Here's a 1998 Mercedes Benz C280 Sport. This little gem is up for sale due to our irrational over-exuberance in the child production department. Three kiddo boosters just don't fit in the back seat of a C series Merc.
She's black with black MB-Tec interior. The front seats are heated, and it has climate control. The heat and AC work great. All four windows have power automatic up and down, and the sunroof can tilt or go in the roof. The rear view mirror auto-dims, and the side mirrors are heated. Two keys, both are key-less entry remotes. Factory Mercedes floor mats all around.
She has a 5 speed automatic with winter and summer modes, traction control, anti-lock brakes, front and side air bags, and the sport suspension. It has a full size spare, and the original toolkit is complete down to the pair of gloves so you don't get dirty if you have to change a flat. It even has the original first aid kit. It has a factory traction lock rear axle. The engine is a 2.8 liter V6 with 18 valves. We average 27 MPG on midgrade.
The car comes with three sets of wheels - the original 16 inch Mercedes Benz aluminum wheels with all season tires, around 50% tread. The car is currently wearing aftermarket Tire Rack 16 inch aluminum rims with summer tires, 80% tread. We also have a set of 15 inch Mercedes Benz steel winter tires, with 80% tread.
Known problems - the headliner is missing on the sunroof shade, and the headliner is drooped slightly in the middle behind the sunroof - see the pictures. We left the roof open in the rain once. There are two deep door dings, one on the driver's door and one on the trunk. There are three surface rust spots on the passenger front door. The airbag light occasionally turns on and off for no apparent reason.
This little gem will provide you with years of happy Mercedes motoring. Contact me with any questions, if you need more pictures, or want to see the vehicle in person.
Delivery in the midwest is negotiable on top of final price. Lower 48 USA sales only, cash or certified check only. $500 holds the car for a week, balance due when you pick her up.

2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA250 Sport
Wed, 06 Mar 2013Mercedes Makes A Mighty Little Sedan
We got overexcited when the W203 Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan came out in 2001, calling it the "Baby Benz" when it really wasn't. We knew that, too, but our enthusiasm for a model more like the old 190 of the '80s was so strong that we were willing to stretch the first-gen C-Class to fit that mold. Today, the C-Class has done what all German premium cars do: grown in size. In this case, grown to satisfy the market intentions of the previous E-Class.
There was the tall A-Class sold from 1998 through 2010, but we never considered that a serious small Benz in the proper spirit, nor was it ever offered in the US. Regardless, we've been craving a smaller, premium, sexy sedan all the while.
2013 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG
Fri, 22 Feb 2013Make way for the 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG, the most wonderfully preposterous car I have ever driven.
There is absolutely no reason why any two-seat roadster should be fitted with a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V12 developing 621 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque, but I sure am glad that Mercedes-Benz doesn't see things that way.
Drop into the leather-lined cockpit of this $213,145 provocateur, floor the accelerator pedal as I did over and over again, and 60 miles per hour falls in a traction-limited 3.9 seconds. Top speed has been electronically held to 186 mph (this apparently saves Gulfstream jet owners from embarrassment). Forget the SL550 and SL63 AMG, the valets will trip over themselves attending to the tycoon driving this thoroughbred - it's the real deal.
Henrik Fisker interview, and driving the Polestar 2 | Autoblog Podcast #643
Thu, Sep 3 2020In this week's Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Senior Editor, Green, John Beltz Snyder. They've been driving the updated 2021 Honda Odyssey, the 2020 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 and the new Polestar 2 electric sedan. After reviewing those, they talk about how the Chrysler 300 appears to be withering on the vine. Next, they take time to talk to legendary automotive designer and eponymous Chairman & CEO of Fisker Inc., Mr. Henrik Fisker himself, about jeans, horses and, of course, electric cars. Finally, they help a listener pick a $100,000 supercar in the "Spend My Money" segment.
