Selling this 1982 gray market vehicle. I knew the original owner/importer who sent it to the AMG shop back before Mercedes owned AMG, with the paperwork. I found it in late 98, I had the engine rebuilt at the time and right before I went into the army in 03 it started to have some electrical issues as well as the clear coat on the hood bubbled(which I buffed off) since then it has been in storage and was turned over once a month to keep the cobwebs out of it, until last year. Now I need the room it does not run as the battery I was using finally stopped taking a charge. Also the tires are from 99 and one will not hold air for very long. There is an extra AMG rim that goes with the car. The leather is in decent shape for its age, a couple of small breaks on the seams. A project car for now but it is certainly a blast to drive especially with the windows down. Would love to keep it as for the most part needs a fuse panel update battery and tires, but I need something more reliable in that spot in the garage. Email me any questions and I will try to respond quickly. Listing as 1982 because EBAY does not like the VIN it is titled under title has VIN and listed as 1982 380 sec I think because at the time 500sec was not a car over here.

Next Mercedes-Benz GLK to get AMG variant? Not likely...
Fri, 15 Mar 2013If you think Mercedes-Benz will slap an AMG badge on anything with wheels, think again. Word has it the German manufacturer will not offer buyers a performance version of the GLK, with Tobias Moers, director of AMG vehicle development, saying that he doesn't see a market for the car. That's not to say the picture won't change in the near future, however. According to CarAdvice.com, AMG is keeping a close eye on the arrival of the Porsche Macan.
"Maybe there will be a change in the market when the Porsche [Macan] comes up," Moers said, "but right now, no."
The real hitch in the giddy-up seems to be cost. Moers says developing the machine into something worthy of an AMG would represent "a huge investment." We can't exactly argue with that. Fortunately, AMG buyers have plenty of Mercedes-Benz models to choose from.
BMW expects China to pass US as its top market in 2013
Thu, 11 Jul 2013When you combine two billion citizens, 100 cities with more than a million inhabitants and an economy that's as unrestrained as Jim Cramer on an Adderall binge, China's explosive auto industry growth shouldn't be a huge surprise. Audi already lists the communist country as its largest market, while Mercedes-Benz is expecting it to be there in the next few years. Now, according to a report from Automotive News, BMW is expecting the People's Republic to overtake the United States in sales by the end of 2013.
We already discovered the extent that BMW is going to in establishing a dedicated Chinese stronghold, when we explored BMW's Shanghai-based DesignWorks studio ahead of April's Shanghai Motor Show. And while we argued that DesignWorks Shanghai hasn't really borne fruit, it isn't due to a lack of sales.
BMW China has seen a 16-percent jump in year-over-year sales, lead by a 28-percent gain in 5 Series sales. Part of BMW's growth strategy comes from an ever-expanding dealership network. Remember those 100 cities we mentioned with over one million people? According to Karsten Engel, CEO of BMW's Chinese operations, those 100-million-plus city dwellers don't have access to a premium dealership.
