1999 Mercedes-benz Ml320 Base Sport Utility 4-door 3.2l on 2040-cars
Brooklyn, New York, United States
1999 Mercedes-Benz ML-320 Never in an accident, always garaged parked, clean/verified CarFax and always Mercedes-Benz dealer serviced. Its been well cared for and respected- this car is in great shape. In addition to routine maintenance, I recently replaced the AC compressor (this fall) along with new struts front & rear along with the springs and bushings. Tires are new as well. The car runs and handles amazing. It still manages to put a smile on my face when I drive it. I’m always impressed with its engineering- it feels like a well thought-out machine on the road. I've updated the car to include a top of the line, professionally installed Kenwood eXcelon touch screen navigation system with HD-Radio, CD, DVD, SD Card, Bluetooth and I-phone/Pod/Android integration. It sounds great and works with the Bose base module located under the drivers seat and amplifier that came originally with the car. The system allows for hands free calls and texts. I also have the original OEM radio and phone units for those who are looking for an original car. The paint and trim is beautiful and shows very little wear for its age. This car has served me well- its extremely reliable and has never left me stranded or done anything it wasn’t supposed to do. It is a part of the family and I’m sorry to see it go- but we decided to get a new ML Diesel (Ive been diesel obsessed since I was a kid) and we only have one parking space, so its time to sell. It will continue to be a great daily driver for some other family as Its dependable, safe, peppy, very competent at high speeds, flawless in the winter snow/ice and its utilitarian interior swallows anything you can put into it. The rear seats fold completely flat and a wide lift gate opening makes for easy loading of large items. There is a mesh cargo net that sets behind the front seats (when rear seats are folded down) or behind the rear seats when they are upright. This series M-Class set the bar for the luxury sport-ute category for both safety and technology. Most importantly, its equipped with ESP (electronic stability program), ABS (anti-lock brakes) and 4-ETS (Mercedes 4 wheel drive system with traction control) giving the car wonderful go anywhere capabilities. In addition, it has BAS (brake assist) and EBD (electronic brake force distribution); all combined gives this car technology that is still relevant and is the same foundation of new car systems today. The car has both driver and passenger front and side airbags and at that time, received a “Best Pick” in crash test safety from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The car is build like a tank. |

My year in EVs: 8 electrics that are changing the car industry
Wed, Dec 1 2021The year 2021 will go down as an inflection point in the auto industry’s transition to electric vehicles. It's when many much-anticipated models became reality. No longer sketches or sketchy prototypes, electric vehicles appeared from all corners with everything from the Lucid Air to Ford Mustang Mach-E changing how we think about transportation. I managed to drive a lot of them, and as I went through my notes, I realized IÂ’ve got a mini memoir of the seminal EVs of 2021. HereÂ’s my take on eight of them. Hummer EV Easily the most over-the-top EV I tested this year. The 1,000-hp super truck lived up to the hype with its domineering presence, stupendous power and simply being a reincarnated Hummer. I took it for a short spin on- and off-road at the General Motors Proving Grounds in Milford, Mich., and was impressed with the airy cabin, removable sky panels and expansive touchscreens. Yes, I crab walked, which felt like steering a pontoon boat, though I can see why it would be useful. Lucid Air Dream Performance The most beautiful sedan I tested all year, EV or otherwise. Unlike the futuristic Mercedes EQS — which is quite attractive — LucidÂ’s car is a blend of mid-century modern interior aesthetics and classic European exterior styling. When I walked up for my test drive, someone who IÂ’m pretty sure was comedian Jon Lovitz was sitting inside and taking it all in. As it sat in the valet of a hotel in a wealthy suburban enclave north of Detroit, the Lucid drew more attention than any of the Mercedes, Cadillacs or Lexus models passing by. The driving experience was enveloping. Starting at $169,000 for the Performance model (reservations are closed), the Lucid I sampled packed 1,111 hp and 471 miles of range. From the precise steering to the comfortable suspension, the dynamics were spot-on. It's a formidable product, and all the more impressive given itÂ’s LucidÂ’s first. Chevy Bolt EV The Bolt was the most pleasant surprise for me. It handled well, offered low-to-the-ground hot hatch dynamics and the steering was dialed-in. Adding a crossover variant for the new generation was a smart play. On a summer morning where I went to a first drive of the Ford Bronco at an off-road course, my hour-long commute in the Bolt was an enjoyable appetizer. The Bolt was also my biggest disappointment due to its extensive recalls for fire risk. Ironically, I had the Bolt in my driveway when the initial recall went out for the previous generation (2017-19).
Daimler exec hypothetically discusses 3-cylinder engines for small hybrids
Wed, Mar 26 2014Is three the magic number of cylinders for Mercedes-Benz parent Daimler and its efforts to build smaller powertrains for its compact hybrids? Potentially, yes, the German automaker could see the need for three-cylinder mills, Automotive News reports. The company doesn't have any plans for them as of yet, though. Daimler executive Bernhard Heil talked with Automotive News about the challenges of using four-cylinder engines in a front-wheel-drive setup and said that three-cylinder engines could work in transverse-mounted powertrains for hybrid cars. For now, though, the company doesn't actually have any plans to go in that direction, Mercedes-Benz spokesman Christoph Horn said in an e-mail to AutoblogGreen. Horn wrote that Heil "actually said that if ever MB would use a three-cylinder engine than [it would be] in a configuration where space is restricted, such as when using a hybrid power train in a compact car." Of course, the only compact "hybrid" that Mercedes-Benz has is the 2015 C-Class, but that refers to the "hybrid" body is made of 48-percent aluminum, up from the current nine percent, as well as steel. It has nothing to do with the powertrain. Beyond that, there's always the Mercedes-Benz S500 Plug-in Hybrid that the company unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show last fall, but that model, which will debut in Europe later this year and arrive stateside next year, has a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 and an 80-kilowatt electric motor that propels the plug-in from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 5.5 seconds. Not exactly three-cylinder territory, that.
