1967 Mercedes Benz 250sl Hardtop Softtop 4 Spd 568h Red (w113 Like 230sl 280sl) on 2040-cars
Daytona Beach, Florida, United States
1967 Mercedes Benz 250SL Beautiful Survivor/Driver Level I purchased this 250sl out of long term ownership. The previous owner had the SL in New Mexico before moving to Illinois. This SL was driven regularly by the previous owner and was lovingly cared for and maintained. When I drove it this past weekend, it literally stopped traffic. I was pleasantly surprised by the number of camera phone pics, waves, questions and attention this SL demanded. It's a testament to the presence of this 250sl! This SL is absolutely striking in it's original Color Combination of 568H Signal Red over Black MB Tex and Black Softtop The paint is approximately 10-15 years old. It was a high quality repaint that has withstood the test of time. It polishes nicely and looks amazing! Of course, upon close-up inspection there may be some minor imperfections; however, you can enter this 250sl into any local show without hesitation. I tried to take photos of any issues with the paint and undercarriage. You can see the undercarriage could use a few small patches. Overall, considering how nicely the paint presents after 10-15 years of service, it is apparent that this SL has been lovingly garaged and maintained. Spot welds present on passenger fender and both "weep" lines or notches present at the headlight bezels. The correct M129 Engine, appears to be a factory replacement block, starts right up, Transmission Shifts Smoothly, Drives Smooth and Straight. The muffler should be replaced. I would also suggest a tune-up and fluid/filter service. The Interior color combination is stunning! The Black MBTex is an elegant contrast to the Signal Red Body and Dashboard. The Dash Chrome and Interior Wood present well. And the original Becker radio works. The Interior is is serviceable as-is...my only recommendation, and a personal preference, would be to add a set of black/red CoCo mats to give the interior that finished look. Original Jack, Lug Wrench and 14" Spare Tire. All Rims are Factory Correct 14" Rims. Glass is all in great condition and the chrome and stainless trim present well! I drove this SL this past weekend for several hours without issue. Candidly, I have not even detailed this SL. It really presents well and, after a professional detail, should look stunning! **I reserve the right to end auction early. Daimler employees can set email to auto-delete during vacation
Mon, 18 Aug 2014The Internet has shrunk the world in terms of the way people communicate by making it possible to send an email from Oslo and have it show up in Cleveland almost immediately. But that instant contact has wrecked the work/life balance for many. They get home from a long day at the office, yet they can never fully put their feet up and relax because another hour or more of checking and replying to emails awaits. However, German automotive giant Daimler is putting an end to that churn, at least while its employees are on vacation.
About 100,000 Daimler employees in Germany are eligible to opt-in to a new program called Mail on Holiday, according to The Atlantic. When the workers go on vacation, they can switch it on, and the service auto-deletes all of their incoming email. "Our employees should relax on holiday and not read work-related emails," said Wilfried Porth, board member for human resources, to The Financial Times as cited by The Atlantic.
Mail on Holiday puts a thumb on the scale of work/life balance in favor of a little more free time. The system means that Daimler employees shouldn't even be tempted to check their email on vacation because there's nothing there - and it also avoids them coming back from a relaxing holiday only to find a mailbox packed full of hundreds of unread messages. These days, people are absolutely obsessed with their work, often to the detriment of their health, not to mention spending time with their families and friends. On one hand, Mail on Holiday sounds like the sort of vacation breakthrough we'd need to truly unplug and unwind, but on the other hand, it makes our skin crawl just thinking about the lack of communication. Sunday Drive: Volvo hits a crossover home run, and people still love sports cars
Sun, Sep 24 2017Looking back at the week that just was clearly tells us at least three things. First, crossovers don't have to be boring. Second, people still love sports cars, from the attainable (Audi TT RS) to the fanciful (Mercedes-AMG GT C). And finally, the traditional German trio of premium luxury brands had better not rest on their laurels, because credible challengers are coming in from every direction. The biggest reveal of the week, at least judging by the interest of Autoblog readers, was the Volvo XC40. Not only is the little 'ute a looker, it introduces some innovative new buying/leasing schemes designed to appeal to an audience accustomed to trading in and trading up every couple of years. Think of Volvo's flat-fee lease as you would a smartphone contract, and you'll be on the right track. Genesis looks to have a hit on its hands in the form of the G70 sport sedan. We took a Korean-spec model for a spin and found a lot to like about the upstart contender. We can't wait to sample one here in the United States to see how it stacks up against the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. In other news, we're still really excited to see a production Ford Ranger Raptor. But if you just can't wait for the official reveal — it's OK, neither can we — take a look at the renderings in our post down below. As always, tune in to Autoblog next week for a front-row seat to all the happenings worth following in the automotive industry. Mercedes-Petronas AMG W04 launched to little fanfare, lots of pressure [w/video]
Tue, 05 Feb 2013No indoor cocktail hour for the launch of the W04, the newest chassis built by the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One team. Instead, Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton spent a morning in photo and video sessions at the track in Jerez, Spain then paused a moment to introduce the car. The team will want the W04 to demonstrate the World Championship credentials of the team personnel and one of the team drivers, instead of the mostly humble performances we've seen over the past three years.
The W04 has been fitted with a new five-element front wing, pushrod front and pull-rod rear suspension, a second-generation Coanda exhaust and an "aggressively packaged" rear end. A small vanity panel, à la Infiniti Red Bull's RB9, covers the stepped nose.
Team principal Ross Brawn has called it "a clear step forward in design and detail sophistication," but as much as we truly respect Brawn's abilities and achievements, we heard him say similar things about the updated W03 last year before almost every race weekend from about mid-season. We really hope he's right this time, and so does the team's newest driver, Lewis Hamilton. We'll do our best to ignore the parallels of the Mercedes F1 team having signed a sponsorship deal with Blackberry, another company trying to find its way back to the top and still struggling, and just point you to the video below of the W04 in action.
