1986 Mercedes 560SEL sedan.

I purchased this car in 2002 to add to my personal collection of Mercedes vehicles.

I bought it from the original owner, and elderly Asian woman living in Pasadena CA ( that not a folk tale)  her name and address are in the original papers which are complete including the "Window sticker" or new car invoice and all of the booklet's and records. The car was sold in Los Angeles CA,and has always been in Califorinia with its original plates .

It had accrued 79000 miles at the time and after 12 years in my care had it now shows 83,299 as its been mostly stored with my collection. It has been exercised on a regular basis.

I don't wish to over state the condition. The leather interior is still soft with no wear any where with the exception a slight rub mark at the very face  (not on top) of  the driver lower seat bottom. She had apparently short legs. Carpets, side panels dash ,instruments and wood consol are exceptionally nice. All the records , books and instructions including original "window sheet" are in the glove box.

The finish is original and NO scrapes or door dings. The trim and body molding are very nice with the exception of as few very minor spotty upper window moldings in the top rear and has never been in an accident or "fender scrape of bender". The paint is smooth and shiny with some slight haze in a few top areas sighted from just the right angles. Overall a very presentable automobile.

The tires are nearly new with factory plated wheels. The spare and tools have never been out of the trunk.

The car is very smooth and quite powerful and alwsys properly serviced.

I would really like anyone interested in the car to call me-Mike- 9252029880 for a detailed description prior buying the car. I want you too be satisfied and winning buyer or not you don't have to pay for the car if not completely satisfied.

I will asssist buyer in shipping arrangements if you wish. It is also for sale locally.

There is no reserve I am asking somewhat  less than I paid for it.

 Thanks for watching...

buyer's Question

Dear lu54nd,

The car has never been smoked in and has a nice Mercedes factory leather aroma.
I think the lady that owned it was the only occupant. Even the carpets and trunk had covers or rugs over them.
I bought this as a collector car not a driver. I' m sending you my personal service records since I bought it.
The brakes are in good condition with new fluid. The A/C blows cold and it has the factory working radio and antenna.
Mike

Mercedes to roll out C63 AMG late in 2014 with 4.0L V8

Mon, 30 Dec 2013

The new 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is upon us, launching initially in North America with turbocharged four-cylinder C300 4Matic and six-cylinder C400 4Matic flavors. But that's only the tip of the proverbial iceberg when it comes to the vast array of powertrain configurations that will be offered in the new C-Class in markets around the world. Orders will soon be rolling in for gasoline, hybrid and diesel engines with four, six or eight cylinders, driving the rear wheels or all four, with the seven-speed automatic transmission soon to be replaced by a new nine-speed unit. But what enthusiasts are really looking forward to is the next C63 AMG.
As BMW has done with the M3 (and new M4), Mercedes has gradually ratcheted up the cylinder count in its AMG C-Class, graduating from the 3.6-liter V6 in the original C36 AMG to the 4.3-liter V8 in the C43 AMG, then the 5.5-liter V8 in the C55 AMG before going the distance with the sublime 6.2-liter V8 in the C63 AMG. Like its rivals, Mercedes is expected to use turbochargers as a replacement for displacement in the next model, but unlike its Bavarian rival, it won't be losing any cylinders in the process.
Skipping the 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 that has gone on to power other AMG models, the next C63 AMG is still expected to introduce a new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing between 450 and 500 horsepower. It'll also reportedly keep the same seven-speed automatic transmission (instead of switching to the new nine-speed), but the jury's still out on whether it'll come with rear- or all-wheel drive (or offer buyers the choice). The downsized V8 - codenamed M177 - is then expected to find its way into other models, but the C-Class will be the first to get it when it arrives before the end of the new year ahead.

Fastest cars in the world by top speed, 0-60 and quarter mile

Tue, Feb 13 2024

A claim for the title of “Fastest Car in the World” might seem easy to settle. ItÂ’s actually anything but: Are we talking production cars, race cars or customized monsters? And what does “fastest” even mean? For years, car publications have tended to define “fastest” in terms of an unbeatable top speed. ThatÂ’s distinct from the “quickest” car in a Usain Bolt-style dash from the starting blocks, as with the familiar 0-60 mph metric. Professionals often focus on track lap times or elapsed time-to-distance, as with a drag racer thatÂ’s first to trip the beam of light at the end of a quarter-mile; or the 1,000-foot trip of nitromethane-powered NHRA Top Fuel and Funny Car dragsters. Something tells us, however, that you're not seeking out an answer of "Brittany Force rewriting the NHRA record books with a 3.659-second pass at a boggling 338.17 mph." For most barroom speed arguments, the focus is firmly on cars you can buy in showrooms, even if many are beyond the financial means of all but the wealthiest buyers and collectors. Here are some of the enduring sources of speed claims, counter-claims, tall tales and taunting dismissals that are the lifeblood of car enthusiasts – now with EVs adding an unexpected twist to these passionate pursuits.   Fastest from the blocks: 0-60 mph Thirty years ago, any car that could clock 60 mph in five seconds or less was considered extremely quick. Today, high-performance, gasoline-powered sedans and SUVs are routinely breaking below 4 seconds. As of today, the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 crushes all with a 0-60 mph time of just 1.66 seconds. That's simply absurd, but keep in mind the Demon was engineered with the single-minded purpose of going fast in a straight line. It's also important to realize that direct comparisons are difficult, because not all of these times were accomplished with similar conditions (prepped surfaces, adjustments for elevation and so on). The moral here is to take these times with a tiny grain of salt. After the Dodge, the Rimac Nevera comes in with an officially recorded 0-60 mph time of just 1.74 seconds. EVs crowd the quickest list, with the Pininfarina Battista coming in a few hundredths slower (1.79 seconds) than the Nevera and the Lucid Air sapphire (1.89 seconds) right after that. Eventually, you arrive to the Tesla Model S Plaid, which has a claimed 1.99-second 0-60 mph time, though instrumented testing by Car and Driver shows it accomplishes the deed in 2.1 seconds.
