The CL65 AMG is a 4750lb two-door with a twelve-pot twin-turbo motor and enough power (604hp) and torque (738 ft-lbs. @ 2 – 4000 rpm) to reverse the planet's rotation. With so much twist underfoot, the CL's luxo-coupe forward progress is infinitely serene; you can arrive at your destination without the slightest clue how you got there. Or, roll down all four windows for a big-bore, quad-tip exhaust experience not available since the Nixon administration. Depress your right shoe at anything more than quarter-throttle and the ESP traction control light starts blinking Morse code: your… license… is… in… grave… danger… The CL 65 AMG lays down the grunt like a big-block Chevelle on Mickey Thompsons. The stats say zero to sixty takes four point five second of your time, but the truth is you're gone almost before you start. Close the glass, get your speed on and the sound insulation, aerodynamics and massive weight remove all sensation of speed. A glance at the speedometer is your only indication that a police helicopter may be struggling to reach your 10-20. The AMG was my fair weather, summer thrill ride. It has been meticulously maintained, never in an accident, and always garaged with a custom fitted car cover (included with sale). This Mercedes-Benz is in excellent condition. I have all records of service/maintenance. It is in excellent condition, an absolute thrill to drive...a must have experience. This baby will pull down a house! 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class revealed again in 1:18 scale
Fri, 10 May 2013There is plenty to look forward to when it comes to the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, but it could end up being a fairly anticlimactic reveal thanks to fully exposed spy shots, a leaked press photo and now images of a diecast version of the luxury sedan. Autoweek.nl has images showing a highly detailed 1:18 scale model of the redesigned S-Class that matches up with everything we've seen so far.
This isn't the first time a model car spoiled a new vehicle's reveal, as the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class and 2013 SRT Viper were both unceremoniously revealed in toy form first. World Car Fans is reporting that the car 2014 S-Class will be officially unveiled on May 15, but at this point, all that's left to wonder about is the official on-sale date and what will be under the hood.

Wed, Nov 8 2017The all-new 2018 Lincoln Navigator is an impressive, luxury-lined beast. However, while its Black Label interior stood out most during our first drive of the new Navigator, it also seemed pretty clear that much of this full-size SUV was superior to the competition in a number of fundamental ways. Its Raptor-sourced 3.5-liter V6 had class-leading power for one, and its third-row seat seemed as spacious and comfortable as its rivals' are cramped and barely usable. To search for your next new vehicle, try Autoblog' s Car Finder. Yet, I wanted to take a closer look at how the Navigator fully compares on paper to its competitors - especially the Cadillac Escalade with which it most directly competes. The below spreadsheet should tell the whole story, but as you can see, there's an awful lot of class-leading green highlighter in the Navigator's column. The cargo volume and third-row legroom numbers are particularly telling, with the latter actually going up to 42.3 inches when you slide the second-row fully forward. Now, a few things to note about the above spreadsheet. The GLS-Class is also available as the GLS 550, which boasts a 4.7-liter V8 that just comes up short to the Navigator with 449 horsepower but has to deal with only 5,578 pounds. Its $94,950 price tag is comparable to the Navigator Black Label. Much of the LX 570's information is also applicable to the Toyota Land Cruiser, which, badge aside, could certainly be considered a member of this segment given its feature content and still-hefty price tag. It has better ground clearance and approach/departure angles than its Lexus sibling, along with an as-indicated lower price. Much of the Escalade's information also applies to the GMC Yukon Denali, while the Infiniti QX80 is applicable to the Nissan Armada. VW, Fiat, Mercedes could be CNG winners in Europe
Fri, Dec 12 2014Fiat ads in the US try to play up the exotic, sexy side of Italian culture. On the home front in Italy, however, passenger-vehicle sales are marked by something less edgy and quite a bit more practical: the growth of compressed-natural-gas (CNG) powered car sales. In fact, Italy is leading a group of European countries where CNG sales are on the upswing and may be benefiting automakers like VW, Fiat and Mercedes-Benz, according to Automotive News. VW started sales of its Golf TGI natural-gas vehicle this year – the company's fourth in Europe – while Mercedes-Benz added a natural-gas B-class model. Fiat accounts for about 50 percent of CNG vehicles sold on the continent. In all, Europe's CNG sales through September totaled about 67,000, up seven percent from a year earlier, Automotive News Europe says, citing research firm JATO Dynamics. And the number of CNG vehicles on Europe's roads could jump tenfold within the next decade. The draw is a combination of lower refueling prices and a CNG drivetrain that typically emits less CO2 than diesel vehicles. As for Italy, about five percent of new-vehicle sales are CNG. To put that into perspective, hybrids, battery-electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids and diesels combined to account for about 4.2 percent of US vehicle sales last year.
