This outstanding 1987 Mercedes 560SL was just traded to us by the son of the original owner and we have all of the paper work to document it.  The original owner used this SL as a summer nice weather vehicle here in Kansas City from November 10th, 1987 until the fall of 2001 when they moved to Long Boat Key, Florida full time.  During the 14 years they drove the car 54,000 miles, just 3,858 miles per year naturally with the hard top off and I am assuming with the soft top down.  They decided not to move the car to Florida and their lucky son was the recipient of the 560.  The history actually gets better as over the next 12 years the son drove the car 10,000 miles, just 834 miles per year, WOW!  Both of these owners had the service performed at the local Mercedes Dealership that sold the car back in 1987.  This car drives like a new 1987 Mercedes and you can let go of the steering wheel and the car drives straight down the road and even starts on the first turn of the key every time.  The Signal Red paint is very nice for a 26 year old car and still looks new & is very shiny.  The Black Leather interior looks like no one has ever sat in the seats.  No wear or cracks and it still smells new as no one has ever smoked in this car.  The dash, door panels, carpet, steering wheel, wood trim, look just like when it rolled out of the showroom floor. The original Black Canvas top looks like it has not even seen any sunshine, no rips or wear marks, just a very few very light scratches in the plastic rear windows.  If I didn't tell you, you would swear the top had been replaced.  The hard top has a few small scratches after getting moved around in the 2 owners garages over the years and the chrome trim behind each door on the hard top is dented.  Everything works perfect accept the clock & power antenna does not go up but the radio plays fine and is a aftermarket radio because the owner wanted to play CD's and the original radio didn't have a CD player.  The Michelin tires have lots of tread and are mounted on the factory alloy wheels.  The car has a Certified Clean Carfax with no accident history.  Have the owners manual and only one master key.  By the way the MSRP was $61,080.  Would be happy to arrange to have the SL delivered to your front door or would pick you up at the Kansas City airport so you could enjoy the drive home.  Please feel free to CALL RON 913-707-8111 if you need additional information.

Here's today's round of auto plant closures in response to coronavirus

Fri, Mar 20 2020

More automakers have shuttered factories, as businesses everywhere work to slow the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus — and as the pandemic slows sales and disrupts parts supply chains. On Friday, the following closures were announced: • Volvo will close its factories in Sweden and the United States from March 26 to April 14. Volvo's U.S. facility, in Charleston, South Carolina, makes the S60 sedan. Its assembly plant in Torslanda, Sweden, turns out the XC90, SC60, and V90. Other Swedish facilities make engines and component parts. A Volvo factory in Ghent, Belgium, that builds the XC40 and V60 closed earlier this week and is expected to remain offline until April 6. Volvo's four factories in China have been reopened after a shutdown earlier this year. • Jaguar Land Rover announced that it will suspend production at its assembly plants in the UK over the coming week. The shutdown is expected to last until April 20. Elsewhere, production continues at the company's factories in India and Brazil, and JLR's joint-venture plant in China reopened at the end of February. • Bentley is closing its factory in Crewe, England, for four weeks, effective today. • Bugatti has put its atelier in Molsheim, France, on hiatus. No date was given for when assembly of its supercars might resume. • Mercedes-Benz on Monday will shut down its SUV factory in Alabama and its van assembly plant in South Carolina. Both will remain closed for a minimum of two weeks. Tesla yesterday revealed that it will suspend operations at its Fremont, California, vehicle assembly plant next week, on order from local officials there. Yesterday's factory closure announcements also included the U.S. assembly plants for Toyota (until April 6), Volkswagen (through March 29), Subaru (through March 29), and Hyundai (no time period specified). They join GM, Ford, Chrysler, Honda, Nissan, and Harley-Davidson, which earlier this week announced the suspension of production at their facilities. Mercedes-AMG teases GT interior, announces fall 2014 debut

Tue, 15 Apr 2014

Mercedes-Benz opted to tease the assembled media at its post-New York Auto Show party, showing off a pair of images of the exquisitely crafted interior of the highly anticipated successor of the SLS AMG - the V8-powered Mercedes-AMG GT.
Slated for a debut in the fall at either Paris or Los Angeles (we're betting Paris), you'll note straight away that there's something wrong with this car's name. Where's the "Benz?" Well, it's been ditched to, as Mercedes says, "make the dream of the authentic Mercedes-AMG sports car come true." Sorry Karl.
"The new Mercedes-AMG GT proves that we will be positioning AMG as a dynamic sports car brand even more strongly and aggressively than before," said Tobias Moers, CEO of Mercedes-AMG.

Watch this perfectly nice Mercedes get crushed by a front-end loader

Mon, 25 Mar 2013

In a world where the YouTube hoax continues to thrive, it's hard to know what to think of this little vid, but here are the facts as we know them: a coupe that looks like a first-generation Mercedes-Benz CLK gets crushed by a giant front-end loader. There you have it.
Our questions arise in the aftermath - we know industrial resource machinery is heavy, but the Benz gets squashed so flat we wonder if someone's trying to play a joke on us. We hear that the white coupe may have been the heavy-equipment operator's foreman's car, but who knows? The on-camera interview seems awfully conveniently placed, yes? See for yourself in the video below and then leave us your thoughts in Comments.
