I  just bought this car from a lady from los Angeles ca. who worked in the movie industry and is being sent back to austrialia, she paid $5.000 6 months ago and sunk in another $4,000. after I bought it I brought it directly to my mercedes mechanic who I had clean the fuel injection system, new spark plugs, air filter,  oil change, valve cover gaskets, tune up, oil change and ajust the  timing for maximum power increase, I do have an envelope of receipts from her for recent new tires, Kenwood sterio, battery and fuel accumulator, also my mechanic sees that the fuel pumps have been replaced recently, the car comes with owners manual, window sticker, service booklets and a protect-o-plate with the original owners name and los Angeles address on it. the window sticker is to a dealer in Santa Barbara ca. who knows, it would be cool to research this guy , this car cost $70 thou' and change when new, (that is equal to 2 Corvettes and a Cadillac) so you had to be pretty well off to buy one and there is a reason they cost so much ! because Mercedes put all the good stuff into them, hand built on carts at the Stutgart plant. I have four of them myself plus 2 parts cars and I sell parts to lots of wealthy people around the world who claim that that the sec is the best car ever built. I am also a muscle car  guy and do enjoy driving my sec's much more than my corvettes and Camaros, these cars are quite power, you'll be driving on the freeway and wonder why everyone else is driving so slow and then look down at  your speedo and see that your doing 85 ! handling  is awesome, these chassis are used by Baja racers, you need not slow down for speed bumps or dips, it's like a hover craft, the same with tight turns there is a hydrolic rear suspension , you will not spill a drop of your margarita .all right let's get on with the description; I will start with the negatives. the dash has 5 cracks, the windshield has a brake underneath the cowl ( the lowest portion of the windshield on driver side, not visible from most positions) the sun roof has some  opening and closing issues ( I am capable of fixing that, I have the parts but not the time) it has trouble stating when the car is warm ( this did not happen to my mechanic while in his possession ) and a couple of door dings that I will have my dentless guy take care of at my cost. other than that the paint is good to fine, it has been re-painted, the interior is better than most garage kept cars it runs and shifts real nicely with jack rabbit acceleration, all the windows work up and  down, all the seat functions work, all gauges work including clock, teliscoping steering colum works, seat belt extenders work, lights, blinkers, brake lights , fog lights all work

I did not get to finish the description, thanks ebay. the air conditioning does not blow very cold and the right hand mirror switch does not work. o.k that's it for the negatives here is what I can do ! I have a complete sunroof set up, I have the mirror switch and I have another dash with out cracks. let's work out a deal call me ,Terry 714 501 6118 . please ask questions before bidding. I will co-operate with your shipper or you can fly in to the L.a. area and drive it home anywhere in the u.s. . all inspections welcome. I require a $300 non-refundable paypal deposit within 48 hours of close of auction and the balance due within 7 days, check or money order

2014 Mercedes SL and SLK add small expansion to Takata airbag recall

Fri, 11 Jul 2014

Mercedes-Benz is the latest automaker to be affected by Takata's massive airbag recall. The company has announced a voluntary recall campaign on a small number of model-year 2014 SLK- and SL-Class roadsters.
In Mercedes' case, 300 vehicles are affected, 200 of which are in the hands of customers. According to spokesperson Donna Boland, the affected roadsters were built between March and April of this year.
The issue, which is apparently the fault of one of Takata's subcontractors, rests with some improperly installed fasteners, which could keep the airbag from performing the way it's supposed to. According to Boland, Mercedes isn't sure what, if any, injuries the recalled airbags could cause, but simply claims there's an increased risk in these particular vehicles. There's been no reported instances of the faulty airbags deploying on a customer and the original issue was found in a production test.

Race Recap: 2013 Japanese Grand Prix flips several scripts [spoilers]

Mon, 14 Oct 2013

Japan's Suzuka circuit is a great track that all the drivers love, but it doesn't usually provide the most thrilling, head-to-head racing. Where it does excel, however, is with surprises and "What just happened there?!" moments, and this year it was no different.
It started with Mark Webber in his Infiniti Red Bull Racing out-qualifying his teammate Sebastian Vettel for the first time this year. They were followed closely by Lewis Hamilton in the first Mercedes-AMG Petronas, the still-solid Romain Grosjean again outdoing teammate Kimi Räikkönen, Felipe Massa racing for another seat in Formula One and putting his Ferrari in fifth, then Nico Rosberg in the second Mercedes, Nico Hülkenberg in the first Sauber, Fernando Alonso in the second Ferrari, and Räikkönen continuing to do himself no favors by qualifying tenth.
For the second year in a row, the lights going out was the cue to start the first corner action...

13-year-old boy swipes dad's Mercedes, drives across Europe

Wed, 16 Jan 2013

After an argument with his adoptive parents that resulted in them taking away his mobile phone, an angry 13-year-old boy ran away from his home in Italy and headed straight to Poland to meet his biological sister. But instead of taking the train or hitching a ride, like most on the run, the young man (an accomplished go-kart racer and car enthusiast) grabbed the keys to his father's Mercedes-Benz and jumped behind the wheel for an impromptu road trip.
With less than 200 euros (about $270) in his wallet and a passport in his pocket, the youngster managed to put more than 500 miles between himself and his distraught parents, crossing two international borders in the process, before German police nabbed him just shy of the Polish border. According to reports, the vehicle was tracked - it wasn't his driving that alerted authorities to his location.
Reunited with his mother and father, who traveled to Germany to retrieve both their son and the vehicle, the young man apologized and acknowledged his error. As a result of his actions, social workers will increase checks on the family and we can be sure his parents are now hiding the keys.
