2000 Mercedes S500 *amg* No Reserve!!! on 2040-cars

Year:2000 Mileage:129630

Arlington, Tennessee, United States

**RELISTED due to non-paying bidder.  Winner of last auction, made contact, said he would pay deposit on Saturday morning, then vanished and won't respond to messages.**

If you don't have the money or the integrity to follow through with the purchase, please don't bid and waste your time and mine.  Auctions are expensive and time consuming and with me moving in a month, I simply don't have time to play games.

2000 S500 AMG Mercedes.  Car has a few flaws and defects, but is being sold with NO RESERVE.  Runs and drives great.  The message center on the car displays a bunch of different faults like burned out lights, brake lining wear, oil level low, etc but I've checked all of the faults it calls for and there's no reason for the light to be one.  (oil level is fine, brakes are fine, lights all work, etc).  So, I have no idea why the fault codes are there and how to reset them.  It may be as simple as resetting with a code reader.  Air ride suspension leaks down after the car is parked for a week or so but resumes normal operation as soon as you start it.  A/C blows only warm air.

The car is fully loaded with every option known to man including heated seats, sunroof, navigation, Mercedes "onstar", automatic air ride suspension and much more.  This was an $80K car when new.  Oversized AMG rims have Michelin tires all the way around with good tread.  A few interior pieces are missing or broken such as the plastic trim around driver's seat, the carpet has a few stains, leather is worn in places and there's a couple of very small rust spots on the body as seen in pictures.  The previous owner had the suspension air pump replaced when it went bad.  Unfortunately, his wife drove the car with the bad pump, bottomed out the front suspension and creased the front fender lip on both sides (see pics).

I bought this car to be my daily driver but then found out we are moving to West Virginia so I bought an all wheel drive car instead.  I've driven this car only a few times and it is EXTREMELY fast and powerful.  It handles like it's on rails and rides like you're on a cloud.  AMG really new what they were doing when they took a good car and turned it into a great one.

$500 deposit due through PayPal within 48 hours, balance due in 7 days.  Buyer responsible for pickup or shipping arrangements from zip code 38002 (Arlington, TN)

New Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe spied in revealing state of dress

Tue, 19 Feb 2013

During a product briefing earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz told us that 2013 would be the "year of the S-Class." Makes sense, too, since the flagship Mercedes is so very close to finally showing its production-ready face. But the high-tech saloon isn't the only S-Class to talk about this year - quite the contrary. Seen here in decidedly revealing camouflage, the new S-Class Coupe will be joining its four-door compadre in the not-too-distant future, as well.
When it launches, the S-Class Coupe will officially do away with the CL-Class nomenclature. This doesn't come as a huge shock. After all, when the new E-Class coupe and convertible were launched, it officially marked the end of the long-running CLK-Class designation.
Thanks to the interesting camouflage seen here, we have a very good glimpse at how the S-Class Coupe will look when all of the molding and swirly paper are peeled off. Rakish body lines pulled from the CLS-Class meet a much more dynamic front fascia. Out back, there are horizontal taillamps rather than the vertical units used on the current car, and the whole package seems very svelte. Our spy photographer even posits that this will be "the best-looking car from Mercedes-Benz in ages."

Man makes record-setting drive across the US in 28 hours, 50 minutes

Fri, 01 Nov 2013

Records, as the say, are made to be broken. Whether that's cramming the most hot dogs down your gullet, running a faster mile, or yes, driving across the United States, odds are that there's someone out there wants to eat more, run faster or drive harder. Speaking of that last example, the record for driving from a set location on the east coast, in particular the Red Ball Garage in Manhattan to the Portofino Hotel in Redondo Beach, CA, has been one that has fascinated gearheads since a guy named Cannonball Baker made the trek from New York to LA in 53 hours, 30 minutes, in 1933.
The competition saw its glory days when Car and Driver's Brock Yates came up with the Cannonball Baker Sea-To-Shining Sea Memorial Trophy Dash (more affectionately known as the Cannonball Run), although the record was most recently set by Alex Roy and his 32-hour, seven-minute trek behind the wheel of a BMW M5 in 2006. Now, there's a new champion, who made the trip from east to west in a scarcely imaginable 28 hours and 50 minutes, behind the wheel of a 2004 Mercedes-Benz CL55 AMG. That's works out to an average speed of 98 miles per hour over the course of 2,813.7 miles.
His name is Ed Bolian, and Jalopnik has a writeup of the epic voyage that details everything from the history of the Cannonball Run to Bolian's preparation and trouble finding co-drivers, to the trip itself. It is well worth a read.

2015 Mercedes-Benz GLA priced from $31,300*

Mon, 28 Jul 2014

Mercedes-Benz has kindly let loose the price of the 2015 GLA-Class, telling Autoblog.com that the base 208-horsepower GLA250 in two-wheel drive will go for $31,300 *not including a destination charge of $925. That makes for $32,225 in total to get one off the lot, a price predicted as early as last year and in our recent First Drive. The other two available models can push power to all four wheels, and after the destination fee is applied the GLA240 4Matic (pictured) will be $34,225 while the 355-horsepower GLA45 AMG will change lives and wallets to the tune of $49,225.
On the base scale, that puts the GLA250 just a few hundred dollar bills above the more powerful, rear-wheel drive BMW X1 and a stack of hundreds below the less powerful, front-wheel drive Audi Q3. If you're keeping in-house score, the GLA250 comes in at $1,400 above its sedan platform-mate with the same engine, the CLA250. At the high end, however, the competition doesn't have anything that can touch the AMG trim. Not that it should matter all that much - Mercedes needed something to keep these buyers in the family, and now they have it. If any of them should need even more power and more money spent, then there's always that 394-hp Brabus flavor. We'll have more info and details on each trim when Mercedes unleashes the shebang in the not-too-distant future.
