1972 Mbz 600 California Pullman With Factory Divider, Moonroof, orig Blue Plate on 2040-cars
Fresno, California, United States
1972 Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman.
Here is a real find; an unrestored, sold new, and lived all its' life in California MBZ 600 LWB. This car even has its' original California issued blue license plates, we were able to peel back the yearly registration stickers which went back to its' 1974 first registration sticker. The car is rust free and solid, the floors have no rust. Even the area behind the rear wheels that are prone to rust on the best of these cars is original and rust free. The car looks to have had one older repaint. The car starts easily, sounds good and idles well and does not smoke. The car goes through the gears and the brakes stop the car. We purchased the car around five years ago, and since then had the plugs wires, distributor cap and dual points changed; the gas tank and lines were cleaned and we replaced the fuel injection unit (from renowned Pacific Fuel Injection in San Francisco). We also replaced all four suspension bags (purchased from Mercedes Benz Classic Center in Irvine CA.....supposedly the last few left). The tachometer, speedometer/odometer, gauges and dash lights work...the gas gauge does not work. The exterior lights/turn signals work. The interior courtesy lights and glove box light work; the ambient temperature gauge works. The clock and radio do not work. The heating & a/c will need to be checked/serviced. The interior is original, the seats have normal wear and have never been refinished/dyed. Overall the car is original/ un-restored and is in such condition. The hydraulic system that controls the windows, center divider, moon-roof, cowl vent and trunk all work. In the past when we installed the air bags, the rear of the car would go up and stay up, the front bags would go up and after about three days go down to half height and stay there. Right now, the air bags fill with air but the car does not rise above the level as seen in the pictures. The tires that the car had been sitting on had a lot of tread but were old and dry cracked, so to avoid any complications/issues we just installed a brand new set of tires....the spare is still a BF Goodrich polyester tubeless tire. In California, vehicles over ten years old are exempt from mileage disclosures. However, as you can see the mileage on the odometer shows 27,489; on the driver doorjamb there is a sticker from the mid seventies that says that odometer was repaired and replaced at 50,865. So, we can assume the car has been driven at least a combination of those two amounts. If you have any questions other than "what's your reserve/buy it now price", you are welcome to contact us through ebay; or call my cell# 559-801-8623 anytime between 10am-6pm PST (California time; please calculate time difference, if any, before calling). Thanks, Bill. This vehicle is sold as-is and as equipped. However, you are welcome to come see and/or have the car inspected before the end of the auction. Payment is due in full within seven days of the end of the auction. California buyers and all in-state sales are subject to sales tax, doc. & lic fees. In California, vehicles over ten years old are sold miles 'exempt'. Transportation is the responsibility of the buyer. |

Race Recap: 2015 Hungarian Grand Prix is Magyar for 'What a race!'
Mon, Jul 27 2015Every driver on the Formula 1 grid dreams of taking home the silverware, but only one driver each year can do it. Barring disaster in 2015 it looks like it's going to be Lewis Hamilton. The Brit has been so dominating at the front of the grid on Saturday, we can't see how he'll miss out on winning the second annual FIA Pole Position Trophy. That's the accolade introduced last season in another manufactured attempt to give drivers something to work for on Saturday, since the FIA felt leading into the first corner didn't have the pull it used to. Hamilton took his ninth pole of the season in Hungary for Mercedes-AMG Petronas with a crushing lap that put him almost six tenths ahead of his teammate Nico Rosberg in second. All Hamilton needs is one more spot at the top of the grid this season, and he's the Pole Position trophy winner. Thrilling stuff. Behind Rosberg the gaps stayed smaller, Sebastian Vettel in the Ferrari a little more than a tenth behind Rosberg, Daniel Ricciardo in the Infiniti Red Bull Racing less than four one-hundredths behind Vettel. We feel almost as vexed watching Kimi Raikkonen as he feels driving – he's finally got a good Ferrari, now he can't get a good weekend. The front wing broke on his car in Free Practice 1, then a water leak in Free Practice 3 robbed him of setup time on the soft tire. He lines up in fifth about two tenths behind Ricciardo. The slow, tight Hungaroring didn't agree with the Williams chassis, Valtteri Bottas the first of the Grove team drivers in sixth, his teammate Felipe Massa two places back. Between them is Daniil Kvyat in the second Red Bull in seventh. Teenager Max Verstappen put in a good showing in the Toro Rosso to grab ninth, while Romain Grosjean in a wriggling, squishy, sliding Lotus classified his appearance in Q3 at all as "a miracle." As for the race that followed, we don't expect to see another like it for a long time – it was the real thrilling stuff, one shock after another. The drama began after the first parade lap, when Felipe Massa lined up out of position and the start was aborted. The drivers did another parade lap, then lined up with everyone in place. Mercedes got swamped as soon as the lights went out. Vettel ran around both of them and led the race into the first turn, Raikkonen had come from fifth to third by Turn 1, then got the inside line on Rosberg through Turn 2 to take second place.
2016 Italian Grand Prix race recap
Mon, Sep 5 2016The Italian Grand Prix at Monza is called the Temple of Power. Furthermore, the winning driver in Italy started on pole in 13 of the last 16 years, and only one driver in that time has won the Italian GP from behind the front row of the grid: Rubens Barrichello in 2002 and 2009. By this point in the current Formula 1 season (era?) we know what it means when a track emphasizes both power and pole position: Mercedes-AMG Petronas. The Silver Arrows locked out the front row with Lewis Hamilton on pole. A poor start prevented the Briton from capitalizing on the advantage, so teammate Nico Rosberg and four other drivers swept by him before the end of the second turn. Mercedes would later say a clutch issue caused Hamilton's botched start, but that didn't help the man who'd just fallen to sixth place. Rosberg got about two laps of television coverage on his way to an unbothered victory ahead of Hamilton. Ferrari made Hamilton's second-place finish easier by sticking to a two-stop strategy; both Mercedes drivers pitted once. We aren't sure why Ferrari didn't at least attempt a one-stopper once Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen had been gifted second and third on track. A pit stop took about 23 seconds from entry to exit and Vettel finished third, six seconds behind Hamilton. Raikkonen finished fourth, another seven seconds behind Vettel. Perhaps the Scuderia's tire usage wouldn't allow longer stints, but we'll never know. Daniel Ricciardo wielded his Red Bull like a scalpel to make an impeccable pass on Valtteri Bottas in the Williams and take fifth place. Ricciardo, trailing another Italian province behind, somehow closed the gap on Bottas in just the braking zone of Turn 1, pulling alongside near the apex without locking a wheel on entry nor running wide on exit. Bottas claimed sixth ahead of Red Bull's Max Verstappen, Sergio Perez in the Force India, Felipe Massa in the second Williams, and Nico Hulkenberg in the second Force India sealing the top ten. Monza did spring a few on-track surprises. Esteban Gutierrez drove Haas F1 into Q3 for the first time this season, the Mexican setting the sixth-best time in Q2. Manor Racing planned for Monza all season, Pascal Wehrlein repaying the effort by qualifying 13th. Fernando Alonso pitted his McLaren on Lap 50 of the 53-lap race for a set of super soft Pirellis, then set the fastest lap. It's Honda's first fastest lap since 1992. The biggest moments happened off the track.
