1989 Mercedes 560 Sec Rare"flagship" Coupe-gorgeous In & Out! Runs Great! Nice! on 2040-cars
Las Vegas, Nevada, United States
--------------CALLING ALL MERCEDES 560 LOVERS & COLLECTORS!!!-----------------------------------------------------------------------1st $6900 OR BEST REASONABLE OFFER GETS THIS GEM! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------WOW! Where do I begin to describe this STUNNING "ALL ORIGINAL & classic Mercedes 560 SEC. Well, For those of you familiar with this Incredible "Flagship" Mercedes model You already know that this top of the line model always featured the BEST and most extravagant and luxurious features that were available at the time, putting this car decades ahead of its time for design performance and comfort, not to mention durability!, This cars general overall rarity makes them a very attractive buy for collectors and Mercedes fans alike, and RARER still are CLEAN and Original 560 SEC's that are from the southwest, have never been wrecked, are "matching numbers" cars with CLean title, and CLean title history! This one meets all of those criteria and more, not to mention how nice the car looks! There are Tons of Buyers out there for SEC's right now , and these cars are poised firmly on the comeback trail since many auto collectors have begun to snatch them up knowing that these rare roadsters were among the finest cars ever to come out of Mercedes , In Fact, Many believe this 560 series to be among THE best cars that Mercedes or anyone else ever produced! (.....Theres a reason that they were nearly $100k new! ).... And speaking of production , only 28,000 of these Mercedes "dream" cars were ever made during the entire production run during the years 1985 to 1991, making this AWESOME car increasingly rare and more desirable among car collectors of all ages and eras, and especially for enthusiasts of cars from this period. I remember how badly I wanted one of these back in the 80s after being lucky enough to catch a 20 minute ride in one back in 1987. That ride was SO impressive that I (to this day have as much respect and admiration for this car as the day I first got to ride in one!) After that I swore I would get one, but the $90k price tag kept me away for many years to come, Anyhow let me just say that to drive one is to ABSOLUTELY LOVE one, and For those of you who haven't yet driven one , but Love this car simply for its Raw, aggressive & stylish stance + its timeless good looks, I can assure you, that for you, the best is yet to come! Because they are simply one of the FUNNEST cars to drive EVER, and are like no other car I've ever experienced, to this date. And that's saying a lot, as I have had the privilege of driving and owning Lots of nice (High end ) cars, but all of them fall short in one way or another (IN MY OPINION) when compared to a 560 and to what this car delivers on! This one hasn't been driven much lately, but it still runs and drives great, And LOOKS AMAZING ! SEE THE PICS! It only has 151k miles on it which is not a lot for one of these cars that regularly go to 300k miles and well beyond if they are taken care of! "Mechanically Bulletproof" is often the way you see and hear of these gems being described because they are well known to last (seemingly) forever. As far as the mechanics and driveability go for this car, it starts Immediately on the first crank , and hums beautifully and has NO LEAKS, NO DRIPS, etc. This car was garage kept for most of its life, and it shows! The dash has no cracks, the interior is in overall GREAT Condition and definitely doesn't show its age at all! Even the carpet is beautiful, and has no stains tears or rips, and is still in great shape as well all around! And as for the Beautiful black leather seats, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves, as they are truly remarkable! It's also worth mentioning that the sunroof doesn't move, but EVERYTHING else works perfectly such as ALL of the power windows work perfectly along with the power steering, the power door-locks, AND EVEN the MOTORIZED SEATBELT " ARMS" both work as new! This car is a Thrill to drive and almost as thrilling to stare at! I start it often and always starts up, and has been well taken care of over the last quarter century (Yes its 25 years old!) That being said, its Not a new car, and while the (VERY GOOD) condition of this car both Mechanically and physically are Well above average, it is still important that you remember that you are bidding on a "CLASSIC" Mercedes and that while its current state finds it to be a GOOD RUNNING CLASSIC that everything still works on, Things can happen and the car is sold without a warranty. And please Don't let my honesty discourage you in any way, I just feel the need to remind all bidders that this vehicle is NOT new, and hasn't been NEW for 25 years, so be reasonable and fair about this in your evaluation of this vehicle, and if you are, I can assure comfortably that this 560 SEC is in WELL ABOVE AVERAGE condition all around, in fact I would safely give it an 8 out of 10 for its overall condition, and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it daily if I needed to. However, I would plan on a basic maintenance schedule before doing so, just to treat the car right! Nothing big, just the basics, such as a new fuel filter, maybe some new plugs etc, and of course an oil change (the oil already looks good), i'm just saying to do this stuff more or less just to pamper her. Basically, since its not driven too much these days a fuel system cleaning might also be suggested if a long trip is needed, or if perfection is desired, again mostly just to pamper this lovely ride! Oh I almost forgot that the car also has a NEW battery and 4 brand new MATCHING TIRES! This Beautiful rare running classic is only going to go up in value, so don't miss your chance to get a NICE ONE (from the southwestern part of the country that's not been exposed to any harsh elements and is 100 % un-molested! ) This Benz has been well cared for and it certainly shows, I believe that it is sure to appreciate if it is given the same continued level of care and respect that it has been shown to date! Just to Reiterate once again, please understand that this is NOT a PERFECT or NEW Mercedes, just a Gorgeous example of the 560 species that still runs and drives and almost everything on the vehicle still works perfectly without issue. And if you want a nicer one then plan on spending $10 k or better, because this is still a VERY NICE CAR ALL AROUND! and will still turn heads ANYWHERE you drive her! AND FYI -not only are you 100% welcome to come out and view this vehicle in person (and TEST drive it!) ...You are ENCOURAGED to do so, and if you do, you will see just how great these cars are, and how much fun they are to drive! So please, if you are SERIOUS about the vehicle, then by all means, feel free to email me through EBAY for a pre bid or Pre purchase examination and test drive ....Just be serious! that's all! Don't miss this one! MORE EXTRA INFO: This all original Mercedes 560SEC coupe is a "MATCHING NUMBERS" car and it was regularly maintained by MB dealers or by certified MB techs for most of its life, and the condition shows it!. This car has never been in an accident (there are only MINOR blemishes to be found anywhere including a very small rust spot over the passengers rear wheel well...totally minor, making this an almost rust free vehicle! with a VERY SOLID body including all the body panels and all of the chrome trim and bumpers, as well as lower air dams they are in Great shape too! See PICS!.........And once again to re cap, The interior overall is also in Super condition, with supple leather seats with no tears or rips. The Burlwood is all there and is in good shape with only minor fading and can be totally replaced for about $200 if absolute perfection is desired, but like I said, All of the Burlwood pieces are still in place and in tact, so replacing it would be only for the truly finicky or to a collector who wants a prestine 560. Oh and the Trunk is likewise very clean, and has the original spare tire in there as well as the safety kit, and the TOOL ROLL. And FYI the engine compartment is also VERY CLEAN, showing again just how well the car has been cared for!.-----------------------------------MORE PICS ARE COMING SOON! So...stay tuned! . John Olson's book, "The MERCEDES Experience" notes that the W126 coupe is the rarest Mercedes produced during the golden years of the 80s, before Mercedes ceased to be over engineered and plastic replaced leather and metal in their line. Less than 2,000 of these cars were made per year. These rare coupes are starting to appreciate and will continue to appreciate in the future. This car just floats down the interstate with the most luxurious ride imaginable, better than today's cars. The 5.6 liter V8 provides ample power to do as you please in this car. Likewise, the body structure is extremely strong with no rattles and vibrations. The car has VERY nice glass and Perfect taillights without any cracks or staining (SEE PICS!) Very nice trim all around including flawless window glass .al around This car offers WITHOUT A DOUBT (IMO) the absolute most for the money of any used car on the market today. Especially when you consider the original $90k sticker price of this car, combined with the fact that this one still runs and drives great! You could drive it every day, and it will provide many, many years of pleasure as the years go by (While it continues to appreciate! = $$$! The engine and drivetrain are as tough as nails, and are almost always capable of going hundreds of thousands of miles without the need of any rebuild if maintained to MB specs. This car gets lots of attention, looks, and lots of "thumbs ups". Comes with original book, a large Mercedes cover intact along with the original tool roll etc. I HATE to sell this "dream" car, but I need the $$$ out of it to do other things right now, otherwise id NEVER sell this one!. If you have any questions, please ask prior to bidding, I have set a most reasonable reserve price, and have decided on a Buy it NOW at $6,900. Drive like a prince: Join us for a walk through Monaco's car collection
Fri, Dec 29 2023Small, crowded, and a royal pain in the trunk lid to drive into during rush hour, Monaco sounds like an improbable location for a huge car museum. And yet, this tiny city-state has been closely linked to car culture for over a century. It hosts two major racing events every year, many of its residents would qualify for a frequent shopper card if Rolls-Royce issued one, and Prince Rainier III began assembling a collection of cars in the late 1950s. He opened his collection to the public in 1993 and the museum quickly turned into a popular tourist attraction. The collection continued to grow after his death in April 2005; it moved to a new facility located right on Hercules Port in July 2022. Monaco being Monaco, you'd expect to walk into a room full of the latest, shiniest, and most powerful supercars ever to shred a tire. That's not the case: while there is no shortage of high-horsepower machines, the first cars you see after paying ˆ10 (approximately $11) to get in are pre-war models. In that era, the template for the car as we know it in 2023 hadn't been created, so an eclectic assortment of expensive and dauntingly experimental machines roamed whatever roads were available to them. One is the Leyat Helica, which was built in France in 1921 with a 1.2-liter air-cooled flat-twin sourced from the world of aviation. Fittingly, the two-cylinder spun a massive, plane-like propeller. Government vehicles get a special spot in the museum. They range from a Cadillac Series 6700 with an amusing blend of period-correct French-market yellow headlights and massive fins to a 2011 Lexus LS 600h with a custom-made transparent roof panel that was built by Belgian coachbuilder Carat Duchatelet for Prince Albert II's wedding. Here's where it all gets a little weird: you've got a 1952 Austin FX3, a Ghia-bodied 1959 Fiat 500 Jolly, a 1960 BMW Isetta, and a 1971 Lotus Seven. That has to be someone's idea of a perfect four-car garage. One of the most significant cars in the collection lurks in the far corner of the main hall, which is located a level below the entrance. At first glance, it's a kitted-out Renault 4CV with auxiliary lights, a racing number on the front end, and a period-correct registration number issued in the Bouches-du-Rhone department of France. It doesn't look all that different than the later, unmodified 4CV parked right next to it. Here's what's special about it: this is one of the small handful of Type 1063 models built by Renault for competition.
Poor headlights cause 40 cars to miss IIHS Top Safety Pick rating
Mon, Aug 6 2018Over the past few months, we've noticed a number of cars and SUVs that have come incredibly close to earning one of the IIHS's highest accolades, the Top Safety Pick rating. They have great crash test scores and solid automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning systems. What trips them up is headlights. That got us wondering, how many vehicles are there that are coming up short because they don't have headlights that meet the organization's criteria for an "Acceptable" or "Good" rating. This is a revision made after 2017, a year in which headlights weren't factored in for this specific award. This is also why why some vehicles, such as the Ford F-150, might have had the award last year, but have lost it for this year. We reached out to someone at IIHS to find out. He responded with the following car models. Depending on how you count, a whopping 40 models crash well enough to receive the rating, but don't get it because their headlights are either "Poor" or "Marginal." We say depending on how you count because the IIHS actual counts truck body styles differently, and the Infiniti Q70 is a special case. Apparently the version of the Q70 that has good headlights doesn't have adequate forward collision prevention technology. And the one that has good forward collision tech doesn't have good enough headlights. We've provided the entire list of vehicles below in alphabetical order. Interestingly, it seems the Volkswagen Group is having the most difficulty providing good headlights with its otherwise safe cars. It had the most models on the list at 9 split between Audi and Volkswagen. GM is next in line with 7 models. It is worth noting again that though these vehicles have subpar headlights and don't quite earn Top Safety Pick awards, that doesn't mean they're unsafe. They all score well enough in crash testing and forward collision prevention that they would get the coveted award if the lights were better.
Average new-vehicle transaction price hits a whopping new peak in December
Wed, Jan 11 2023Elevated prices for products and higher borrowing rates led to record high transaction prices for new vehicles in December, with the average cost in the U.S. rising to a record $49,507, according to data from Kelley Blue Book released today. The report notes that ATPs — average transaction prices — have climbed above suggested retail prices — MSRPs — for more than a year. Sales volumes were up in December on a year-over-year basis by more than 5%, a situation Kelley attributed to improved supply. Overall sales for 2022, however, were off 8% year over year. “The transaction data from December clearly indicates overall prices showed no signs of coming down as we headed into year-end,” said Rebecca Rydzewski, research manager of economic and industry insights for Cox Automotive. “Luxury prices fell slightly in December, but non-luxury transaction prices were up. Truck sales were particularly strong last month, and with many trucks selling for more than $60,000, a new record was all but inevitable.” Industry analysts claim the most obvious headwinds in the new car market are generated by higher interest rates, forced by the Federal Reserve's rate hikes intended to tame inflation, and by generally limited inventory. A recent report from J.D. Power showed that the average monthly payment for a new vehicle loan in December was $718, up $47 from a year ago. But 16% of consumers in December took out loans with monthly payments of over $1,000. Consumers think vehicles, and electric vehicles especially, are way too expensive. Fortunately, manufacturersÂ’ incentives, all but extinct in the past two years, are returning, especially in the electric-vehicle and luxury market, the Kelley data suggest. Plus, "With the new tax credits on the way, electric vehicle ATPs will drop lower for qualifying vehicles,” Rydzewski said. Non-luxury brands, such as Honda and Kia, showed particularly strong performance in December, with the average price paid at $45,578 — a record high and an increase of $994 month over month. Meanwhile, the average luxury buyer paid $66,660 for a new vehicle last month. Mercedes-Benz and Land Rover showed the most price strength in the luxury market, transacting between 2.6% to 6.5% over sticker price. But luxury brands Audi, BMW, Infiniti, Lexus, Lincoln, and Volvo showed the least price strength with some discounting in effect, selling 1% or more below MSRP in December, according to the survey.
