1998 Mercedes ML 320 Loaded All Records Excellent Condition

Hello, eBay peeps.

If you stumbled upon this auction and looking for an incredible SUV, read more about it! No two cars are alike.

And, if you are looking for a Mercedes you will want to own one that has been cared for with the records to back this up. You need to know what you are buying before making a decision.

Here are all of the reasons why you want to consider this one:

This was a one-owner car up to 2010 that was purchased for my wife. The vehicle came from the Carolina’s. All of the maintenance was recorded from 1998 to 2010, by Mercedes  and is on the car fax report. My wife and I drove the vehicle back from South Carolina. The ML320 had 141xxx miles.

Since then, the SUV has been meticulously maintained and we have all of the records.

Here are some of the reasons you want this one.

1.   The ML320 engine had to be replaced as it overheated on route to the airport last year.  The engine came from a 2000 E320 and only had 107xxx miles. It comes with a (transferrable 3 - year warranty and the record). The vehicle seems to run even quieter and faster than before.

2.   I have driven the ML over 800 miles and it purrs like a kitten, run cool and flawlessly. I also travel every three of six weeks and wanted to comment that this baby is very reliable and starts right up all of the time.

3.   Just completed the stringent Virginia Inspection and it has a new sticker.

4.   The radiator is new and an OEM replacement.

5.   All of the plugs and plug wires, etc. are new and were very expensive.

6.   New synthetic oil and filter changes along with OEM coolant replacement, completed during recent engine swap.

7.   Details of the service are available for review.

8.   The front matching tires are new with a warranty. The rear matching tires have plenty of tread remaining.

9.   Tie rod ends and/or anything else that was needed, were all done. All Wheel Drive.

Other extra’s to consider include:

1.   ML 320 all season mats.

2.   Heated seats.

3.   All leather seats have very little to no wear.

4.   Sunroof.

5.   Roof rack.

6.   All of the windows have been professionally tinted and makes the vehicle look better than most.

7.   Multi-CD Changer hidden in back.

8.   BOSE sound system.

9.   No accidents, no rust!

Only Quirks:

1.   The volume control knob on the BOSE radio is sensitive. Yet it works fine. New replacement knob is $75.00.

2.   The rear lower bumper has a small cover plate missing to cover up the tow hitch. I am looking for a matching cover. They are about $25.00

The reason we are offering the car is because it took time to find an engine and I had to get my wife another car to get to her job at the airport.  Now, I have a car payment.

This SUV was nice when we bought it, but now it is much more car than it ever was and looks and runs better than ever.  In 1998, the ML 320, was the SUV of the year.  One look and drive and you will see why. This is a fine example of a well-kept car! This baby will not disappoint and doubt you will find a better value anywhere. Someone is really going to enjoy her! They are quite a fun ride, too!

Five reasons to love, or hate, the culture of German cars

Thu, Mar 5 2015

A few months back, we took a 500-foot view of the culture of American cars, dissecting prides and prejudices on our way to the conclusion that automotive allegiances can be simultaneously embraced and derided. We had so much fun with the narrative that we decided to do it again, this time taking a look at Germany and its world-renowned lineup of automakers, including the likes of Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Volkswagen, among others. Join us below as we discuss the points and counterpoints that make or have made the German auto industry what it is today. And remember, Germany did pretty much invent the automobile, after all... The V12 Engine If America is known for the proliferation of the V8 engine, an argument could be made that Germany owns the V12. Yes, of course, other companies have created V12 engines – Ferrari, Jaguar and Lamborghini immediately come to mind – but the big 12-cylinder powerplants from BMW and Mercedes-Benz, in particular, have proven to be some of the most effortless, luxurious and downright over-built engines the world has ever seen. These days, having 12 cylinders is more a case of wretched excess than ever before, and yet, you can still stroll into your local BMW or Mercedes dealership and get a brand-new 760i, S600 or even an over-the-top G65 AMG, efficiency be damned. Best of all, since the majority of these German powerhouses depreciate as fast as an anchor sinks, nearly any auto enthusiast who dreams of a dozen cylinders can satisfy their carnal desires. Current Star: 2016 Mercedes-Maybach S600 View 28 Photos Diesel Engines Remember how we talked about those glorious V12 engines? Well, you can even get one from Audi that runs on diesel. If your compression-ignition fantasies err more on the side of fuel savings, that's no problem, either. Audi, BMW, Mercedes and Volkswagen have got you covered, with engines starting as small as 800 cubic centimeters (Smart Fortwo). If you want something a little more practical, it's hard to argue with a VW Golf TDI, which will provide plenty of space for you and three of your best friends, plus a fair bit of luggage, all while returning 50-ish miles per gallon. For the purposes of this discussion, we'd rather focus on the asinine levels of torque provided by Germany's high-end diesel engines than the lower-end fuel sippers.

Mercedes-Petronas AMG W04 launched to little fanfare, lots of pressure [w/video]

Tue, 05 Feb 2013

No indoor cocktail hour for the launch of the W04, the newest chassis built by the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One team. Instead, Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton spent a morning in photo and video sessions at the track in Jerez, Spain then paused a moment to introduce the car. The team will want the W04 to demonstrate the World Championship credentials of the team personnel and one of the team drivers, instead of the mostly humble performances we've seen over the past three years.
The W04 has been fitted with a new five-element front wing, pushrod front and pull-rod rear suspension, a second-generation Coanda exhaust and an "aggressively packaged" rear end. A small vanity panel, à la Infiniti Red Bull's RB9, covers the stepped nose.
Team principal Ross Brawn has called it "a clear step forward in design and detail sophistication," but as much as we truly respect Brawn's abilities and achievements, we heard him say similar things about the updated W03 last year before almost every race weekend from about mid-season. We really hope he's right this time, and so does the team's newest driver, Lewis Hamilton. We'll do our best to ignore the parallels of the Mercedes F1 team having signed a sponsorship deal with Blackberry, another company trying to find its way back to the top and still struggling, and just point you to the video below of the W04 in action.

The UK votes for Brexit and it will impact automakers

Fri, Jun 24 2016

It's the first morning after the United Kingdom voted for what's become known as Brexit – that is, to leave the European Union and its tariff-free internal market. Now begins a two-year process in which the UK will have to negotiate with the rest of the EU trading bloc, which is its largest export market, about many things. One of them may be tariffs, and that could severely impact any automaker that builds cars in the UK. This doesn't just mean companies that you think of as British, like Mini and Jaguar. Both of those automakers are owned by foreign companies, incidentally. Mini and Rolls-Royce are owned by BMW, Jaguar and Land Rover by Tata Motors of India, and Bentley by the VW Group. Many other automakers produce cars in the UK for sale within that country and also export to the EU. Tariffs could damage the profits of each of these companies, and perhaps cause them to shift manufacturing out of the UK, significantly damaging the country's resurgent manufacturing industry. Autonews Europe dug up some interesting numbers on that last point. Nissan, the country's second-largest auto producer, builds 475k or so cars in the UK but the vast majority are sent abroad. Toyota built 190k cars last year in Britain, of which 75 percent went to the EU and just 10 percent were sold in the country. Investors are skittish at the news. The value of the pound sterling has plummeted by 8 percent as of this writing, at one point yesterday reaching levels not seen since 1985. Shares at Tata Motors, which counts Jaguar and Land Rover as bright jewels in its portfolio, were off by nearly 12 percent according to Autonews Europe. So what happens next? No one's terribly sure, although the feeling seems to be that the jilted EU will impost tariffs of up to 10 percent on UK exports. It's likely that the UK will reciprocate, and thus it'll be more expensive to buy a European-made car in the UK. Both situations will likely negatively affect the country, as both production of new cars and sales to UK consumers will both fall. Evercore Automotive Research figures the combined damage will be roughly $9b in lost profits to automakers, and an as-of-yet unquantified impact on auto production jobs. Perhaps the EU's leaders in Brussels will be in a better mood in two years, and the process won't devolve into a trade war. In the immediate wake of the Brexit vote, though, the mood is grim, the EU leadership is angry, and investors are spooked.
