2005 Mercedes Benz Clk 500 2 Door on 2040-cars

Year:2005 Mileage:47000
Location:

Thousand Oaks, California, United States

Thousand Oaks, California, United States

My family has owned this Mercedes for about 3 years. My Dad bought it for my Mom as a birthday gift. However, he was a bit hopeful because she was 83 then and really didn't drive much, so she put very few miles on the car. Unfortunately, my Mom is 86 and  in poor health now and can't drive any longer, so we have decided to sell the car.

The car is in excellent condition.  It has it's original silver paint and black interior.  I will try to describe carefully the various aspects of the car as accurately as possible.

Body--Excellent  condition, no dents or dings.  There has never been any damage to the car during our ownership.  My Dad was told by the previous owner that the car is all original and has never been subject to any damage.

Paint--The paint is in excellent condition  The only flaws I could find were a couple of very small scratches  but they were small enough to where they would not show up in the photos when I tried to photograph them.  We have been told that the scratches could be polished out.

Tires- Tires are in very good condition.  They look like they have about 75% of tread left on them.

Wheels- The car has chrome AMG wheels which are in very nice condition.  I didn't notice any unusual wear on them and the finish on the chrome is very nice

Interior- The interior on the car is also in excellent condition.  No rips, tears or scuffs.  The only flaw I could find was that the cigarette lighter is missing.  My Mom and Dad don't smoke.  The interior smells fresh, so it seems that no one has ever smoked in the car.

Mechanicals- The car runs and drives like a new car.  It basically does everything that its supposed to do.  The engine/transmission sound and feel good.  The brakes work well and stop the car properly.  All of the switches and controls work properly on the car.  The car has it's original owners manual in excellent condition.  The sunroof is a nice feature and it works perfectly.

Conclusion- So that's about it.  In closing I will just say that I feel confident that the new owner will be getting a truly excellent example of a Mercedes CLK 500 in this car.  That said, my Dad told me that since it's a used car, I have to include that the car is sold "as is and with all faults."

All the best and good luck bidding :)

Paul di Resta returns to DTM with Mercedes

Tue, 21 Jan 2014

Some drivers manage to make the transition from one form of motor racing into another, and some run into trouble. Take Paul di Resta, for example. The promising young Scottish driver dominated Formula 3 racing in Europe in 2006, then moved over to Germany's hugely competitive DTM touring car series where he finished second in 2008, third in 2009 and first in 2010. But things didn't go as smoothly for Paul - cousin to retired Indy champion Dario Franchitti - when he moved in to Formula One with the Force India team.
In three years on the grid, he failed to score a single podium finish. Little surprise, then, that Force India opted not to renew his contract for this season. Left without a ride, di Resta is now going back to DTM with longtime supporter Mercedes-Benz, testing the new C-Class touring car today in Portugal. It's good news for Mercedes, which is celebrating 120 years in motor racing this season and, with 2005 champion Gary Paffett also on board, can now count two former champions on its DTM roster.
We wouldn't count Paul out of F1 for good, though. When he won the DTM title four years ago, he was also moonlighting as Force India's test driver, and we wouldn't be surprised to see him pull similar double-duty with the Mercedes F1 team (or another Benz-powered outfit) this year before spring-boarding back into grand prix racing in the future. At 27 years old, he may not have been the youngest driver on the grid this year, but he's still got a good few years ahead of him.

2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S 4Matic [w/video]

Wed, 20 Feb 2013

Maybe you saw our recent blog snippet on a bunch of US journos getting pulled over in the middle of nowhere in Catalunya, Spain for driving a bunch of new 2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG models. By all accounts, they weren't speeding - which makes me softly guffaw. I was there in that group, yet I had taken the more direct route into the mountains from Barcelona so that I could... well, so that I could go faster. No one hassled me and I had the Autovia all to myself. And it was the goodniks - the team players - who got nabbed because Spain had decided to suddenly enforce the never enforced "must carry an international driver's license" clause of the highway code.
The departing E63 AMG with 518 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque from its M157 5.5-liter biturbo V8 hasn't exactly been poorly received. It isn't as crisp as, nor as pleasantly evil as its C63 AMG kid brother, but we generally accept that the heavier and larger car will always feel, well, heavier and larger.
As part of the 2014 E-Class mid-cycle redesign, Affalterbach decided to give its E63 AMG more power and torque for the occasion. The base car now gives off 550 hp and 531 lb-ft, while the hotter S version I tested (formerly the AMG Performance Pack) produces 577 hp and 590 lb-ft. The other big novelty is that E63 sedans will be available with both rear- and all-wheel drive, while all US-spec E63 wagons will be 4Matic equipped.

New Die Hard movie wrecked 132 cars in $11 million chase scene [w/video]

Sat, 16 Feb 2013

It would seem the act of dying hard brings with it lots of wanton destruction of the four-wheeled kind. According to John Moore, director of A Good Day To Die Hard, starring Bruce Willis, There were 132 (cars) that could never be used again. Another 518 required a lot of work. And damn right there were some good cars there... That's the fun of it."
Please join us in one great big collective sigh. Done? Okay, let's continue.
"With Die Hard it's about how audacious the action is," says Moore. "So you have to drive over a Lamborghini. An actual one. And yes it hurts me. I'm a car fanatic." Yeah. Sounds like it hurt really bad... though not as bad as the final tally after all the carnage had been counted: "Someone showed me the numbers on the car chase and soup to nuts, you put it all together it was like an $11 million sequence."
