ebay does not recognize Europeans vins so the real vin is WDB46023017036951.This G Mercedes will be sold with clean and clear florida title.Import from Europe, left hand drive. Can be seen in sunny st pete florida.UNLIKE some other sellers here on Ebay,ALL my vehicles are sold WITH a clean and clear Florida title,NOT with a promise from a seller somewhere overseas in another country since I know for a fact, there are a few Gs on ebay that will NOT pass USA customs and WILL be seized and destroyed and your money is gone also, some where overseas.IF things sounds too good to be true,it probably is :-).Be careful, its a jungle out there :-),grass is always greener on the other side, make sure you check my 15 years on ebay and my perfect feedback with never a negative, thank you. Pauls Haus of G and other imports offers: A very fun, cool and rare 300GD pickup truck, built for offroading. He does fine on the road also :-).Mercedes developed this G long time ago as a prototype for a couple of countries in Africa for the military.I guess it didn't happen, never saw one again.Well, now its here in my lot in sunny st pete florida.Ready for a mudbog or up north ready for snow, ice and sleet :-).Its has leather seats, which im sure where put in later. Its ready to go as it is but will need a few things to make it 100%.Not in the photos, truck will come with a grill but a winch can be easily mounted on the winch bumper also BUT grill AND winch wont fit,its either or.Unless your handy enough to adapt the grill,or the winch bumper, and I would adapt the winchbumper to fit the grill AND the winch :-).Its a steel bumper, easy to work on.I do have a brandnew winch with wireless remote,8000 pounds, still in box, that im willing to sell to the highest bidder for $ 250,-. Truck is a 300GD with the 5 cylinder 3 liter non turbo diesel, non ac with a 4 speed manual transmission.New battery, smokes a lil when starts up,typical Mercedes but gets less when warmed up.Truck has a heavy duty tow package, you just need to change the ball size. Driveline is somewhat noisy when u let the gas loose, nothing mayor. There are some parts missing like seatbelts, interior light, ingition (you start with a switch in the dash),hood cable, couple of small dash pieces, window cranks and inside doorhandles.I have that all on order and will be given with the truck, unmounted aka you mount:-)The cab is plain steel on the inside so it resonates all sounds, you might wanna rhinoline it or put some special insulation in it. The rear window is removable if it gets too hot.The fuel tank is bullet proof one.Fuel gauge and temp gauge don't work.Spare tire is leak.Truck will be sold with a clean and clear fla title,it has run 122000km roughly 76000 miles and the tires are brandnew.Engine purrs like a kitten and transmission shift quitly.Clutch works fine, all lights work except tag light and turn signals, the big lights and rear roof/work light all work.Next to no rust on this truck.A few small scratches and dents,i call it patina :-).I have not checked the wipers so assume they are not working and there is no radio. It does have powersteering. Sold as is where is ,no warranties intended or implied, feel free to come over and check it out.No joy rides.Better hurry before this cool G is gone :-). Get this ultimate 4x4 before YOU are stuck.:-) NO reserve, cheapest G in the USA and for sure the coolest and rarest. You will be the only one and driveline parts are old school, similar to the 300SDs and 300TDs so very easy and affordable to come by and it does 30+ miles to the gallon and its very easy and cheap to put a turbo on this G model if you wish a lil more torq and HP. NO RESERVE AUCTION,HIGH BIDDER WINS,NO DEALER FEES. $500 non refundable deposit within one hour of auction ends, balance to be paid within 3 working days, storage free for as long as you need. Its also advertised locally so I reserve the right to take it off ebay at any given moment. Aston wants to build DBX on its new platform, not Mercedes'
Mon, May 18 2015Aston Martin is proceeding with plans to launch the DBX as its first production crossover. It just can't say at this point what it will be based on. Speaking with Automotive News Europe, Aston's new CEO Andy Palmer indicated that basing the DBX on a Mercedes SUV platform would not be its first choice because they "clearly sit in a very different space to the one we want to go" with the DBX. Instead, the company's first choice would be to build the crossover atop the new platform it's developing for its sports cars. "It just depends how high off the ground it could go," said Palmer. "I don't exclude the possibility of using some [Mercedes] parts, but I would say very much the primary route is our platform." The prospect of building an Aston SUV on Mercedes architecture – namely that of the GL-Class – has been on the table for some time now. The Lagonda SUV concept it showcased at the Geneva show in 2009 was based on the GL, and the two automakers have been forging a tightening alliance in the years since. The British automaker's next-generation engine is to be built by Mercedes-AMG, and it is expected to source other components from the German automaker as well. For its part, Mercedes has been taking a sportier approach with its latest crossovers, as demonstrated by the GLE Coupe that debuted before the more conventional version and the Concept GLC Coupe that previewed the GLK's replacement in Shanghai last month. Aston Martin, on the other hand, is building a new sports car platform that will underpin its next generation of luxury GTs, replacing the long-serving VH architecture that has served for decades as the basis for its entire model line. Perhaps the most surprising of ANE's report, though, is that Aston seems to be proceeding with plans to build the DBX apparently without even knowing what platform it will use.
New Mercedes-Benz pickup to be called GLT?
Fri, Apr 17 2015The Mercedes-Benz pickup will allegedly be called the GLT, and it won't be "a fat cowboy truck." That's according to the head of MB's truck project, former AMG boss Volker Mornhinweg, quoted by Car. We already knew that Mercedes would be teaming up with Renault-Nissan for its double-cab pickup, but until Car sat down with Mornhinweg, we were unsure of how the vehicle would be targeted. Aside from being neither fat nor cowboy like, the exec shed some light on the German brand's mindset behind the new truck. "We are not going to develop a fat cowboy truck for North America. After all, the big three – Ford, GM/GMC and Ram – already own about 90 percent of that market which typically absorbs in excess of two million units per year," Mornhinweg told Car. "In this cutthroat environment, newcomers like us would invariably fight an arduous uphill battle. That's why our focus is on a smaller and lighter pick-up truck which is already perceived as premium product in South America, Africa and the Middle East." While Mornhinweg wasn't the one to let slip on the new Mercedes truck's name, Car reports that it will wear the GLT badge. There's no mention of where the publication came up with that title, though, aside from "rumors." We've reached out to Mercedes-Benz for comment on the truck's name, and should they get back to us, we'll be sure to update this post. A car writer's year in new vehicles [w/video]
Thu, Dec 18 2014Christmas is only a week away. The New Year is just around the corner. As 2014 draws to a close, I'm not the only one taking stock of the year that's we're almost shut of. Depending on who you are or what you do, the end of the year can bring to mind tax bills, school semesters or scheduling dental appointments. For me, for the last eight or nine years, at least a small part of this transitory time is occupied with recalling the cars I've driven over the preceding 12 months. Since I started writing about and reviewing cars in 2006, I've done an uneven job of tracking every vehicle I've been in, each year. Last year I made a resolution to be better about it, and the result is a spreadsheet with model names, dates, notes and some basic facts and figures. Armed with this basic data and a yen for year-end stories, I figured it would be interesting to parse the figures and quantify my year in cars in a way I'd never done before. The results are, well, they're a little bizarre, honestly. And I think they'll affect how I approach this gig in 2015. {C} My tally for the year is 68 cars, as of this writing. Before the calendar flips to 2015 it'll be as high as 73. Let me give you a tiny bit of background about how automotive journalists typically get cars to test. There are basically two pools of vehicles I drive on a regular basis: media fleet vehicles and those available on "first drive" programs. The latter group is pretty self-explanatory. Journalists are gathered in one location (sometimes local, sometimes far-flung) with a new model(s), there's usually a day of driving, then we report back to you with our impressions. Media fleet vehicles are different. These are distributed to publications and individual journalists far and wide, and the test period goes from a few days to a week or more. Whereas first drives almost always result in a piece of review content, fleet loans only sometimes do. Other times they serve to give context about brands, segments, technology and the like, to editors and writers. So, adding up the loans I've had out of the press fleet and things I've driven at events, my tally for the year is 68 cars, as of this writing. Before the calendar flips to 2015, it'll be as high as 73. At one of the buff books like Car and Driver or Motor Trend, reviewers might rotate through five cars a week, or more. I know that number sounds high, but as best I can tell, it's pretty average for the full-time professionals in this business.
