This 2012 G550 is the rarer Edition Select model - MSRP new $114,875 - at the Buy-It-Now price of $69,800 you are savings over $40K from new.  This is a one owner – accident and damage free G550 – sold and serviced at our Mercedes dealership. I have attached the Mercedes spec sheet showing the features and options on this beautiful black G550.

The original owner traded her black 2012 G550 with us on Saturday for a new Diamond White 2014 G550. She loved her G550 – however she wanted a color change !

This 2012 G550 has had absolutely no major issues of any kind in 77K miles – is ready to give the next owner years of trouble free driving .

The original owner is the mother of a noted professional athlete - with a strong family heritage in professional sports – and she drives across country to follow her son’s training and playing season.

This G550 is in stunning condition inside and out. I have provided 20 photos of this of the exterior and interior of this G550 in EXACT TRADE IN CONDITION as we received it in on Saturday – including shots of each exterior panel – again this is with no wash, no detailing, and no photo prep whatsoever.

I am a Mercedes AMG owner and 30 year Mercedes owner/enthusiast – and I am meticulous when it comes to grading the condition of a great Mercedes like this G550.

I believe in 100% accuracy - my eyes are your eyes – and again I am presenting this G550 in exact condition at traded in with no detailing work of any kind.

Mechanically I rate this G550 a 10 out of 10: The original owner has been strictly diligent with scheduled Mercedes maintenance with us – and our service department has been twice named by Mercedes in the Top 50 Best-Of-The-Best in the country – this is a rock solid G550 as proven by its service history with us.

Our service records show there have only been two very minor mechanical issues in 77K miles: at 54K the front wiper motor and windshield washer pump were replaced – and very early on at 6K miles the fuel tank sensor required replaced. There have been absolutely no other mechanical issues of any kind.

This G550 will be delivered with Mercedes 80K recommended service completed. Front brake pads and rotors were replaced recently at 67K miles. Rear brake pads and rotors will be inspected and serviced as necessary as part of the 80K service as well. Tires are recent Yokohama Geolanders – very solid highway tire choice for the G-Wagen – and all tires show over 85% remaining tread life and there no signs of any abnormal wear of any kind.

Exterior I rate this G550 a 9.5 out of 10: The photos show this is a stunning G550 that shines and glows like a new 2014. There are absolutely no signs of any unreported accidents or any body work of any kind. There are no dings or marks of any kind on any of the body panels. My 1/2 point deduction is for fewer than 12 minor pin-head size rock chips on the front hood lip and front air dam – normal road wear from a 2012 G550 – this G550 does not have any major road rash on the front air dam or hood that some might expect at this mileage.

Interior I rate this G550 a 9.8 out of 10: The Designo leather interior looks and feels as new. There are no rub or wear marks of any kind on the side bolsters of the front seats, front seat cushions are unwrinkled and smooth. The interior Piano Black wood is unmarked and no scratches of any kind. My 2/10 point deduction is realistic as compared to a fresh factory delivery - there are no specific interior items.

If you are not familiar with the new gen G-Wagen introduced in 2012 – the new gen is 2012/2013/2014 – and has significant improvements in interior refinement that include a re-sculpted dash and center console, relocated COMAND infotainment center screen, and the driver the cluster screen was upgraded to color and high resolution.

This new gen G-Wagen starting 2012 also has upgraded safety and driving systems to include: LED running lights, integral turn signals in the side mirrors, the Mercedes Distronic adaptive radar cruise control was made standard, the newest Mercedes blind spot alert was made standard, and starting in 2012 both the Parktronic front/rear sensor parking system and the rear view camera were upgraded to the newest Mercedes systems as well. Also for the new gen starting in 2012 - electronic trailer stability control was added for owner’s that plan to take advantage of the G-Wagen awesome towing capability.

The G550 has the rock solid Mercedes twin-turbo 550 V8 – which most Mercedes enthusiasts feel is the very best Mercedes production V8 ever – and starting in 2012 the 550 V8 is now matched with the newest Mercedes 7G+ transmission. With the new 7G+ transmission the 550 twin turbo delivers over 382 hp and over 391 ft lbs of torque to the wheels – and the 550/7G+ power train combination makes this new gen G-Wagen gives the smoothest and most impressive G-Wagen driving experience ever !

With MSRP new of $114,875 our dealership will list this G550 locally for over $75,000.

The Buy-It-Now price of $69,800 makes this G550 is a great opportunity for the discerning Mercedes G-Wagen enthusiast – who wants to own and drive a righteous and trouble free example of the newest generation G-Wagen.

The State of Arkansas does not charge sales tax to out-of-state buyers - our dealership’s $129 handling fee includes 30 day Arkansas temp tags and a full tank of fuel.  Your Out-The-Door price is $69,929.

A phone credit card deposit of $5000 will secure this G550 for you – the balance can be paid by wire transfer or verified cashier’s check – my Financing Department can assist if you are looking to finance part of the remaining balance on best available terms.

Geely wants to be a tech-sharing 'friend' of Daimler in $9B bet

Sat, Feb 24 2018

Chinese carmaker Geely has built up an almost 10-percent stake in Daimler in a $9 billion bet by its chairman that he can access the Mercedes-Benz owner's technology in the growing battle for the future of automotives. The purchase by Li Shufu, Geely's founder and main owner, means China's largest privately-owned automaker is now the biggest shareholder in Germany's Daimler. Geely said on Saturday there were no plans "for the time being" to raise the stake further. Instead, it will seek to forge an alliance with Daimler, which is developing electric and self-driving vehicles, to respond to the challenge from new competitors such as Tesla, Google and Uber. "No current car industry player is likely to win this battle against the invaders from outside without friends. To achieve and assert technological leadership, one has to adapt a new way of thinking in terms of sharing and combining strength. My investment in Daimler reflects this vision," Li said. "Daimler is pleased to announce that with Li Shufu it could win another long-term orientated shareholder, which is convinced by Daimler's innovation strength, strategy and future potential," the German company said in a statement. Geely officials plan to travel to Stuttgart to meet Daimler executives early next week and also hope to meet top German government officials in Berlin, two sources familiar with the matter told Reuters. The Chinese firm plans to use the meetings to underline that it intends to be a supportive long-term investor, they said. Daimler had no immediate comment on any meetings. Geely and the German economy ministry declined to comment. Chinese investors in German technology companies have tended to take a consensual approach, buying incremental stakes in companies such as robotics firms Kuka and Kion, typically after long consultation with management and other stakeholders. In November, Geely asked Daimler to issue new shares so it could buy a stake, as a way to access Mercedes-Benz technology for electric cars and trucks, including battery technology, to help Geely comply with a Chinese crackdown on pollution. But the German company turned down the offer saying it did not want to dilute existing shareholders, sources at the time told Reuters. Li changed tactics, and quietly amassed a stake of 9.69 percent worth $9 billion at Daimler's current share price.

Infiniti went out of its way to make the QX30 not a Mercedes

Thu, Mar 16 2017

You can complain all you want about perceived badge engineering when a company (like Mercedes-Benz) sells a platform to another brand (such as Infiniti). The reality is that most buyers won't know the difference, and they won't even realize their Infiniti is really a Mercedes underneath or that their neighbor's GLA has the same basic parts as the QX30 they just bought. What's weird to me isn't that sameness, but the places where the two cute little utes differ. These two vehicles, which are more like tall hatchbacks, use the same Mercedes 2.0-liter turbo four and seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Infiniti adds its own throttle and transmission calibrations. The suspension design is the same, although there are tuning differences. Both come standard with front-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive an option. Fuel economy matches for the FWD models, while the AWD Infiniti lags behind the Mercedes for some reason. So they're very similar despite their different looks. And design makes sense as a point of differentiation. Frankly, they go further than a lot of vehicles on shared platforms do – further, in fact, than the upcoming Nissan Navara-based Mercedes X-Class pickup does. The QX30 has its own sheetmetal and glass to separate it from the GLA-class. You probably think one looks better than the other. If you know where to look, the signs of sameness are obvious. Most major systems and pieces are shared, like the steering wheels (with different center covers), most switchgear, and things like interior and exterior door handles. Shared parts are fine as long as the parts are good ones. On that note, how many Tesla buyers realize their steering column and stalks, plus the window switches, come from Mercedes? And does that actually matter? We'd argue no. About those differences. Many are functional, like the fact the Infiniti does not carry over the Benz's Brake Hold feature Β– when you roll to a stop in the GLA (or any other Benz), pressing the brake pedal firmly applies the electric parking brake until you hit the gas to move again. The QX30 has an electric parking brake, but no Brake Hold feature. Someone used to driving Mercedes models will look a bit silly standing on the brake pedal to no effect. Ask us how we know. The Mercedes gauge package is carried over, but with the Infiniti font. Makes sense, although it's off-putting at first if you've seen the original, prompting a weird deja vu. Circular dash vents are replaced by rhomboid ones.

Why all of this year's F1 noses are so ugly [w/video]

Fri, 31 Jan 2014

If you're a serious fan of Formula One, you already know all about The Great Nosecone Conundrum of 2014. Those given to parsing each year's F1 regulations predicted the strong possibility of the so-called "anteater" noses as far back as early December 2013. Highly suggestive visual evidence first came after Caterham's crash test in early January, with further proof coming as soon as Williams showed a rendering of the FW36 challenger for this year's championship. That car earned a name that wasn't nearly so kind as "anteater."
Casual followers of the sport - or anyone who gets the feed from this site - probably don't know what's happening, except to wonder why the current year's F1 cars are led by appendages that would make Cyrano de Bergerac feel a whole lot better about himself.
The short answer to the question of ugsome F1 noses is "FIA regulations and safety." The reason there are various kinds of ugsome noses is simpler: engineers. The same boffins who have given us advances including carbon fiber monocoques, six-wheeled cars, double diffusers and Drag Reduction Systems are bred to do everything in their power to exploit every possible freedom in the regulations to make the cars they're building go faster - the caveat being that those advances have to work within the overall philosophy of the whole car.
