UNDERSTATED LUXURY THAT EMBARRASSES THOSE "AVERAGE" MUSCLE CARS!

POPULAR, TIMELESS, CLASSIC COLOUR COMBINATION:

Silver-Blue Metallic DB930 with Navy Interior

approx. 205000 km.  (I still drive it, so I have over-estimated the mileage)

ORIGINAL

PAINT*   BODY**  ENGINE    INTERIOR    ACCESSORIES AND TRIM

NEWER:

TIRES(2)    TRANSMISSION    SPARK PLUGS (good for another 60,000km)  OIL CHANGE JUST DONE AT DEALERSHIP

MECHANICALLY SOUND:  STARTS WELL, RUNS SMOOTHLY, STEERS AND SHIFTS NICELY, DOES 120 KMPH  EASILY (more, if the police aren't looking)

EXTERIOR: ALL ORIGINAL EXCEPT FOR MINOR REPAIRS, CHROME IS SHINY AND TRIM GENERALLY INTACT.

ALL ORIGINAL INTERIOR COMPONENTS: LEATHER, CARPET, RADIO CASSETTE, ZEBRANO WOOD, NOTHING MISSING, EVEN HAS CIGARETTE LIGHTER, HANDLES FOR FASTENING HARD/SOFT TOPS AND FIRST AID KIT. Smoke-free and pet-free.

INCLUDES ORIGINAL OWNER'S MANUALS (4 books), copies of recent MAINTENANCE/REPAIR RECORDS (last 6 years),  PLUS OTHER ITEMS I HAVE COLLECTED: CHILTON REPAIR MANUAL, PARTS LIST, OTHER ASSORTED SALES LITERATURE AND REPAIR MANUALS (valued at hundreds of dollars for the collection, included free with purchase), a few SPARE PARTS, CUSTOM NAME PLATE AND FLOOR MATS.  Might even include my collection of 80's cassettes for the right buyer!

Includes both soft and hard top, full-size spare on Mercedes rim, original first-aid kit and toolkit. A/C, cruise, leather. Hard-top is in excellent shape, it hasn't been used much; the ragtop has a neatly repaired tear on the passenger side, plus I reinforced some spots from the inside that were showing wear. Very good exterior condition, excellent interior condition, lady-driven, mostly-summer car. Tiny bits of exterior trim missing, easily and inexpensively found on eBay. Everything works except ORIGINAL cassette deck doesn't play and antenna is stuck. My favourite eBay parts supplier recommended having the cassette deck rebuilt, but I prefer the radio anyway. Will include replacement antenna to install yourself. Also have extra set of front turn signals, since these tend to take a beating due to their location on the car.

Has needed very little in the way of repairs while I've had it, comparable to an average, much-younger car. I have loved and cared for this car since 2007, and am, to my knowledge, only the third owner of this car.  My Dad had purchased it from a dealership (part of an estate sale I think, it had been parked for many years) and had it for only a few months before I talked him into selling it to me. Now I''ve bought an older home and need a new furnace, hot water tank, paint, flooring, bathroom…and no longer have a garage in which to store this lovely old girl during the winter. And so must part with this luxurious, safe, surprisingly fun beauty

CAVEATS:

* Original paint has had significant touch-ups laid over top, due to inevitable dings in paint from driving on Alberta highways, parking where careless people also park, and life in general.  Paint was custom-blended to match the original using the proper colour code. It needs a good sanding/buffing/polishing, for which I can include a small collection of products and even a buffing machine.

** I have had 3 small panels replaced, namely in front of and behind the rear wheel on the driver's side and under the rear bumper.  This was part of a rust remediation done in the spring of 2012, in which the rocker panels were also sandblasted and recoated. Parts used were taken from a Mercedes of the same vintage, so everything is still correct.  There is a small spot of rust on each side near the rear wheel, I can take closeup photos of that or anything else you'd like details on. There is some inevitable rust in the front end as well, I have treated everything possible with a special rust inhibitor spray.  My "car guy" father assures me this is normal and not substantial, I can take some closeup photos if needed. Even so, I dropped the price by $2000 from my previous, well-researched asking price to compensate you in advance for any trouble.

***Generally, needs a little TLC, as would be expected with any classic car, but overall in great shape. Not in mint condition, but those that are generally run about double my asking price.Truly, an excellent value for the quality and condition of the vehicle.  If you would like more specifics, please email me. I have found eBay to be a great source for parts when needed, so if you are inclined to pretty her up to impress your friends, coworkers or the local classic car club, or just that special someone, you can always do a little tinkering.

All statements are true in my opinion and to the best of my knowledge.

I will cooperate with you to have vehicle inspected locally if requested.

I work for a living and am moving plus renovating, so please be patient if I do not answer inquiries immediately.

I will make every effort to respond quickly to any queries.

By the way, her name is "Betty Blue."

Mercedes dealers authorized to spend $2,500 on perks for S-Class customers

Mon, 02 Dec 2013

If you drop $100,000 on a luxury sedan, it seems only reasonable to receive some preferential treatment at the dealership you purchased from. After all, that price isn't just for the car - you're paying for the brand and all the cachet that entails. For Mercedes-Benz, those benefits have apparently been lacking relative to the German brand's luxury competitors.
That's set to change, though, as Automotive News reports that the German brand is placing a much greater emphasis on keeping its customers happy and loyal with its MB Select program. Starting with the new S-Class and spreading to the CLA-Class (and eventually beyond), dealers are being given money - up to $2,500 in the case of the flagship sedan - just to improve the customer experience.
We agree, improving the "customer experience" is quite a vague term, so it's nice that Mercedes USA's CEO, Steve Cannon, offered up some examples to AN at the LA Auto Show. For example, a customer couldn't fit his sunglasses into the overhead compartment. "So we bought him a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses that fit because of their shape," Cannon said.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class spied once again

Fri, 08 Feb 2013

As evidenced by how little camouflage the next-generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class has been caught wearing lately, it can't be too much longer until the car will get its official debut. In our newest shots of the yacht-sized luxo sedan, the cladding still covers up the headlights, front fascia and most of the rear end, but we finally have an almost undisguised look at the rest of the car's lines.
Considering previous spy shots had more camo that better (or fully) concealed the S-Class' body, some of the more obvious things we see in these images include the prominent grille, the CLS-Class-inspired bodyside creases, the pointed trunk opening and, most interestingly, a lack of fancy exhaust outlets. Unlike other S-Class prototypes we've seen, this car does not have integrated outlets, but it does have two pipes on the left side of the car. All current S-Class models in the US and Europe feature a dual exhaust layout on each side of the car, so while some of our questions about the car get answered, it would appear that more are just arising.

Recharge Wrap-up: KillaJoule hits 270 mph; Mercedes B-Class ED gets PlugShare

Wed, Sep 24 2014

The Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive will get its own version of the PlugShare charging-station locator app. Developed by Recargo with the help of Daimler, the vehicle-specific app will be integrated into the car's navigation system. The system maps the location of nearby charging stations from various networks. So far, Mercedes-Benz doesn't offer a universal pay service for the various charging networks, like those offered by BMW and Nissan. Read more at Green Car Reports. HyperSolar uses solar energy to make hydrogen from water. Without using electrolyzers, HyperSolar uses a photochemical process to separate and capture the hydrogen in the water, which can then be used for clean energy, such as automotive fuel cells. The solar devices are submerged in water inside a container, and sunlight powers the device to free the hydrogen. HyperSolar claims that its process is more efficient and cost effective than other methods used to produce hydrogen from water. See some demonstrations in the videos below and learn more at HyperSolar's website. Eva Hakansson drove the KillaJoule electric motorcycle to a top speed of 270.224 miles per hour. After a computer model showed a possibility of about 270 mph, the team took the motorcycle with sidecar out to the salt flats for Mike Cook's Shootout. Everything went smoothly, and Hakansson easily surpassed speeds of the 249.1-mph world record she set a few weeks ago. The team is calling it quits for the season, but will make some tweaks to the KillaJoule in hopes of getting 300 mph out of the red bullet next year.
