You want a boatload of horsepower, rare color/options, and the status of an S-class coupe? You’re in the right place! How about 493 V8 supercharged horsepower in a two-door luxury cruise missile? It’s like piloting a warp-drive rocket that travels on the highways of planet Earth. And how about buying a great condition CL55 at more than a $100K discount from its original MSRP?!? This is a gorgeous 2004 Mercedes CL55 AMG coupe, in fantastic condition inside, outside, and mechanically. Never any accidents, all original body panels and paint, and most importantly TONS of good service history at the Mercedes dealer. This car was serviced regularly, garaged, and it shows. It needs nothing but a new owner, and looks/drives like a brand new car. Very rare alabaster white over java leather, and loaded up with options that are very rare on a CL55: distronic cruise control, parktronic, keyless go, trunk closer, and more. Of course the usual COMAND DVD navigation, heated/ventilated front seats, AMG sport package, steering wheel shift buttons, and much more. -- Here is your next car! --
Please let me stop you now if you are looking for a cheap CL55. Trust me, there is nothing more expensive on this earth than a cheap AMG-series Mercedes. Some of these cars have been neglected, leak, need ABC work, rattle, and generally need expensive repairs. It’s easy to buy one for $25K and then put $8K or more into it in the 1st year of ownership. Not this one! IMPORTANT: Multiple complete inspections have been done. The car is truly ready to go, and does NOT need expensive repairs like many of them out there. NO HIDDEN PROBLEMS. Ask the other sellers you are considering buying from for references from their last twenty five 600 and AMG-series Benz customers. Guess what? You won’t get anyone that is willing/able to do that except for me!
Here's the deal:
-- It's a 2004 CL55 AMG V8 Kompressor coupe in alabaster white over java leather, root burlwood trim, and tan carpets/headliner. It has only 62,xxx original miles, looks like a million bucks, and drives like a million bucks too! These photos are all taken after a wash and vacuum. No detailing of ANY kind yet! –
-- Exterior 9 out of 10 (I'm finicky) – Very nice overall condition paint, body, glass, and trim. No dings, no scuffs, some surface scratches/rock chips but most of those will come out and/or be touched up in detailing. This car looks great, with a deep shine to the glossy white paint that's like looking into a mirror. This car looks great even under fluorescent light in a garage, and will look amazing after detailing. --
-- This CL55 has never had any accidents, and wears all its original body panels and bumpers. Clean carfax as well and NO title issues. Lower side-body moldings are in great shape. Chrome, rubber, glass, trim is all very nice. No oxidation, fade, wear, rust, etc. Headlights and windshield are clear as well.--
-- Look at the body panels.....they are perfectly straight. --
-- The OEM AMG five-star staggered 18” alloy wheels are true with some minor curb rash. The tires are pretty much worn out. At the buy-it-now price, I will mount and balance a brand new set of Continental Extreme Contact DWS A/S tires in staggered 245/45/18 and 275/40/18 sizes. This CL55 drives straight as an arrow at any speed you choose. --
-- Interior 9 out of 10 - The interior overall including all seating and door leather, seat padding, dash, console, and carpets are in great condition. No carpet rips, and very little wear of any kind on the leather (driver’s bolster shows very little wear too which in these cars is very rare). Everything looks and feels great. None of the usual broken storage compartments, missing cup-holders, etc.--
-- The door panels and wood trim are also in nice shape, like the rest of the car. --
- Even the trunk and spare are mint. --
-- This car is loaded including heated/cooled front seats, dynamic drive pulse/active front seats, AMG Package, COMAND navigation, parking sensors, distronic cruise control, trunk closer, moonroof, bi-xenon headlights, keyless go, and more. It even has the power rear sunshade. --
src="http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc266/brucem105/2002s60082k/dynamic.jpg">
-- There’s even high-quality 3M aftermarket tint on the windows. --
-- Electrical 10 out of 10 - All lights, switches, radio, windows, wipers, seat motors/memory, and power mirrors work perfectly. Headrest motors, vacuum lock system, etc. all operating properly. The HVAC system is fast to respond, and perfect with hot heat and ice-cold A/C. --
--Mechanically 10 out of 10 - Engine starts, idles, runs, and revs to redline in every gear smooth and strong. Transmission is smooth yet aggressive, and downshifts eagerly. This CL55 runs at high speed with no vibrations or noises. There are no leaks. --
-- Engine is strong and VERY eager to run, transmission smooth and ready to drop down two gears at your command to rocket you past slower traffic. When you floor the throttle in this car, you’d better be prepared to arrive where the car is pointing RIGHT NOW. Brakes are solid and pedal feel is firm. Suspension is tight like new, but floats like on a cloud just like an ABC-equipped Benz is supposed to do. Steering nicely weighted with no play in the box. This car drives and handles like new. --
-- This car has all its books, two working remote keys, and ALL warranty service history. It has a clean carfax which will be provided to the new owner. It’s undergone multiple inspections; one cosmetic, the other two mechanical/electrical/body/frame. You name it, it’s been looked at! With only 62K miles, it’s not even broken in yet. All you have to do is drive. --
-- If someone selects the buy-it-now option, I will provide the following: the new Continental tires mentioned above, Mobil 1 synthetic oil change, new wiper blades, a full $200 detailing including engine bay, carpet shampoo, leather conditioning, orbital polishing, etc. I'll also include Mercedes OEM carpeted floor mats, and ToughGuard paint protectant. This stuff is simply amazing for durability, as it will last up to five YEARS. Dealers charge up to $695 for this stuff! That’s nearly $2000 in value all included at the BIN price! Scare yourself right out of your underwear when you hit the gas. Wow! --
-- Nits: Some minor scratches/chips from being on the road, and THAT'S IT. NOTHING ELSE. And if I did not mention those, it's unlikely anyone would even notice...I just want to be up front and honest. --
-- I have good feedback, and sold many Audis, Acuras, and Benzes that the new owners are thrilled with. They and others have offered to act as references to verify that I am honest in my descriptions of the cars I sell, and you are welcome to contact them. --

The idea of producing large, luxury-vehicle hybrids is turning into a "what were they thinking?" exercise in futility, USA Today reports. General Motors is discontinuing hybrid versions of the Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon SUVs, while Mercedes-Benz and Toyota's Lexus division are doing the same with their S-Class hybrid and LS hybrid sedans, respectively. The culprit? Big price increases for fuel economy improvements that border on the unimpressive. Granted, the Escalade hybrid gets 31 percent better fuel economy than the standard version, but that still maps out to a combined fuel-efficiency rating of just 21 miles per gallon. That can be seen as a worthwhile increase, if it didn't cost over $8,000 extra. The 2014 Escalade Hybrid, for example, starts at $74,425 while the non-hybrid can be had for $66,295. Meanwhile, the Lexus full-size hybrid costs $6,000 more than the regular version but only gets 1-2 mpg better combined fuel economy. The result of all these high costs? Low sales. Through April, GM sold 82 of its hybrid SUVs and pickups, down from 541 a year earlier. And the LS hybrid sales were in single-digit territory for April. That isn't stopping Lexus from promoting its hybrids as the right solution (with the wrong facts), though. There are still automakers giving big hybrid vehicles a shot, though. Nissan's Infiniti division is selling a hybrid version of its QX60 and says an impressive 10 percent of QX60 buyers choose the hybrid, which costs just $3,000 more. Looks like money talks. The Internet has shrunk the world in terms of the way people communicate by making it possible to send an email from Oslo and have it show up in Cleveland almost immediately. But that instant contact has wrecked the work/life balance for many. They get home from a long day at the office, yet they can never fully put their feet up and relax because another hour or more of checking and replying to emails awaits. However, German automotive giant Daimler is putting an end to that churn, at least while its employees are on vacation. About 100,000 Daimler employees in Germany are eligible to opt-in to a new program called Mail on Holiday, according to The Atlantic. When the workers go on vacation, they can switch it on, and the service auto-deletes all of their incoming email. "Our employees should relax on holiday and not read work-related emails," said Wilfried Porth, board member for human resources, to The Financial Times as cited by The Atlantic. Mail on Holiday puts a thumb on the scale of work/life balance in favor of a little more free time. The system means that Daimler employees shouldn't even be tempted to check their email on vacation because there's nothing there - and it also avoids them coming back from a relaxing holiday only to find a mailbox packed full of hundreds of unread messages. These days, people are absolutely obsessed with their work, often to the detriment of their health, not to mention spending time with their families and friends. On one hand, Mail on Holiday sounds like the sort of vacation breakthrough we'd need to truly unplug and unwind, but on the other hand, it makes our skin crawl just thinking about the lack of communication. What's your perspective? Have your say in Comments.

The three brief Formula 1 tests ahead of the current season belied how much had gone on since the last race in November: Infiniti subbed out for Tag Heuer, Renault is back, the all new Haas F1 team, a revamped Manor, three brand new drivers and two returning drivers, a raft of regulation changes among the newly tilled soil. The four engine manufacturers spent a combined 67 tokens among the 138 in the kitty, Renault using just seven of their 32. The only conclusive proof to come from the annual intermission was the otherworldly capability of Mercedes-AMG Petronas. The Silver Arrows didn't even try the super- and ultra-soft tires, focusing on reliability instead of speed. The result? They ran more than 19 race distances, obliterating the lap totals of every other team. There are certainly a few people who enjoyed the complicated new rolling-elimination qualifying format fast-tracked to approval just a few weeks ago. They were wildly outnumbered by those who thought it was awful, including the same team heads who voted for it. We'd probably have to go back to the debacle at the 2005 Indianapolis Grand Prix for an equivalent fiasco when Michelin pulled its teams over safety fears, leaving six cars out of 20 to qualify. In Australia, within 24 hours of the conclusion of qualifying, the new format had itself been eliminated. Nevertheless, qualifying also taught us what didn't happen over the winter: any other team progressing enough to outduel Mercedes. After admitting that he dropped off after winning the championship last year, then getting questioned in the press for some dubious off-season activities, Lewis Hamilton proved he can still turn it on when he wants to. The Brit smoked the Albert Park track in 1:23.837, more than three-tenths of a second ahead of teammate Nico Rosberg in second place. Ferrari did make strides during the off-season, but only enough to keep the same gap it had to Mercedes last year: Sebastian Vettel lined up third, a half-second behind Rosberg, teammate Kimi Raikkonen another four-tenths back in fourth place. Max Verstappen said Toro Rosso is the best of the rest, the Dutchman taking fifth place in front of Felipe Massa for Williams in sixth and Toro Rosso teammate Carlos Sainz in sixth. Daniel Ricciardo – who wasn't smiling after qualifying – kept Red Bull and its new "Tag Heuer" engines in the conversation with eighth on the grid.
