ed up BODY. BEEN THERE - DONE THAT !!! This Car Is Straight In ALL Places. Also NEVER has Any Reg. Fuel been in this Car - ONLY Mid - High Test & Is Important. Also Hoses & Lines Look as though car just taken off road BRAKES Still look 2 be working so : Fresh Fuel , Battery , & So Fourth & Car WILL RUN. Also Have 150.00 Complete Engine Computer Management Disc that also can go with car. ( Had 4 Knowing as Much as Poss. about car )Only thing is that Starter key pad code Needs to be Reset or just taken out cause can't remember #'s but not a major issue. Popular Science magazine's Best Of What's New 2012 all ate up with cars
Tue, 20 Nov 2012Popular Science has named the winners in its Best of What's New awards, the victors coming in the categories of aerospace, automotive, engineering, entertainment, gadgets, green, hardware, health, home, recreation, security and software. The automotive category did not go wanting for lauded advancements:
Tesla Model S: the Grand Award winner for being "the standard by which all future electric vehicles will be measured."
BMW 328i: it's 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gets called out for being more powerful and frugal than the six-cylinder it replaces.
Autoblog Unplugged: 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLA45 AMG
Fri, Feb 6 2015Mercedes-Benz's AMG division entered new territory in late 2013 with the launch of the CLA45, an all-wheel-drive sedan (with front-wheel-drive underpinnings) motivated by a turbocharged, four-cylinder engine. But it wasn't any old turbo-four – the boosted 2.0-liter powerplant claimed the title of most powerful production four-cylinder engine. From behind the wheel, we loved its turbo-heavy antics and steer-it-with-the-throttle dynamics. Now, Mercedes offers the GLA-Class – a small crossover based on that CLA architecture. And rather than just leave it alone in GLA250 guise, the AMG folks created the tiny-tough GLA45 high-riding hatch you see here. It's got the same 355-horsepower, 332-pound-feet turbo-four underhood, a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, and a unique sound that's unlike anything you might expect from a small CUV. That's why we took to some of our favorite backroads to capture another Autoblog Unplugged video with the GLA45. There's no talking, no music, no rizzle-razzle – just shots of the GLA45 driving down our favorite winding roads with nothing but the sweet, throaty sounds of the AMG powerplant. Good luck holding back your giggles when you hear the braaap of a quick gear-change. Mercedes-Benz Crossover Luxury Performance Videos mercedes gla-class mercedes gla45 amg
6 luxury car brands to watch in 2024
Tue, Jan 30 20242023 was a healthy year for the auto industry, and even with incentives returning and dealer lots filling up, there's plenty to like about the market if you build luxury automobiles, and we expect 2024 to be more of the same, which makes luxury-segment rivalries all the more interesting. Top luxury car brand rivalries? Well, that sounds downright uncivilized. But we know better, don't we? And when every quarterly sales update is an opportunity to remind somebody else that they bought the wrong status symbol, well, who can resist? Certainly not the diehard customers who fly their favorite brands' banners high. Read more: Auto sales: Industry records best year since 2019 Read more: 2023 auto sales and 2024 preview: Ford Bronco vs. Jeep Wrangler This is a tricky segment to define, but essentially, we're looking at luxury car brands with depth to their portfolios and dealerships that exist to attract real-world customers. The Bentleys, Rolls-Royces and McLarens of the world are luxury cars, certainly, but we're more concerned with brands that have a bit more mass appeal — manufacturers who treat supply constraints as fiascos rather than features. If you disagree with our selections, feel free to let us know in the comments. And since we're mostly concerned with finishing order, the luxury brands and totals featured here may change as new data come in throughout 2024. Due to the wild swings of the past several years, we're treating 2023 as the baseline by which we'll measure sales performance. And rather than rank brands vs. their finishing order in 2022, when supply-chain and inflationary issues still played havoc with sales figures, we're starting 2024 off with a clean slate. The mainstream luxury segment is always a dogfight, but with their varied approaches to electrification all of the major luxury brands are in the midst of reshaping the premium landscape. Who is doing it right? Well, according to U.S. shoppers, the usual suspects are up to their old tricks.
