1987 Mercedes 560SL for sale

Amazing and gorgeous example of an extremely original 560sl. Original Ivory paint over Palomino interior, factory soft top with crystal clear windows and hard top too.

So you know I'm legit and not some spam posting, you can look me up on the web and see my picture and footage of me as well. Go to the well known site IMDB (International Movie Data Base) and put in Dean England. That is who you will be speaking to on the phone and you or your transport company will be meeting to get the Mercedes. If you have little or no ebay feedback, please contact me before the end of the auction to confirm your identity as well.

Purchased new and gently enjoyed between San Diego (Escondido) and Palm Springs (Indian Wells) for many years. Then she has lived amongst collectors in Palm Springs and Los Angeles. Her last visit to the dealership was at Mercedes of Encino at 76.022 miles in November of 2011.

Clean car fax and receipts document the mileage that is about 78,000 now.

You will see on the car fax she has passed every California smog check, most recently on 4/15/2014.

Factory books stamped by the dealer to the mileage of about 51k.

Extremely high gloss on the original ivory paint is fantastic.

Pampered to the fullest from new, including the factory rims chromed (including the spare), hand painted pinstripes and upgraded wood shifter and steering wheel as well as back seats with seat belts, all as they'd do for a substantial extra expense back in the day.

Interior is fantastic. There are no dash cracks, tears or damage inside. Ashtray never used.

Also at great expense, an upgraded in dash Mercedes CD stereo was purchased at and installed by the Mercedes dealer so it is the correct brand for the car and not some odd looking after market unit. It fits right into the original opening. The speakers in the dash were upgraded as well. Though again, nothing has been cut and no other areas in the Mercedes are cut for speakers as too often is the case in these cars. Dealer receipt included.

The Mercedes dealership also upgraded/retrofitted the Air Conditioning system to run on the R134 refrigerant and it blows nice and cold.

The soft top is the original, yes original, with all the Mercedes emblems embossed in the crystal clear plastic windows. You can tell the car has seen very little sun or bad weather as the interior wood is not cracking, the soft top is not torn or faded and neither are the windows to it and the body to the car is spectacular. Even the outside rubber in the chrome side moldings are not sun faded or worn. The rubber is just as smooth on the top facing the sun as it is on the bottom.

She just got a brand new battery. The metal battery box clamps that are too often broken off are all good. This happens because sometimes people cram in a cheaper battery that doesn't fit right and then try to clamp it down anyway. Not the case here.

She starts right up, shifts smoothly. I can email video of her running. I just don't know how to post that on Ebay.

When the headlights are turned on, that one small dash light is on that suggests a bulb is burned out. Yet, all blinkers, back up lights, parking lights etc are working. Sometimes this light can come on if an incorrect bulb (even if it works) was put in. I haven't looked into this to see if that's the case. Also, there is the typical small bit of play in the steering wheel when in the 12 o'clock position.

This is the 560sl to put into your care if you are looking for original quality that is only going up in value because of its extreme originality along with dealer maintenance over the years and low mileage.

Even the the lighted sun visors work and are not cracked or brittle or faded.

I have the right to end this auction early in case I reach a deal with someone before the end of auction. If you'd like, feel free to email me your best offer. If it works for both of us I will let you know. I will then add a "Buy it Now" to the auction and you can purchase the 560sl with the buy it now feature.

Otherwise, I'll see where it goes.

Feel free to email me with any questions.

Thanks for looking.

Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe is ready to tackle BMW's X6

Wed, Dec 10 2014

Under the chiseled hood of the GLE 450 AMG sits a 3.0L, twin-turbo V6 with 362 hp and 384 lb-ft. Years after the polarizing BMW X6 originally hit the market, Mercedes-Benz has finally unveiled its slope-roofed challenger, and much like Munich's Sport Activity Vehicle, we think the new GLE Coupe will split opinions rather dramatically. While it clearly shares its form factor with BMW's X4 and X6, the GLE Coupe's styling is all Mercedes, borrowing the more organic shapes used on the company's most recent new model, the AMG GT. Strips of chrome and the iconic silver arrow logo bisect a large, rectangular grille, while the fascia on the GLE 450 shown above features three rather dramatic lower air intakes. The headlights, meanwhile, fit in with MB's latest styling language. In back, slim, wraparound taillights share some resemblance with the new S-Class Coupe. The cabin is recognizable and looks to be of extremely high quality, with the featured vehicle showing off quite a lot of carbon-fiber trim. A thick-rimmed, flat-bottomed steering wheel dominates the driver's area, while a large, tablet-like display crowns the center stack. The same sort of touch-controlled interface and input dial found on the new C-Class controls the information on that screen. Under the chiseled hood of the GLE 450 AMG, the first of Mercedes' AMG Sport models, sits a 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V6. Unlike the 329-horsepower unit in the C400 and E400, the force-induced V6 generates 362 hp and an equally robust 384 pound-feet of torque. It's mated up to a new nine-speed automatic transmission and Mercedes' 4Matic all-wheel-drive system. A new version of the popular Airmatic suspension is being offered with the ADS Plus continuously variable dampers while Mercedes is also fitting its Active Curve System, complete with active roll stabilization. Mercedes doesn't provide many additional details on the GLE Coupe range, as it were. We know about the 450 AMG, but it's not clear whether there will be a GLE 400 or non-AMG 450, or if Mercedes will move it down market and offer a GLE 350 to compete with the X6's xDrive35i. There's also no mention of when or where the new model will debut, although previous reports point to the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. Prices and an on-sale date, meanwhile, have not been revealed. Scroll down for the full press blast from Mercedes-Benz on its newest model, the 2016 GLE Coupe. Premiere: Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe A sportier choice Stuttgart.

New Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe spied in revealing state of dress

Tue, 19 Feb 2013

During a product briefing earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz told us that 2013 would be the "year of the S-Class." Makes sense, too, since the flagship Mercedes is so very close to finally showing its production-ready face. But the high-tech saloon isn't the only S-Class to talk about this year - quite the contrary. Seen here in decidedly revealing camouflage, the new S-Class Coupe will be joining its four-door compadre in the not-too-distant future, as well.
When it launches, the S-Class Coupe will officially do away with the CL-Class nomenclature. This doesn't come as a huge shock. After all, when the new E-Class coupe and convertible were launched, it officially marked the end of the long-running CLK-Class designation.
Thanks to the interesting camouflage seen here, we have a very good glimpse at how the S-Class Coupe will look when all of the molding and swirly paper are peeled off. Rakish body lines pulled from the CLS-Class meet a much more dynamic front fascia. Out back, there are horizontal taillamps rather than the vertical units used on the current car, and the whole package seems very svelte. Our spy photographer even posits that this will be "the best-looking car from Mercedes-Benz in ages."

Cars with the worst resale value in 2022

Thu, Nov 10 2022

Car values are all over the map right now. Used vehicles that were worth a small fortune earlier this year are now coming back to Earth, but the new vehicle supply remains tight. Prices are still elevated overall, but some models have seen more severe price drops. Depreciation strikes almost every model, supply constraint or not, though a few vehicles are leading the way. New research from analytics iSeeCars found that a handful of cars depreciated more than 50 percent over five years, with the BMW 7 Series dropping 56.9 percent and an average price cut of $61,923 over that time. The vehicles with the highest depreciation — or worst resale value — over five years: BMW 7 Series: -56.9% Maserati Ghibli: -56.3% Jaguar XF: -54% Infiniti QX80: -52.6% Cadillac Escalade ESV: 52.3% Mercedes-Benz S-Class: 51.9% Lincoln Navigator: -51.9% Audi A6: -51.5% Volvo S90: -51.4% Ford Expedition: -50.7% iSeeCarsÂ’ research showed that midsize trucks, sports cars, and fuel-efficient vehicles were slowest to depreciate over five years, while itÂ’s clear that luxury brands tend to lose value much faster. As iSeeCarsÂ’ Executive Analyst Karl Brauer explained, used buyers donÂ’t value high-end vehiclesÂ’ features as much as the first owners, so resale values tend to be softer. The tech and options that made the cars so expensive and appealing new donÂ’t add the same value on the used market. Read more: Cars with the best resale value Interestingly, electric vehicles also depreciated quite heavily, though they were just short of the abysmal numbers in luxury segments. The Nissan Leaf depreciated most among EVs, dropping by 49.1 percent. The average EV depreciation is 44.2 percent, with the Tesla Model S and Model X sliding in right under the bar at 43.7 and 38.8 percent, respectively. As iSeeCars notes, itÂ’s important to be vigilant when car shopping and not let your emotions win over reason. Shiny new luxury cars look great in the showroom, but you could end up taking a bath when you try selling them a few years later on.
